Which engagement ring should I choose?

DH and I have had a horrendous year with lots of ups and downs. One of the downs was me losing my engagement ring which wasn't to my taste but meant a lot since it was from him. He's agreed to buy me another but this time I've insisted it'll be a joint venture and I'll have the final say since I'll be wearing it. The trouble is, all the rings I like, he hates. So I've made a shortlist and have decided that I like this one:

DH is disgusted and calls it an old lady ring (I'm mid 30s). What does everyone think? Is it over the top? Is it vulgar? I love it- the solitaires, trilogies, etc. just aren't doing it for this time around :/

It’s not a shell, it’s a sunburst - I was using the image as an example of Art Deco. The sunburst is a class Deco motif.

To add - I’m not in the UK. I’m not going to suggest shops or actual rings, as I have no idea.

I just google image searched, to give some ideas of nice examples of Art Deco style rings (which I steadfastly maintain the the first ring is not, even if it was made in the 1920s or 30s), as possible alternatives.

Here’s mine - 1930s and not boring, I don’t think. I think your first ring is very marmite but if you like it that’s all that matters!

It’s not Art Deco!!!

I’m pretty sure panels and the geometric feature of solitaires in square settings are key features of Art Deco rings. Unlike that sunburst monstrosity

I really like the first ring OP, I love how unique it is and how you won't see anyone else wearing it. I adore antique jewellery for this very reason and the history behind it. I also like the fact that it's a love or hate piece! It makes a statement for sure!
