@EvilPea

I’m too short and dumpy for the trainers bit
You are not. Go for it!
MarieIVanArkleStinks · 31/05/2021 14:08

I've stopped wearing heels almost entirely except the occasional wedges; Dr Marten boots or sandals and Converses are now my staples (together with the odd pair from Fly London). Very formal attire is something I've been noticing people wear less and less, even before the pandemic came along. Suits me fine.

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 31/05/2021 14:09

@maddiemookins16mum

Better than unflattering leggings and vest tops showing too much pasty flab.
You saw me out for my run/jog/walk/waddle in the park yesterday morning, then?

Don't worry, I won't offend your eyes for much longer - my gym membership goes live at midnight. Just stay away from my route home.

(How the fuck am I supposed to get fitter/slimmer if I'm only allowed to wear suitable clothing once I'm already fitter/slimmer?)

Maireas · 31/05/2021 14:11

@NeverDropYourMoonCup - a burka for thee, lass, lest thy flesh offends! Seriously, well done on the fitness Grin

SoMuchForSummerLove · 31/05/2021 14:12

Emerald hair?? I want that!!

Maireas · 31/05/2021 14:13

At least there's colour. I like colourful clothing but for months people have been in black leggings and black puffas... bring on the chintzy florals.

WhoisRebecca · 31/05/2021 14:21

I love this trend too. This is what I’m wearing today, minus the jacket as it’s really warm!

I am v much not a dress person, but just went on to Nobody's Child to score myself a dress. Everything in my size (12) is sold out. Bah.

WhatsGoingOnHereThen · 31/05/2021 14:32

I might pop into town after work to see if I can find anything. I have a 20wk bump but hoping for a floaty style with a stretchy/loose tummy area!

LawnFever · 31/05/2021 14:32

@MarieIVanArkleStinks

I was wearing this kind of thing in the 90s!
In the 90s I was more converse or DMs than white trainers but yeah there’s definitely a similarity 😊
AlmostSummer21 · 31/05/2021 14:35

@Flowers500

I love the fact that fashion now is such a hilarious clusterfuck. I love that some people are wearing trends from 2 years ago, some look like they’ve used their Ibiza outfits, others are in ball gowns, some still in head to toe gym. I don’t think there are any fashion rules at the moment!
There never are.
CatherineCawood · 31/05/2021 14:35

That active wear video is brilliant 👏🤣

FilledSoda · 31/05/2021 14:38

I'm literally wearing a floaty dress from the 90's today.
I lost a couple of stone and I'm finding all sorts of things fitting me again . This dress is so old it has the St Bernard tag. Better quality than a lot of stuff these days , it's like new.

Janaih · 31/05/2021 14:41

St Bernard

St Michael? GrinGrinGrin

Mypathtriedtokillme · 31/05/2021 14:44

@Serpenta

Any takers for white sports sock teamed with sliders a la Justin Bieber?
I call it the mail box shuffle look. That’s the only time it’s acceptable.
WTFisNext · 31/05/2021 14:44

I'm a new convert to white daps + summery clothes...although the floaty floral dress makes me look like Homer when he decides to be super fat! I blame the boobs, they make everything look like a marquee if it's not fitted

However I still wear bootcut jeans because they're my favourite style so maybe I'm confirmation that white daps are now passé

Serpenta · 31/05/2021 14:44

St Bernard is from the Irish Dunnes Stores chain

Janaih · 31/05/2021 14:46

Oh right, apologies!

ChairmansReserve · 31/05/2021 14:47

Lucky you. I was in town (central London) yesterday and saw far more bulging bare midriffs than I wanted or needed to.

CarnationCat · 31/05/2021 14:47

I like this look. I don't do it myself thought. I'm more shorts, playsuits and sometimes cullotes. Comfy but cute.

As a pp said, it's so interesting seeing the diversity in people's summer outfits. Floaty dresses, crop tops, playsuits, jumpsuits, denim shorts etc.

Arbadacarba · 31/05/2021 14:53

I'm seeing a lot of puff sleeve denim jackets out and about - I must say I quite like them. Are they the latest thing? Don't seem to remember seeing them before.

Chewbecca · 31/05/2021 14:59

I think it suits willowy women. I am also short and round and sadly it doesn’t work.

FuzzyPuffling · 31/05/2021 15:00

Good.
Practical.

JSL52 · 31/05/2021 15:08

I do the dress and trainers but look hideous in a denim jacket 😬

PickAChew · 31/05/2021 15:15

@JudgeJ fabric shops are full of cheesecloth/double gauze, broderie, and other airy textured cottons, this summer, so there is hope. I don't like wearing dresses but did make this top out of a Swiss dot cotton voile ready for the 3 days it's warm enough to wear it.
