What little things elevate your look??

Looking to steal some ideas!

Little things I notice that I think kick my outfit up a notch:

-rolling up cuffs or pulling sleeves up slightly
-the 'French tuck' thing where you partially tuck in your top
-leaving a little bit of ankle showing when wearing skinny/ slim jeans and boots

Dior Nail Glow for glossy but natural nails
Keratin blow dry for super shiny hair which I then tousle slightly
Sleeves and jeans rolled
Collarbone showing
Groomed brows (but low key, nothing that looks drawn on)

Red lippie & a bit of blusher, always makes me look alive and like I've made an effort.

Earrings, even if just small studs

As all I seem to wear outside the house is jeans and a big coat, I make sure I wear a nice scarf to brighten it up a bit!

Washimal · 16/01/2021 13:59

Cream blusher instead of powder and a really good illuminating primer (I like the Estée Lauder one at the moment but I chop and change) for a natural looking, dewy glow.

Eyebrows, but not OTT.

Lash primer.

Decent, well fitting bra makes a big difference to your shape and how good your clothes look.

AreyouseriousClark · 16/01/2021 17:39

Tinted brows
gel nails (polish lasts 30 mins on me)
good coat/blazer
clean shoes
diamond stud earrings

HarrietPotterska · 16/01/2021 17:43

Can anyone recommend some small gold hoop earrings to to??

Prickylikeacactus · 16/01/2021 17:49

Good eyebrow maintenance
High collared dresses and shirts (love this look)
Good blow dry, I look prettier with my hair naturally curlier but look very casual as it’s quite messy

nevernotstruggling · 16/01/2021 17:57

Always wearing curated jewellery unless I'm at home.

What’s curated jewellery?

I like this account as she gives super simple tips to change up your normal clothes.

I thought French tuck was bordering on wanky, curated jewellery however is next level.

I love mine from Astley Clarke, they’re about 15mm.

Re curated jewellery, I would take that to mean specifically chosen pieces to go with an outfit rather than the same things chucked on every day (which I’m very guilty of).

RuggeryBuggery · 16/01/2021 18:14

Oh! I thought ‘curated’ was a brand of jewellery I hadn’t heard of 😂😂😂

nevernotstruggling · 16/01/2021 18:23

Curated jewellery - as in co ordinating pieces or a set. Items which work with the outfit.

I'm happy being a wanker. I also French tuck.

nevernotstruggling · 16/01/2021 18:25

So much sniping on this thread. It's not aibu ffs.

AllTheChocolateNow · 16/01/2021 18:31

I can’t believe how many people wear red lipstick. I feel like a clown with it on, even for a night ‘out out’.

I feel polished with good boots, a well tailored coat and my nails done.

Divebar · 16/01/2021 18:53

Well it depends what you mean by elevated... one of the most polished woman I ever saw was wearing a navy tracksuit ( or sweater and casual trousers) with white trainers and an expensive large structured bag. Hair was beautifully blow dried. Make up was discrete. She was TOTALLY not my style but everything looked expensive. The fabric hung beautifully - she looked like she’d stepped out of a White Company catalogue. Overall if you invest in clothes that are nice quality - cashmere for example and make sure the fit is good. Less fast fashion and more investment buys with clothes altered to fit properly. Then take care of clothes properly - clothes ironed, shoes resoled, jumpers de-bobbled Etc. A good overcoat is a great investment and elevates a casual look.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/01/2021 20:55

Blush I thought 'curated' was lots of earrings (like a double or triple piercing ) in a row . I am obvs not S&B material.

I cannot wear a red lipstick, I look like a Drag Queen

Gold hoops - I bought some for my DD from Metalmorphosis ( in the basement of TopShop Oxford Street but there is another in London) .
Titanium plated with gold .

RosesAndHellebores · 16/01/2021 21:06

Bugger the rubies and emeralds. 0.33ct diamond in each ear and a ferragamo or gucci pump. The right foundation, beautifully coloured hair (at least three colours/tones), a good lippy.

It doesn't matter how old you are or how expensive the shoes, but a perfectly straight well formed and pedicures foot, preferably sans gel nails in lurid colours

FourTurnings · 16/01/2021 21:15

I like your style Roses 😀

Beachlovingirl · 16/01/2021 21:24

A red lip for zoom and also my gold bee necklace and my Alex monroe dragonfly earrrings. When I wear them I think I am dr foster and I am taking no shit!

Clicketyclick21 · 16/01/2021 23:15

Stilla liquid lipstick in Beso or Fiery

nevernotstruggling · 18/01/2021 19:47

I agree with @RosesAndHellebores about the diamond studs I wore mine every day for years. They are having a brief rest. Nothing else I had was going to look as good was it!

RosesAndHellebores · 18/01/2021 20:05

Half the retail price if you buy at auction.

Darklane · 18/01/2021 20:14

I thought curated jewellery was stuff that was sold at auction from someone who’d died.
French tuck just looks scruffy, can’t be bothered, or too much of a muffin too to be able to fit it all inside.

I got mine from otiumberg.com (but they are chunky)
