What do you think of these sandals?

I’m late 30s and pregnant, so not interested in heels at the moment. However even before I got pregnant I felt my style had gone a bit boring and mumsy, so I’d like to buy some sandals for the summer that look nice.
I have a Hobbs voucher - what do people think of these?

Oh and those saying they're old lady but then suggesting saltwaters or Seasalt - couldn't disagree more! Those are the epitome of frumpy / old lady, surely?

RickiTarr · 04/06/2021 08:03

Seasalt (whole range) and saltwater (two styles). are very different from each other @LeCerbiatta and Birkenstocks are different again.

I think everyone is trying to brainstorm different types of quality leather sandals to suggest. It’s leading to disparate suggestions.

RickiTarr · 04/06/2021 08:06

Sorry, meant to say it’s a matter of taste but surely you can’t find all flat leather sandals “frumpy”.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 04/06/2021 08:09

I think that how they look will very much depend on what else you wear with them. And with a beautiful pedicure, they could look classy and elegant. Much better than the fugly walking sandals that are everywhere.

BitchIAmFromChicago · 04/06/2021 08:09

H&M have got some lovely sandals in at the minute!

AllIknowsofar · 04/06/2021 08:15

I think they’re lovely but a bit expensive for me.

LubaLuca · 04/06/2021 08:23

My toes would be knackered trying to grip on to those bad boys if I wanted to walk anything faster than a very slow stroll, and the sound of them slapping would annoy me.

They're exactly the sort of thing I'd buy though, because I'm a fool for things that are navy and trick me by looking comfy.

Standrewsschool · 04/06/2021 08:26

I think they look quite smart and are dressy sandals rather than everyday sandals. I agree with @MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously that they would lovely with a nice pedicure.

The teva ones are walking sandals, not stylish for everyday wear. Fine for walk over hills and moors.

What’s your dress style? Is it classic and Parisian? more boho? Retro? This may affect what sandal you end up with.

Fit-flop brand may be worth considering if you want something comfy to walk on in your last few weeks of pregnancy.

Why don’t you save the Hobbs voucher to treat yourself with something new post pregnancy?

Standrewsschool · 04/06/2021 08:28

Prefer the Seasalt sandals.

OldTinHat · 04/06/2021 08:29

I like them but wouldn't pay £79 for them.

thisplaceisweird · 04/06/2021 08:29

If you want to avoid mumsy then Hobbs isn't the place you should be shopping in your 30s!!
My mother and grandmother shop there

LaCerbiatta · 04/06/2021 08:38

Yes, I know the difference and know them all well.
StCharlotte · 04/06/2021 08:45

I think they're lovely although I'm not keen on black sandals personally.

I have a couple of similar pairs and they're fine to walk in. I even took my driving test in a pair (had completely forgotten about it when I was getting dressed that day).

RestingCatsBumFace · 04/06/2021 08:50

I bought the Seasalt Pine Track sandals after trying many of their others. They are very comfortable but look a bit hefty. However, after many years of trying to find sandals I can walk in for more than a few minutes, I no longer care. Pine Track, also because my feet swell and there is 'give' in them. Kite Flying sandals were OK but not as good for my foot shape.

I found that their completely flat sandals are a bit too flat and were difficult to walk in, even though I have no problem walking barefoot.

OrangePowder · 04/06/2021 08:54

I like them. But I'm a 50yo mum and I look it. I'd wear them happily, actually I think I'd get a lot of wear from them, but I wouldn't be kidding myself that they were making my wardrobe less boring.

Just to be clear, frumpy and old lady mean the same thing to you lacerbiatta? Hmm
Whosaidit · 04/06/2021 09:04

They’re almost the same as the dune ones which were all over Instagram a couple of years ago, and every other shoe shop did a
Copy of them. Appreciate the dune ones are a copy of something too, maybe Hermes? I like them and have the dune ones. They’re not casual though, for walking, they’re much dressier so it depends what you want them
For really I guess.

Here are the dune ones

What do you think of these sandals?
Bythehairywartsonmywitchychin · 04/06/2021 09:08

Don’t get anything with a buckle that you have to fasten, you need something you can slip on because 1. Your feet will more than likely swell 2. You’ll have problems bending down and reaching your feet the further you get on.

These are nice

Or these

Notavegan · 04/06/2021 09:13

Uncomfortable I reckon too.

mammmamia · 04/06/2021 09:20

I agree about much of the Hobbs style especially the prints, but I’ve had some lovely things from their sale that look great. I think there’s a Hobbs ‘look’ which isn’t me at all and yet their non print stuff can be fab.

Londonlassy · 04/06/2021 09:24

Frumpy

SprayedWithDettol · 04/06/2021 09:25

They are dull, but Hobbs isn’t exactly cutting edge. I imagine they are well made and comfortable though.

jennyt82 · 04/06/2021 09:43

I have those in tan and love them, they go with loads of different outfits. But like someone else said,my feet were so swollen at he end of my last pregnancy I ruined the only comfortable shoes I had by stretching them out!

FaceAcher · 04/06/2021 09:57

They'd be better without the heel. I think that ages them.

Have you looked at Salt Water sandals? So comfy and more fashionable. I have a couple of colours and live in them or Havainas all summer.

LaCerbiatta · 04/06/2021 10:33

No, not at all, but somethings are both frumpy and something you associate with someone in their 80s, like imo some of the seasalts.
