I used to love Aussie 3 minute miracle as a cheap fix but hadn’t used it for years. It used to be lovely and thick and my hair always felt a bit better after using it.
Bought a bottle last week - what have they done to it?! Horrible watery rubbish that did nothing for my hair.

Ghd curling wand - now I love a ghd product but this does nothing for me.

Rosehip oil - paid about £40 for a tiny bottle of this when it was all the rage a couple of years ago. Did absolutely nothing for me.

Rose hip oil makes me break out.
Irish Tweed Cologne - Creed, absolutely horrible cloying scent had to scrub the stuff off (thankfully only a sample).
Every fake tan I’ve tried (from st tropez to fake bake) leaves my calves all patchy orange with dark pits where my hair follicles are.

Moonwatcher1234 · 07/04/2021 17:25

One more...ren cleanser and moisturiser for sensitive skin. Truly yuck...made my skin feel like sandpaper and I had to rush back to Clinique anti redness moisturiser.

Billandben444 · 07/04/2021 17:54

The Trinny Miracle Blur is pants - does nothing except pill. Aldi Lacura range is good, the face cream with caviar is the bollox. Also, their diffusers and candles that mimic Jo Malone are lush - No 2 is the lime, mandarin and basil one.

CallMeCleo · 07/04/2021 18:12

I used Veet Hair Removal Cream for Sensitive Skin because I am fed up with having to shave the stray hairs growing on my chin and upper lip.

OMG. No stinging and no pain, but when I washed it off it left a ring of bright red spots around my mouth in the shape of a goatee beard.

Thank God for covid masks!

@ReluctantEarlyRiser Just butting in here... I have oily skin too and I also have The Ordinary Niacinimide and I think that maybe you might be using it wrong because of your "chalky face" comment? It's not been a massive game-changer for me but it has helped. I put about 4 drops on my fingers (morning and night) and just "press" it into my skin rather than rub (after cleansing). It sinks in very quickly and I only get a semblance of "chalkiness" if I rub. Someone from Feelunique told me to press it into the skin and it has improved my oiliness.

I'm with you that the majority of products for oiliness are crap, but I've recently found 2 that work (for me)! The NYX Professional Makeup Make Up Setting Spray Matte Finish and the Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless translucent powder. I apply the powder at the end of my makeup routine, then the spray after that and for the first time in my life I didn't need to top up on powder throughout the day! They're both really quite cheap so just thought I would let you know as oiliness is the bane of my life!

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 09/04/2021 11:26

@Blackbird1234 I have really oily skin so will try your tips too, that's really helpful!

ReluctantEarlyRiser · 09/04/2021 11:38

Wow they sound good @Blackbird1234. I'm usually shiny again with 30 mins of putting on makeup!

justanotherneighinparadise · 09/04/2021 12:05

Appreciate that tip about the setting spray too!

Blackbird1234 · 09/04/2021 12:55

@StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind @ReluctantEarlyRiser @justanotherneighinparadise They may not be perfect tips as I know it really depends on how oily you are, but they're doing the trick for me. Today I think I'm a little bit more oily than usual as I'll have to powder my face soon, but it's a million times better than my usual once every hour powdering, so I'm considering it a win! I also have had this product recommended by someone in Caroline Hirons skincare group on Facebook but I've yet to try it, so I can't vouch for it: www.cocooncenter.com/bioderma-sebium-pore-refiner-30-ml/3956.html
Good luck :D x

EllaPaella · 09/04/2021 13:30

Any product that claims to make your hair wavy and enhance curls. I've tried so many and they either do nothing at all or just make your hair feel sticky and full of product which gives me the itch.

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 09/04/2021 13:48

Thankyou @Blackbird1234, I don't know if you already do this but I also use blotting paper rather than too many top ups of powder as on top of oily skin I feel like more powder gets a bit cakey- so that's my tip in case anyone hasn't tried it! I will often add a bit more powder after using the blotting paper first.

Blackbird1234 · 09/04/2021 15:19

@StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind That's a great tip! I'll see if I can find some blotting papers when I next go out, thank you :)

HesSpartacus · 09/04/2021 17:01

DemobHappy - my skin completely ignores retinol. It does nothing for me, no matter how strong. I don't get any reaction - not even redness, which a lot of people report. May as well save my money!

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 09/04/2021 17:05

@Blackbird1234 these are the ones I've bought, they're really good value compared to the ones I've found in boots:

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 09/04/2021 20:13

The Essence Vault...NOTHING like the actual perfumes. A real waste of money.

NuFace Device. Useless (but LOVE my Foreo Bear, recommended on MN).

Most anti ageing creams which promise results in a fortnight and three months later... nothing of note 🙄

Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 09/04/2021 21:51

YY to the Essence Vault

Lampan · 09/04/2021 21:59

I agree with the many people saying The Ordinary. Utter shite. I bought 4 products recommended as one of the routines and can safely say they did absolutely NOTHING. So little that after a few weeks, I binned the lot. My skin looks far better even just with blue Nivea.

HeraInTheHereAndNow · 09/04/2021 23:13

@Lampan. I had some Lactic Acid stuff which I swear was just tap water. Also, The Ordinary Squaline Retinol stuff. Did nothing. Binned it.

@Wrongsideofhistorymyarse... I bought 2 Essence Vault perfumes and use one as air freshener. The other was supposed to be Tom Ford. It was foul. DH said “whatever it is you’re wearing, get rid of it” the second time I wore it. 😂

HermioneMakepeace · 10/04/2021 02:42

Regarding

BigBeachWales · 10/04/2021 08:56
@BatleyTownswomensGuild I was going to try out the Glossier. Is it really that rubbish?
I love it... soft and creamy and completely conceals without settling in lines.

NewPlantsNeeded · 10/04/2021 09:04

2 Clarins products, Double serum just did absolutely nothing at all, nothing total waste of money.

Also as others have said Beauty Flash Balm, supposed to brighten and tighten, it just felt like dry grease on my face and made my skin go red and I have not got sensitive skin at all.

Channel nail varnish, chops easy and the Dior Nail Glow made my nails look like I had some kind of nail disease!

Agree with Molton Brown bath/body been using it for years but now its just to thin and does not 'froth' up as it used to. Bought the Russian Leather fragrance for DH, makes me want to heave.

But I love, love, Nuxe oil (the original not the flower smelling one, that makes me smell like a new doll) ends of my hair, face and body, great for feet, as well as the shower gel and just bought some of the hand cream which after just a couple of uses I really like it.

Blackbird1234 · 10/04/2021 10:04

@StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind Ah wonderful, thank you!

HesSpartacus · 10/04/2021 12:16

Chanel nail polish is rubbish. Lovely colours but - the brush, for starters. Looks like they got a job lot from the Tippex factory. Dreadful shape. The actual polish has virtually no staying power.

LaBellina · 11/04/2021 06:02

Thanks @HesSpartacus you helped me save some money as I was about to go out and buy some Chanel nail polish to wear on my toe nails. Seeing your post now makes me think it’s a sign that I shouldn’t 😂.

If anyone knows a cheap dupe for Chanel Pirate or Rouge Noir nail polish, I’m all ears!
I was thinking to buy Mavala Bordeaux nail polish now but other suggestions are very welcome.

NewPlantsNeeded · 11/04/2021 07:26

LaBellina, as I said in my post also Chanel chips (not chops) easy, and I do a fair job. Have a look at Revlon nail varnishes, love the colours and last well, tend not to go 'glupy' if they are not used for a while not sure if there are similar colours to Chanel.

Find OPI disappointing as well
