Any hairdressers? Orangy roots!

So I was quite blonde anyway but with dark stretched roots so thought I'd to blonde all over. I used high lift from Sally's and 9% but the roots are a tad orange! Any advice?? I've tried purple shampoo on dry hair. I was going to try 12% on the roots tomorrow if anyone can advise if this will help?

@roughrug so don't put the 12% on?

@roughrug I already had blonde hair just wanted to get rid of the roots

I know why this has happened but it's taken years of training so I'm not going to give my knowledge away

Charming. Why post then?

Op, google hot roots and how to get rid of them. I’d not advise dying your hair immediately again, maybe give it a few days. there are toners that can help. I’m not a hairdresser but hopefully someone will come along and help.

Earlybirdmissedtheworm · 15/05/2021 22:20

It's gone orange because it hasn't lifted enough.
I wouldn't put the higher volume on as you will damage your hair and you have lifted but just not enough.
I'd do it again with the 9% and just keep checking until it's the right colour.
Do you have a toner for after? You need it a pale yellow (inside of a banana) colour and can then tone.

Earlybirdmissedtheworm · 15/05/2021 22:21

@roughrug not giving away your secrets, honestly Hmm. Get over yourself.

Mammaaof · 15/05/2021 22:23

I was a bit confused by @roughrug I only wanted to touch up my roots 🙈 I was afraid to leave it on for too long 🙈 I love the colour of the rest of it it's just about an inch at the top x

@roughrug

Haha! It's not about getting over myself it's about people in general undervaluing hairdressers and thinking they can do it themselves. There's a reason we train for years.

And by the way... so far you are all wrong!

Oh seriously? If you don’t want to help her because of your valuable years of knowledge why keep posting?
Mammaaof · 15/05/2021 22:35

@roughrug in the nicest possible way go away. If your not here to give advice then why are you here? I do value my hairdresser but just wanted to touch up my roots. I went to the proper place for the stuff.

Bluntness100 · 15/05/2021 22:36

Op, ignore. There are plenty of hairdressers on here who will help you, if they don’t come on tonight, they will tomorrow, just keep bumping it.

@Bluntness100 thank you!! I googled "hot roots" and it did say to re lighten but I'll wait a few days! Surprisingly my hair feels softer than it did before I dyed it 😂 I did mix olaplex in with it so maybe that's helped x

In all honesty, I'd always use a professional - I'd never try to fix my own car, paint my own car, build my house or make my clothes ... same with my hair - it's 'me' so needs a professional polished look

Mammaaof · 15/05/2021 22:39

@roughrug my hair didn't have any colour on it. So clearly your years of knowledge hasn't stretched that far!

OP posts:
shouldistop · 15/05/2021 22:40

@roughrug are you drunk?

Op I think you need to lighten the roots again but with the 9% then use a good toner.

OhDear2200 · 15/05/2021 22:40

I come to S&B for a bit of light relief from the other sections or MN. Not tonight clearly!

Good luck OP!

wouldukissafrog · 15/05/2021 22:41

@roughrug we are in a pandemic, hairdressers have been closed for ages, people have lost their jobs and perhaps cannot afford the hairdressers like they used to for colours etc. For god sake just be a little kind you vile human

Notashandyta · 15/05/2021 22:41

@roughrug

How do we know you're even a hairdresser Wink

Mammaaof · 15/05/2021 22:41

@shouldistop 😂😂 I feel like she's taken offence because ive tried to touch up my roots. Yes that's what I've read so definitely going to try that in a few days thank you!

OP posts:
Mammaaof · 15/05/2021 22:44

@wouldukissafrog your right im a carer for my partner and I had my hair done when hairdressers opened it cost me £110 which was a lot for me, but I've used the money I would have used on a second hair appointment to take my 2 children on a little weekend break so didn't have enough for both so just wanted to touch up my roots so that they wouldn't be so harsh when I went away x

I think when we do our own hair the temptation is to wash it off too quickly.

I've had this happen quite a few times and I leave it a couple of days then repeat the same process and it's always worked for me.

I find the purple shampoos just accentuate the problem as it makes the truly blonde hair appear ashy making the Orange stand out worse.

jesusmaryjosephandtheweedonkey · 15/05/2021 22:46

For orange you want blue shampoo not purple.
Grab some from boots and apply it to your roots and leave on for 10 mins.
It will knock that right back .

wouldukissafrog · 15/05/2021 22:46

@Mammaaof it's a shame someone on here can't just be a bit kinder

I'm getting made redundant next week, I'll have to find a new way of colouring my hair/ hiding the roots myself very soon

Hope you have a lovely time away with the kids
