What do you think of these sandals?

I’m late 30s and pregnant, so not interested in heels at the moment. However even before I got pregnant I felt my style had gone a bit boring and mumsy, so I’d like to buy some sandals for the summer that look nice.
I have a Hobbs voucher - what do people think of these?

Thanks for the advice everyone - I didn’t mean to start a frumpy debate! I’ve gone for the orla sandals so we’ll see....however I did dig out my Birkenstock’s today on the basis of these suggestions, having not worn them since buying them in the first lockdown, and actually they do look a bit trendier than I thought! Comfy too...maybe I was too quick to dismiss them! I might ask for how to regain my style once baby no 2 (and there is not going to be a baby no 3!) is here.

Sorry @Mitford1789, I hijacked your thread. It was my fault.

I'm not going to avoid the term frumpy. It's a reality that some things just are. I think there's little point in pretending it's not a factor in shopping decisions, especially on S&B.

There are some clothes which just say that the wearer has given up on all notion of looking attractive/pretty/stylish/whatever and just wants to blend into the floor - that for me is what frumpy means.
It doesn't help an OP to pretend it isn't a thing. Although what constitutes frumpy may be subjective, since how things look often depends on the wearer

Mitford1789 · 04/06/2021 15:27

Don’t worry @Blossomtoes Smile

For the love of God, it's sandals. Is there no where one can escape the endless bickering on this site.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 04/06/2021 16:36

I like them. I can't believe some of the alternative suggestions being posted, which are the epitome of frumpiness.
Some of them are like a Lake District walking sandal worn by members of Slackthwaite ramblers.

midsomermurderess · 04/06/2021 16:50

I agree about Clark's. I got these last year. The feel almost bouncy to wear but I do find the strap and bit tricky, getting the buckle fastened.

Ruthietuthie · 04/06/2021 16:56

I think they are lovely. Very chic. Go for it!

RestingCatsBumFace · 04/06/2021 17:04

@LaCerbiatta

No, not at all, but somethings are both frumpy and something you associate with someone in their 80s, like imo some of the seasalts.
Pleased to know I dress like an 80 year old. The OP wants comfort.

Some of the younger generations look bloody awful, are you one of those that wears those stupid fluffy slippers called sliders out in public?

Iggi999 · 04/06/2021 18:13

Is there a colour of sandal that is more fashionable this year?

MaryJosephJesusAndTheWeeDonkey · 04/06/2021 18:17

Horrible (sorry). They are so....old fashioned and sorry again but.... mumsy!

I agree! Was just about to write the same but now don't have to. What is going on?
dorangme · 04/06/2021 18:24

Am I looking at the right sandals? Navy mules? they are completely inoffensive so very confused!

lanbro · 04/06/2021 18:25

Old lady sandals I'm afraid...have a look at FitFlop

Veryverycalmnow · 04/06/2021 18:28

Slippery- I need a bit more of an attachment between my feet and the sandals, something to make them sty on, otherwise I walk funny trying to keep them on. How about you? They're stylish, so if you don't think they'll give you the slip, go for it.

What?! How is Fitflop less "old lady" (your term).

MaMelon · 04/06/2021 18:43

Fitflops aren’t “old lady”??! Yes they are! Grin Nothing wrong with that of course.

Iggi999 · 04/06/2021 18:44

Maybe any time someone wants to put the word "old", "granny" etc in style and beauty they could mentally replace it with "old fashioned" or "not on trend" or whatever?

putcarpetdown · 04/06/2021 19:00

I like them and a lot of the others are frumpy IMO - but just shows, different strokes so trust what you like and find comfortable. I’ve got DM sandals this year for the first time and am sometimes wearing them with socks, which I’m told is trendy but, also for the first time, I don’t care Smile and it’s a lovely feeling.

mathanxiety · 04/06/2021 19:04

They'll clack as you walk and give you blisters under the straps.

putcarpetdown · 04/06/2021 19:06

Oh yeah and enuff with ‘old lady’ as an insult. You’ll be old yourself one day, if you’re lucky, and you’ll probably find you don’t repulse yourself in the mirror. Other people’s taste has got fuck all to do with age. You don’t wake up the day of your 50th birthday and crave a handkerchief hem you know.

Angbunnyboo · 04/06/2021 19:12

I think they look good, very chic and something my french relatives would wear ( they are all tres chic!)

If I wasn’t going to be laid up in bed all summer due to various surgeries I’d get some. In fact I may just get some and save them for next summer!

user7891011 · 04/06/2021 19:27

Nice if you're 60+, sorry!
