What do you think of these sandals?

I’m late 30s and pregnant, so not interested in heels at the moment. However even before I got pregnant I felt my style had gone a bit boring and mumsy, so I’d like to buy some sandals for the summer that look nice.
I have a Hobbs voucher - what do people think of these?

I really like them, I actually ordered them via next and they arrived today. Unfortunately I couldn't really push my foot in properly (if that makes sense), I'm not sure why as I'm slim and only a size 3! Maybe I just have weird feet.

londonscalling · 04/06/2021 00:28

Sorry but they are boring. How about a pair of converse? They are versatile as they look nice with summer dresses and jeans!

ErrolTheDragon · 04/06/2021 00:29

@SadSongsAndWaltzes

I'm not keen I'm afraid, but we probably have very different styles. I always have something like these for summer: www.teva-eu.com/en/gb/womens-tirra-strappy-leather-sandals/4177.html?dwvar_4177_color=RUST

They're so comfy for any kind of terrain and I like the sturdy, utilitarian look, I think they go with anything (appreciate you all may disagree 😂).

I always have something like that - as walking sandals. I'm 60....Grin
Wegobshite · 04/06/2021 00:55

I would feel like I’m my mum in those - and she’s dead 😂
They are very bland nameless & they look boring

JackieTheFart · 04/06/2021 01:17

I'm 38 and I wouldn't wear them. They scream Old Lady to me, sorry.

I do love Birkenstocks though, I do tend to dress more hippy in the summer. I love a patterned pair of Madrids!

DramaAlpaca · 04/06/2021 01:25

They're a bit meh. Inoffensive but not exciting. I'm in my 50s and I wouldn't choose them. They look comfy though.

katy1213 · 04/06/2021 01:33

They look uncomfortable; your feet will be slipping out of them and the soles look slippy.

wheresmymojo · 04/06/2021 01:53

I'm 39 and I would wear them!

From a style perspective I go for a sort of Parisian chic vibe - classic, neutral pieces.

I agree that these are similar to Hermes sliders which are on trend this season (as an alternative to the clumpy sandals also on trend).

I think this is just a case of people's different styles - I wouldn't be seen dead in the clumpy fugly sandals that are also on trend because they just aren't me.

Other people wouldn't be seen dead in these.

There's no right or wrong objectively!

HeartvsBrain · 04/06/2021 02:02

Are you used to wearing sandals that are slip ons OP? I have tried in the past, but I just can't get on with them - my feet keep on slipping about, and I almost fall over in them - which is not particularly healthy, especially when youare pregnant.

The colour is fine as it will go with almost everything, and as a pp said, if you do where these, wear them with lovely painted toenails, and maybe an ankle chain if your ankles haven't swollen too much!

However, I don't think that the heel, and sole look very comfortable, as they don't look very supple or flexible, so if you are going to be walking in them a lot, then I don't think that these ones are the best choice.

HeartvsBrain · 04/06/2021 02:10

ps sorry for my lazy spelling mistakes!

Pieceofpurplesky · 04/06/2021 02:12

They don't look comfortable

SwordPlay · 04/06/2021 02:18

If I was gonna buy them, I'd go for the white ones - sexier, more feminine and more summery..
and yes they do look a bit boring but it TOTALLY depends on the outfit.

SwordPlay · 04/06/2021 02:21

Or these ones, if you're set on buying from Hobbs:
www.hobbs.com/product/orla-suede-sandals/0121-MA24-002H015-NAVY.html

Definitely more chic and elegant, yet still look comfortable xx

BusterGonad · 04/06/2021 04:03

They are boring but I can see that they are classy and sensible. They are as another poster put it 'pleasant'.

musthavebeenlove · 04/06/2021 04:28

They are lovely but might not fit properly anymore after you get swollen feet during later in your pregnancy

Mitford1789 · 04/06/2021 05:39

@SadSongsAndWaltzes I just can’t get on with the utilitarian look - i know its super trendy. I’m not a fan of the white clumpy trainers I see everywhere either. I have big feet so maybe that’s it.

Ok I feel like general vibe is they’re a bit meh and as I’m worried my style is meh (plus maybe the backless heel could be annoying) I will leave. However @SwordPlay I do like those...might get them actually! Grin

If the sole is hard the clacking from the flapping heel will drive you insane. Nothing quite like being haunted by your own shoes...

If you want a mule, I think you need an inch heel or wedge to recruit gravity into keeping them on.

I’m biased, though, as I’ve been waiting twenty years to feel grown up enough for Hobbs and it still isn’t really happening.

RickiTarr · 04/06/2021 05:52

Is there anything in the Seasalt sandal collection you like? It’s a bit more practical and wearable, I think. Similar colours to the red and green versions of that pair @SwordPlay linked too.

otterbaby · 04/06/2021 06:21

Yeah they're a bit...elderly. I feel like they're not the right choice if you're already feeling a bit outdated.

Great shout for Seasalt sandals.

However you will pry my Birkenstock's out of my cold, dead hands Grin

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 04/06/2021 06:27

They’re an ‘homage’ to the Hermes slides that have been Insta fashion for a few years. The Hermes / Insta usually fake.

gingerbiscuit19 · 04/06/2021 06:29

They look very uncomfortable to me!

MarshaBradyo · 04/06/2021 06:47

No from me. They look too uncomfortable / hard to wear and not that great overall

FirmlyRooted · 04/06/2021 07:00

I like them a lot! Would look greaf with dresses or wide trousers. Not sure how comfortable they'd be and the sole is totally smooth, no grip at all.

Winkywonkydonkey · 04/06/2021 07:01

No I'm 37 and they look so old to me. So require you to keep heels very nice which might be tricky with a bump. I'd go for saltwaters or Skechers

LaCerbiatta · 04/06/2021 07:51

They're nice and not frumpy or old ladyish at all. I too prefer birkenstocks but they're a different style, for the style the op appears to be after, these are nice. Also like the [[https://www.hobbs.com/product/sienna-leather-sandals-/0121-MA23-001H015-TAN.html#cgid=shoes-sandals&is=false&sz=60&start=0&isSecondPage=false&pid=0121-MA23-001H015-TAN&pos=26
Sienna's ]]

The outdoors ones like the tevas linked above may be trendy at the moment but not everyone can pull them off, they look super frumpy on most people...
