Women you think are ageing beautifully with no intervention

Hi,

So I was watching This Morning and Sharon Marshall was on and I was thinking she must be 50 now and looks absolutely incredible. Not that you can't look incredible at 50, whether you actually look 50 or 30!! This isn't age bashing ATALL, but I just thought how refreshing it was to see a woman looking so good, with no hint of the pillow face, which more and more women seem to be getting these days to fight off the wrinkles.

I'm not anti botox, fillers etc, but I do worry that so many women feel pressure to have this look, rather than daring to grow old/er naturally, because that's what we see as the norm.

Anyway, this isn't an anti anything thread, I just wondered who you thought was growing older particularly beautifully, naturally.

Cacacoisfarraige, as did her sister 'Debo', the late Dowager Duchess of Devonshire.
I had a soft spot for her. I think she ran Chatsworth brilliantly. Used to see her there in the farmyard occasionally, feeding the chickens, in her wellies.

Oh God yes, Gillian Anderson is sublime. I don't know if she's had anything done but she's more beautiful now than she was in the X Files days.

Just saw Ali MacGraw - she looks amazing!
She is 79 l think?

groovergirl · 08/06/2021 06:26

Ginny Buckley. Fifty-ish and still lithe and shiny-haired.

Ohchristmastreeohchristmastree · 08/06/2021 07:26

Charlotte Rampling
Gillian Anderson
Both have class, grace, intelligence and a slightly (as some else said about Charlotte) other worldly quality.

Tilda Swinton, Kristin Scott Thomas, Mads Mikkleson and David Bowie also have/had this.

I also think if work has been done it is on the jawline/ neck and not wrinkles or anything else. I love Charlotte Rampling’s hodded eyelids, mine are going that way and and I am excited about that.

IntermittentParps · 08/06/2021 09:50

Just googled Ali MacGraw. Wow, she is really, really beautiful.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 08/06/2021 10:19

Ali Macgraw is an advert for not shoving loads of shite into your face.

Yes, she was beautiful to start with and she had gorgeous bone structure.

But so many people are like this and shove so much filler in that they look like balloons or melted candles.

She is stunning.

Balloons and melted candles are not.

@IntermittentParps

Just googled Ali MacGraw. Wow, she is really, really beautiful.
Yes… and after my post l realised she is actually 82!
IntermittentParps · 08/06/2021 11:39

She's never 82!
This pic is about 5 years old now, admittedly, but it is amazing.

Ali MacGraw has a timeless beauty. Really exquisite. Also, in the same category is Audrey Hepburn.

Lebowitzlove · 08/06/2021 20:15

@heyho2015

I watched the French series 'Call my agent' on Netflix. Filled with beautiful women, looking their age, but so attractive and glamorous. Made me realise how used to that certain American version of attractive we've got used to seeing on our screens. Oh, and they had glasses of red wine with their lunches!
I was thinking exactly that too. They looked so much better.
lalafafa · 08/06/2021 20:19

Ive seen Joan Collins up close and her face is heavily lined, bull shit about keeping her face out of the sun.
Nigella goes to FPJ, very subtle work www.drfrancesprennajones.com/

withlotsoflove · 08/06/2021 20:24

Tbf though , Joan Collins is nearly 90 / she’d be lined even if she’s kept her face from the sun!

Baycitystroller · 08/06/2021 20:57

Oh yes. Some gorgeous women. Including Arlette. Andrea also has quite a prominent nose which if she was in Hollywood I expect would have been ‘fine’ by now.

Baycitystroller · 08/06/2021 20:57

Above is in relation to Call My Agent btw

TheScottishPlay · 08/06/2021 21:21

I agree with pp who mentioned Lindsay Duncan. She looked wonderful in Discovery of Witches (as did Trevor Eve).

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 08/06/2021 22:16

Lesley Sharp too.

Lebowitzlove · 09/06/2021 08:29

@Babycitystroller
Andrea has a great profile. You’re right that in America there would have been work.
It seems like such a different approach. They look great but are not trying to look younger than they are.

Lebowitzlove · 09/06/2021 08:32

On the theme of my username, Fran Lebowitz is in her 70s I think and looks it. She also still seems edgy, sexy and cool which I think a lot of the filled and botoxed crowd lose. Her mannerisms, her facial expressions and her great dress sense are still there. She is herself but older.

MadameQuaver · 09/06/2021 08:34

I know she's not well liked but Yoko Ono looks great for someone in her eighties! Very trim and stylish.

CherryRipe1 · 09/06/2021 10:03

@MadameQuaver

Used to see her when I lived in Notting Dale, she's so petite, carries herself very well & has charisma.
Floisme · 09/06/2021 11:22

I agree about Yoko Ono and Fran Lebowitz. I always find stylish women who look their age far more interesting than women who just look younger than they are. I always think there's a limit to what we can do about our faces and really, they might look nice but so what? But expressing ourselves through how we dress - now that takes thought and creativity and I love how some women get better at it as they get older.

IntermittentParps · 09/06/2021 12:22

YES, Fran Lebowitz!
And Yoko.

Haven't seenCall My Agent, but this thread makes me want to, if only for the beautiful non-worked women Grin

ineedcoffeeandchocolate · 09/06/2021 12:22

Helena Christiensen is my favourite supermodel and she still looks beautiful. Elle Macpherson looks great too but I think she is a bit too thin.
