I see the uniform of floaty dress, white trainers and denim jacket has survived the pandemic

I would bet my house on heels coming back at some point

I would too but I don’t think it will be for a long time or that they’ll be ubiquitous.

justasking111 · 31/05/2021 22:57

There's a lady on Instagram who swears by this thigh rub cure.megababebeauty.com/products/thigh-chafe

justasking111 · 31/05/2021 22:58

Rats try again. megababebeauty.com/products/thigh-chafe

Sadly I don’t suit floaty things, anything with tiers or gathers
I also struggle with waist seams as they are rarely in right place
On a hot day I tend to wear either a t shirt dress or a loose linen shift style
I do have white trainers but also like flat sandals or pointed flats

JaceLancs · 31/05/2021 23:06

I have been browsing at M&S and found this: www.marksandspencer.com/pure-linen-v-neck-midi-shift-dress/p/clp60496179?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share
Bought one very similar to this today

Another judgey post. And from London, no less.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 01/06/2021 02:56

I love floaty dresses of all lengths, although I tend to wear lightweight shorts under the shorter ones now.
Will wear them with ankle boots, sandals or trainers.
But I've never seen the point of the denim jacket and have never bought one. I did inherit one from a friend at one point, when she got a new one, but that was in my 20s and I haven't worn it since my early 30s at best. Wouldn't even consider wearing one now.

Rina66 · 01/06/2021 04:44

Love those navy and grey M & S linen dresses JaceLancs, I have a lovely white linen jackety type shirt that would look great over them with white trainers.

sadperson16 · 01/06/2021 05:31

M and S looks like a contender but sold out.

The irony is strong with this one 🤣🤣🤣

Carole Kirkwood seems to be wearing this look on BBC Breakfast this morning, perhaps she's trolling this thread. 🤣

Can't believe there are still people who don't like trainers with dresses. They've been around since the eighties at least.

homemadefries · 01/06/2021 07:10

I'm bored with the ubiquitousness

Floisme · 01/06/2021 07:14

I get that. You can start off liking a look and end up bored senseless with it.

homemadefries · 01/06/2021 07:19

I'm also envious because I cannot ,for the life of me, find a denim jacket that suits me

Nancy75 if I left the house in a floaty midi I'd be mistaken for a potato in drag. Looks lovely on everyone else mind!

byvirtue · 01/06/2021 07:35

I also thought I couldn’t do denim jackets but ordered absolutely loads from ASOS one year and found a keeper.

Denim jackets are a mine field, colour, length, number of buttons etc. I always have my sleeves rolled up to 3/4 length, full length sleeves with a denim jacket look naff on me.

SoMuchForSummerLove · 01/06/2021 07:47

I had a lovely light one years ago that was cotton and had three quarter sleeves. It was perfect for summer. I mourn its passing!

MumofSpud · 01/06/2021 07:50

Yup - this is the first fashionable look I have embraced in years!
Whilst I was out the other day I bought myself a new pair of white trainers as well!

It is also a v practical look as I can hide my horny clawed hooves away!

I'm a size 12 but have 32E boobs, they just don't hang right!

I love a floaty midi dress - they can bury me in one - but trainers? Hot sweaty feet in some fugly clumpy trainers on a sunny day? Nah mate.

I agree - I live in NZ and while I think it looks lovely I can't stand the thought of wearing trainers, especially leather, in 30 degree heat. Sandals for me, or maybe canvas shoes if it's a bit cooler. Also, if your feet are on the large size white is not flattering.

Goodvibesfamily · 01/06/2021 08:10

@Serpenta

I think summer trends endure for longer because summer is such a short window that people think 'oh I only got a fortnight's wear out of this last year, I'm definitely wearing it again this summer'.

And getting a breeze up a maxi skirt is a delight.

Haha yes, got to get your money's worth.
SoMuchForSummerLove · 01/06/2021 08:13

White shoes are unflattering for large feet?

I've heard it all now. What is this world we live in where we're supposed to make even our feet look smaller?? Angry

BumbleFlump · 01/06/2021 08:23

Love denim jackets with dresses but not that keen on white trainers. Prefer matching superga...I do have a pair of white trainers but they’re filthy now!

TheMoth · 01/06/2021 08:31

In the 90s I used to wear slip dresses with Adidas trainers or combat boots. But I didn't have hips then.

I just can't get into the floaty dress thing at all. I don't like puffy sleeves or frills. Or looking like I'm wearing a sack.

Floisme · 01/06/2021 08:53

I don't like trainers either, I prefer leather plimsols.
