I so enjoyed the cocktail ring thread and noted so did quite a few others
What other lovely pieces have you bought, inherited or been given?

I’ll start off with this diamond star pendant which although looks quite recent is actually hall marked for 1945 so presumably was to mark end of WW2
I fell in love with it at an antiques fair and just had to have it
I love the mixture of white and yellow gold and it’s simplicity

That is a beautiful pendant. Striking but very wearable. Nothing of my own to add (sadly!) but I loved seeing yours.

Mermaidwaves · 23/06/2021 22:49

@JaceLancs
That pendant is beautiful! I adore vintage jewellery, I love to wonder who owned it and the history behind it. I haven't bought new for a long time as I don't think the quality is the same now with a lot of mass produced stuff.

RandomCatGenerator · 23/06/2021 22:52

Watching this!

JaceLancs · 23/06/2021 22:57

Thank you @Mermaidwaves and @JofraArchersFastestBall
I love to imagine the past from who wore jewellery I own to when I’m out shopping somewhere with vintage arcades I think of the Victorian or Edwardian shoppers and what they were wearing and buying
I see my pendant as a victory star - my lovely DF who died a couple of years ago in his 90s was a WW2 veteran and had two stars amongst his war medals which DM still treasures

This is very beautiful

Sadly, I have nothing to offer! My nan left me a very unusual black enamel watch, extremely thin, but the enamel wore off. It's at my parents somewhere but we are not clear where to go to get it restored. On the list of things to do. Not valuable but very unusual.

Eaumyword · 23/06/2021 22:58

My lovely mum gave me her pretty opal earrings. They were a wedding gift, so 1960's. I think they are a bit different and I love them as an alternative to diamond studs.

Stunning
I feel as if there are big differences in how jewellery is made now

bendmeoverbackwards · 23/06/2021 23:38

Great thread, I will post mine tomorrow.

They are lovely Opal earrings @Eaumyword
It’s not my birthstone but I do love opals and pearls despite people thinking they are unlucky

Recently purchased this diamond bracelet
I’ve been converted by DD to allowing white gold into my life occasionally!

These are beautiful. @JaceLancs I love both of the pieces you have posted. I have nothing to offer unfortunately

Iamthewombat · 24/06/2021 09:21

I like that bracelet. Is it ‘pre-loved’? I am stalking one similar.

JaceLancs · 24/06/2021 09:26

Very pre loved!
I bought it last week from Antique Centre in Lincolnshire

A couple of years ago I lost a diamond bracelet whilst on holiday in Turkey - after a long battle I eventually got insurance payout that I was happy with - but have never found one as nice as the one I lost - so keep buying them and then sell on when I find a better one!
This is nice enough to stay with me for a while! It was also a real bargain considering the amount of diamonds

@JaceLancs
Yes new jewellery doesn't seem as special somehow and I don't see it as unlucky, just giving something probably very loved a new home. I adopt pets too so it's a theme!
The story about your dads medals is lovely too Smile

If you like vintage jewellery, this place is amazing: not cheap, but you can find some gorgeous pieces that you can keep as they are or (as I tend to do) have them taken apart to have something else made www.graysantiques.com/

I bought this bracelet for myself. I do like this designer, Gail Klevan. She majesty acrylic jewelry.
