@ScottishMouse - it looks really nice with the dress, but I'm like you about clothes being workhorses and wonder if that would be an active enough participant in my wardrobe

Laska2Meryls · 20/08/2021 15:25

@ScottishMouse

And for a completely different look, here is the smaller size with the Edith chambray dress. It’s growing on me!
I like that combination scottishmouse but yes its expensive and has to earn its keep ..

yes Alix who knows my others are all 8s ( although I am never an 8)
10 yes if slimmer ... I have reordered the M and will report back.. The last years sand ones and the current fine striped ones in blue are both fine in an 8 ..
ah well.. definitely worth buying though I think..

ScottishMouse · 20/08/2021 15:29

Yup, that’s exactly it @faustina. It’s expensive to be a once in a while piece. And I don’t want to get known as the odd gilet wearing woman by wearing a quite distinct item of clothing all the time. But it is lovely. Gah!

ScottishMouse · 20/08/2021 15:32

On a completely different note, I don’t suppose anyone is interested in a pair of the Klassisk Kitty Clogs in a 38? I wore them once for about an hour, they are in perfect condition apart from the soles being marked, but I have a weak ankle that never recovered fully from an injury years ago, and that hour was enough to remind me that I just cannot wear clogs.

ilovecherries · 20/08/2021 16:07

I think the gilet has a lot of potential and does suit you, but it is a distinctive ‘piece’ as they say. Laska, I have Alix trousers from a 10-16. They all fit and I am neither of those sizes!

TempleofZoom · 20/08/2021 16:54

@iguanadonna

The crinkled cotton dress with blue grid pattern arrived and it is wonderful. Thank you, enablers.

A generous 18 with room for broad shoulders and significant norkage. Slightly large from waist down, but not silly large. Scrumptious fabric which I assume won't need ironing, a major plus. Feel and appearance unmistakable quality.

A small thing, but I was disproportionately pleased that it arrived neatly wrapped in tissue paper in its paper bag, instead of in a sad crumpled ball at the bottom as previous recent purchases have done.

Its beautiful fabric isnt it? So glad you like it. My order of Loden Gabis and the Batik dress arrived quickly , this morning, wrapped in tissue and folded rather than shoved in the bag all crumpled. Have had a look at the new stuff and am very happy to see that Toast have used Jamieson and Smith Shetland wool for the Fairisle Jumper-although it was made in Romania Confused I love the cream wool cotton aran cardigan and the flat front denim culottes. The pictures on the website are a vast improvement, you can see what things actually look like .

It looks so good styled in this way! Love it! Looks sooooo much better than what they had it on with in the styling conversations.

I am a 38 but fairly wide feet , do they come up narrow? what coloura re they Scottish Mouse ?
ScottishMouse · 20/08/2021 17:13

@Laska2Meryls, I don’t think they are narrow, no. I have a slightly wider foot and they fit me with plenty of room for a thick sock. There is good fit info on the Kitty Clogs website, this is what they say about this style:
The fit of this style is true to size in length and ideal for regular - slightly wider foot widths.
They are the cumin colour. These ones:

Thanks @neveradullmoment99. I think it would look good with lots of different types of dresses. But I wanted it more to wear with trousers, and that seems trickier. Might try some more with it tomorrow, but I’m leaning towards reluctantly returning it.

Really? Why? Its gorgeous with the dress!
neveradullmoment99 · 20/08/2021 17:27

I love the clogs but I am a 6.5. Also have way too many shoes anyway!

neveradullmoment99 · 20/08/2021 17:28

Gorgeous though. Y

neveradullmoment99 · 20/08/2021 17:28

Sorry random Y there!

ScottishMouse · 20/08/2021 17:29

I just don’t think I would get enough wear out of it to justify the cost @neveradullmoment99. It’s not quite as versatile as I had hoped. I will sleep on it though before making a decision.

ScottishMouse · 20/08/2021 17:32

I am the opposite @neveradullmoment99, I own hardly any shoes. Was delighted the clogs fitted me, as I have trouble getting shoes that fit, but really should have thought about my ankle!
Would really like to sell them to someone who would love them and wear them. I hate having things in my wardrobe that I won’t wear, plus I could do with recouping some of the cost so I can get something that does work for me.

Laska2Meryls · 20/08/2021 17:38

Well it looks like I have true kipper feet!I just measured and its 10cm at widest point.. Kitty clogs website says 9cm at widest point .. Ah well..

TempleofZoom · 20/08/2021 17:42

@neveradullmoment99

Not much I liked on the styling video tbh. Cord skirt and blue dress - Yes. The handmade jumper, beautiful wool, awful shape for me. The cream embroidered dress. Lovely but how on earth would you style it in winter? Black tights [ My staple] Just too harsh with it. I would feel a tad like I had a posh nightie on. Its a no from me. Harlequin clown doll shirt - just never ever ever. I do like the gilet but it looks so short. Not sure. I would like it longer. It is what put me off the floral one. Really not sure about the beige tiered skirt. What did others think? I did not like how it was stleyed. Thought the jumper was a horrible colour. I just did not like the way it was styled at all. The cord dress - Nope.
Bit disappointed with the tiered skirt -horribly styled Im afraid. Why put the clown shirt with a yoked ( that is not fairisle!)sweater? The detail on the yoke should be the feature , it doesnt need a blue frill in addition. Dont get me started on the socks ! Im afraid that Im so old that the neck tie, shirt and jerkin combo screamed David Essex to me. The cord skirt is beautiful and I love the check dress
Laska2Meryls · 20/08/2021 17:42

ebay them?
Having said that .. I just pulled my latest ebay listing ( new denim pinafore with tags) because I was getting really silly low offers and their fees are now 12.8% ( and they also take fees for postage charges !! ) plus 30p per item..

Laska2Meryls · 20/08/2021 17:46

.. wasn't worth my while selling it .. ill just have to wear it after all!

ScottishMouse · 20/08/2021 17:48

That’s a shame @Laska2Meryls. Yes, I will probably stick them on ebay, but you’re right, the fees are a bit silly now.

ScottishMouse · 20/08/2021 17:51

@TempleofZoom, totally agree about the frilly blouse with the yoked sweater. I like the sweater (although I prefer the darker brown version), but that shirt is awful, and with the sweater it is just too much. I don’t like the frill collars at all, I would think that they suit very few people.

TempleofZoom · 20/08/2021 17:51

It looks lovely with the dress . However if it warm enough to wear the chambray dress ,would you need a padded gilet over the top?
Countmeout · 20/08/2021 17:53

Oh it’s lovely with the Edith dress @ScottishMouse. Perfect proportions.

OP posts:
ScottishMouse · 20/08/2021 17:54

Yes @TempleofZoom, quite. I don’t wear dresses much in autumn/winter, tend to throw them on on a warm day, so I’m not sure I would wear it with dresses. With trousers it might be more useful, but it looks terrible over short sleeves and over sweaters, and I don’t do a lot of in between. I love a layered look, but I have never been good at putting them together.
