What do you think of these sandals?

I’m late 30s and pregnant, so not interested in heels at the moment. However even before I got pregnant I felt my style had gone a bit boring and mumsy, so I’d like to buy some sandals for the summer that look nice.
I have a Hobbs voucher - what do people think of these?

I'm 26 and love them! Very classy. I also love the other colour.

LaCerbiatta · 04/06/2021 19:51

LOL 😆 No, no fluffy sliders! I'm neither young nor trendy but I do like nice sandals.

When I say old ladyish sandals, I mean this style for example, often worn by some old women.

This is not ageism, it's nothing against anyone's choice of footwear just maybe a poor description of a particular style of sandals.

And as someone said above, this is style and beauty and the word frumpy totally belongs here!

dorangme · 04/06/2021 19:53

Nice if you're 60+, sorry!

Er most older people chose practical shoes which are not these, a strap is essential.

Blossomtoes · 04/06/2021 19:53

I disagree but if it continues to be used, ffs stop conflating it with age.

Hear hear. Frumpy is subjective, and in no way, shape or form does it have anything to do with older age.

Whosaidit · 04/06/2021 20:06

Agree that frumpy means without style, not related to age at all.

tinselvestsparklepants · 04/06/2021 20:53

Wear your Birkenstocks and get some neon toenail varnish.

😂😂😂ok
dorangme · 04/06/2021 21:48

Not sure where you live but it's the youngsters near me who wear the Hermes style rip offs like the OPs one.

dorangme · 04/06/2021 21:50

All the 60 yrs olds I know like my mum like a clumpy DM sandal.

goose1964 · 04/06/2021 21:59

The Orla and Katie are much nicer

EllaPaella · 05/06/2021 00:08

@Ihopeyourcakeisshit

I like them. I can't believe some of the alternative suggestions being posted, which are the epitome of frumpiness. Some of them are like a Lake District walking sandal worn by members of Slackthwaite ramblers.
Grinyep!! So true

@Mitford1789

Thanks for the advice everyone - I didn’t mean to start a frumpy debate! I’ve gone for the orla sandals so we’ll see....however I did dig out my Birkenstock’s today on the basis of these suggestions, having not worn them since buying them in the first lockdown, and actually they do look a bit trendier than I thought! Comfy too...maybe I was too quick to dismiss them! I might ask for how to regain my style once baby no 2 (and there is not going to be a baby no 3!) is here.
@Mitford1789 I wouldn’t get buckles or anything you need to fasten, when you get bigger you’ll struggle to bend down and fasten them.
SadSongsAndWaltzes · 05/06/2021 11:00

Wow I've never known Style and Beauty to be so nasty! Saying you don't like something is one thing, but going out of your way to insult posters who are trying to help isn't what I thought this board was about. Let alone the poor Slackthwaite Ramblers - what did they ever do to you?!

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 05/06/2021 11:41
Grin
jannyapple · 05/06/2021 15:19

I think they look very classy and comfy
If you are pregnant I'd say have whatever you feel comfortable in ... to hell with anyone's opinion
You can think of a style overhaul later if you so wish ...

BreakingtheIce · 05/06/2021 18:24

I saw them in Hobbs today. Thought they looked really drab. Sorry.

mathanxiety · 05/06/2021 19:12

I like the 'Katie' sandals a lot more than the 'Orla'. The chunkier sole will balance you out better as you increase in girth, and also provide more cushioning for your feet.

Namechangeme1 · 06/06/2021 12:04

I think they're nice but maybe try shops like mango and Zara or aldo and you'd find something a bit more on trend
