What little things elevate your look??

Looking to steal some ideas!

Little things I notice that I think kick my outfit up a notch:

-rolling up cuffs or pulling sleeves up slightly
-the 'French tuck' thing where you partially tuck in your top
-leaving a little bit of ankle showing when wearing skinny/ slim jeans and boots

I do all of the above to avoid looking too flat/straight. It gives me a bit of an edge - or so I tell myself.

Orf1abc · 14/01/2021 17:51

Blusher. I always saw it as something that made people look overdone, but now I've found the right one for me it's a complete game changer. I use W7 Candy Floss, a dupe for Benefit Dandelion.

OhioOhioOhio · 14/01/2021 17:52

My hair up.

AnnaSW1 · 14/01/2021 17:55

I came on to say Beneift dandelion Smile

polkadotpjs · 14/01/2021 17:59

I need to do all of these but the French tuck is BAD on my pot belly!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 14/01/2021 18:03

Like Orf has said. I changed my blusher colour from a peachy shade, to a pinky more natural looking one. Looks much better on me. I got a cheap one to try it, so it wasn't in my bag of 'mistakes'. Looks fine though, IMHO.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 14/01/2021 18:04

Eyebrows ( mine are shabby they need enhancing)
Earrings

No to the French Tuck , it'd look like I'd been for a pee and didn't tuck myself in after !

ShrikeAttack · 14/01/2021 18:05

Belts! If something has belt-loops, wear a belt! It does pull an outfit together (literally).

HarrietPotterska · 14/01/2021 18:10

Make up. And a blazer

sarahc336 · 14/01/2021 18:10

I second a belt! Totally alters the look of jeans and a top in my opinion Smile

OhioOhioOhio · 14/01/2021 18:24

Oh. Buying really decent make up. I'm very slowly building up an Estee lauder collection.

RavingAnnie · 14/01/2021 18:24

Oh my god. My look is elevated by me actually being bothered to wash, put clothes on and wash my hair at the moment. Hopefully these tips are helpful to you. 😂

carlaCox · 14/01/2021 18:30

A fun nail colour to match the season / your outfit. I've got a silvery grey going on right now.

pensivepigeon · 14/01/2021 18:32

Red lipstick. I've various shades /tones and wear a lip balm under so it is still pretty sheer but does seem to make a big difference.

Spied · 14/01/2021 18:35

A pair of simple silver studs and a good quality scarf when out ( not the chiffon or silk variety- a proper chunky knit wool)

nuitdesetoiles · 14/01/2021 18:36

A strong lip, red, fushia, orange, whatever really makes a difference.
A colourful scarf
Statement earrings
Ditto statement necklace (but not both as that's a bit "much")

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 14/01/2021 18:36

I've rediscovered monochrome as a colour palette really makes me look pulled together especially for work, with maybe one item in bright red or blue. But mostly just black and white I want to be Moria Rose from Schitts Creek . And earrings that "go" but not match IYSWIM?

Osquito · 14/01/2021 18:37

A hint of jewellery - a few fine gold rings, or a nice gold chain, or simple gold hoops.

Good nails - natural or polished, but always shaped nicely and shiny

I roll my sleeves up too, just above the elbow is chefs kiss

doadeer · 14/01/2021 18:38

I know not for everyone but I've got really long auburn hair and I think it really improves my look to add a Fedora type hat and in summer a large floppy sun hat. I always get lots of compliments if I do this and a red lip. It's so thrown together but works.

geekaMaxima · 14/01/2021 18:39

I can never manage a french tuck and I don't have a pot belly - like @70isaLimitNotaTarget I look like I've just been to the loo. Where am I going wrong and what actually does a french tuck do?

MrsMoastyToasty · 14/01/2021 18:40

Well fitting bra and pants. Nobody wants a quadboob or VPL.
Not wearing clothes that are too tight. Ignore the number on the label and assess the fit with your eyes.
Wear shoes that fit and are comfortable. If you're uncomfortable in your shoes it shows in your face when you wince.

DarlingCoffee · 14/01/2021 20:16

Perfume, earrings and a good lipstick

I also need advice on the french tuck! I just look messy when I do it.

ShandlersWig · 14/01/2021 20:28

I do the samp OP but also wear my collars stood up a la an 80s sloane ranger.....

And slightly back comb my hair at the crown to make my hair look a bit 'naturally tousled'.

SoDiorDarling · 14/01/2021 21:08

A bold lip
Blazer
Hair neat and not thrown on top of my head
Head band/hat
