Laughing at the ad that's inserted itself into this thread. Now they are hideous! Lots of different shades of hideous, it turns out. My screen shot landed on a tame one.

I've seen many more teens in long maxi skirts this weekend, I really like the look, a decade ago anything below the knee that wasn't trousers would've been scoffed at.

RickiTarr · 01/06/2021 19:22

I'm a size 12 but have 32E boobs, they just don't hang right!

I saw some cut for DD+ busts the other day. Either H&M or Next. I’m not sure which.

@OhGodNotThisAgain

Trainers are hideous. I hope some new better shoes will come into fashion for the brainless to wear
Say what? “Brainless”? Eh?
Standrewsschool · 01/06/2021 19:27

@MareofBeasttown

I am v much not a dress person, but just went on to Nobody's Child to score myself a dress. Everything in my size (12) is sold out. Bah.
Look on M and S - they sell Nobody’s child dresses, plus their own range of dresses is good also.
Jammysod · 01/06/2021 19:48

I love the look - flattering on all bodyshapes & hides a multitudes of lumps & bumps (luckily for me!)

AnnieSnap · 01/06/2021 19:54

I think it a great trend because it looks good (sans denim jacket) and is also very comfortable. I wonder if women will be prepared to wear uncomfortable clothes and shoes again after 16 months of being comfortable.

Do I lose my brain when I go to the gym and gain extra IQ points when I put on my heels?
Blossomtoes · 01/06/2021 19:58

@WhatsGoingOnHereThen

I wish I could wear this look but at 5ft3 and size 12 it just makes me look very short and fat especially as most dresses are designed for people 6 inches taller than me

Really? I'm also those things (when not pregnant) and think I look rather lovely in this sort of style! Agree a lot of dresses can be long but plenty out there fit fine

I agree. I don’t think people even try. I’ll give anything a go and not buy it if it looks wrong. I’m 5’ 2” and size 14, it’s one of my favourite looks.
honeygirlz · 01/06/2021 20:02

I couldn't wear this, I think I have sensory issues, the thought of a denim jacket touching my bare arms / neck makes me cringe.

Benjispruce3 · 01/06/2021 20:21

I have no idea what the current fashion is. I looked around the high st last week and there was nothing new.

TheBullfinch · 01/06/2021 20:27

I think they look good on very slim women, I look like a man in drag when i wear one (broad shoulders).

I wear jumpsuits a lot with a denim jacket and trainers. I like culottes too.

Let's face it, everything looks good on very slim women.

But we need to wear clothes, too. So we might as well wear whatever the hell we like.

MuchTooTired · 01/06/2021 20:38

I’m currently loving a floaty net (mesh?) princess maxi skirt with flip flops or converse if I’m not sure of the weather with an off the shoulder baggy top to hide the mum tum.

I felt really self conscious when I first wore it and was debating in my head if I was brave enough to wear it out of the house but DD (3) gasped and said “mama, you look beautiful!” to me which was instant confidence. She then dragged me over to show DH how pretty I looked (to her anyway!). I’ve now ordered a couple more and matching mini ones for her so we can rock it together Grin

User1110 · 01/06/2021 21:00

Haha, I am in SW London and was wondering around in this EXACT outfit today 🙃 I love how you just one thing on + shoes and your outfit is done!

Mandalay246 · 01/06/2021 21:02

A comfortable dress with Comfortable shoes is never going away.

Thank goodness.

White shoes are unflattering for large feet?

I've heard it all now. What is this world we live in where we're supposed to make even our feet look smaller??

I was actually talking about myself with my comment - I am very conscious of my larger feet when they are encased in white leather - I don't notice other people's though, and wasn't saying anyone with large feet shouldn't wear white trainers. I had a pair of white Superga and a pair of beige ones and the beige ones looked so much better on me. Are we not allowed opinions on MN any more???

Livelovebehappy · 01/06/2021 21:11

I’m no longer a follower of fashion, and just go with what I feel comfortable in. Which is a floaty frock and denim jacket. Not usually white trainers though, as I’m size 8 feet, so my feet look like flippers if I wear white footwear.

FurrySlipperBoots · 01/06/2021 21:16

I was half surprised massive hoop skirts popular in the 1860s didn't make a comeback last year! One way to guarantee social distancing!

I haven't seen any judgmental posts
FlakeorTwirl · 01/06/2021 21:50

Yeah trainers can get too warm. I prefer my Havianas - can go shopping for hours in those no problem.

itsnotmeitsu · 01/06/2021 21:57

@OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow '(Personally I’d look like a angry fat cloud).' > I'd aspire to look like this.

Seriously, as I moved from 49 to very early fifties everything seemed wrong to me. Now I just wear whatever I want. I'm of an age for a female that nobody cares, and that can actually be quite helpful style-wise.

They are VILE! Shock

As for the floaty white dress with a denim jacket, and white trainers. I LOVE that look. Smile

Struggling to remember the last time I was on MN and someone wasn't acting like a dick just because they're anonymous.
bubblesforlife · 01/06/2021 22:33

I love it! Trainers are so much more comfortable to wear than most other shoe types! Long may it stay!
