Princessing goals for 2021?

FuckOffDailyFailure · 27/12/2020 11:31

What is everyone working on for 2021? Obviously, events might not be happening, so I don't have anything to aim for.

However, I'm planning a self-care / hygge style makeover for myself.

I want to:

  • Eat healthily and maybe shed a few lbs!
  • Drink more water and less Wine
  • Tone up my arms, so I can wear tshirts and sleeveless dresses in the summer
  • clear out my wardrobe and pack things into storage. Things I am unlikely to need, like my work suit Xmas Sad and going out things
  • more reading / studying (I am a pt student) and less screen time! Need to go to all my online tutorials next term Xmas Blush. Keep forgetting as they always happen at kids' bedtime

Ah sorry to hear you've been poorly Lemon! Hope you're better soon Flowers.

All going to plan here, although I have to say that my goals probably aren't all that ambitious, so not sure how much of an achievement it is Grin.

My wardrobe sort out project continues. I feel as if, once that's all sorted, everything else will fall into place. I suppose it is a bit like Kondo-lite! I've put so much stuff away which I just wasn't wearing. My wardrobe looks so nice and empty! It is still ongoing though and I do need to buy a few more bits which I actually will wear, having made the mistake of buying things which don't really suit my SAHM lifestyle. Kidding myself that I'm still working in the city! No, dear, you are not; you do not need that shift dress and heels.

How is everyone else?

I’m starting the diet and healthy eating today. I’m not going to go crazy as I’m breastfeeding but going to try to make healthy choices rather than reaching for chocolate and biscuits, wish me luck Grin
Hope everyone else is doing ok?

ReallySpicyCurry · 05/01/2021 07:48

Sorry you're not well, Lemon. Also sorry to tell you that it may indeed be the chocolate. I have been hearing for ages about how chocolate no longer tastes the same, but hadn't really experienced it myself until this Christmas. I don't know if it's because the stuff they have out for Christmas is made even more cheaply, but for the first time in my life, I found perfectly ordinary chocolate inedible, absolutely inedible. Like eating tasteless, greasy cardboard. Didn't even enjoy a selection box. Wispas are the worst. It makes me very sad too, as I have always taken great pride in crowing over US friends re chocolate quality.

Doing well here. Bed at 10.30- shocking. No sugar in coffee, keeping up with drinking water, getting outside for plenty of fresh air.

I also gave myself a lockdown trim - I never go to hairdressers for anything more than a trim, but before the first lockdown, I decided to treat myself to a proper style and dye job, and my hair ended up massacred. I then tried to strip it out mid lockdown, and ended up damaging my hair so badly, it just splits and snaps if you look at it. So I'm not touching it, but I'm taking biotin, and every few weeks I'm giving myself a trim with sharp scissors. I know you're not meant to, but obviously I can't get to the hairdresser, haven't been able to get for months, and if I leave it, it'll just split right up

Tehmina23 · 05/01/2021 11:40

@LemonSquirtInTheEyeOfLife I have had an upset stomach after eating a lot of chocolate recently whereas I used to be able to eat a whole box & feel fine!!
Maybe it's the Palm Oil in most of it now.
Hope you feel better.

I've been trying to stick to my calories but it's been difficult as work yesterday was stressful especially with Covid patients.
Basically I go from really busy at work with lots of people there to just me at home feeling depressed & lonely.
So in both situations I overeat.

Going to try to start afresh today - stick to 1500 calories, do my exercise, & get changed into pjs before bed (I slept in my clothes last night).

LBB2020 · 05/01/2021 13:08

I didn’t do very well yesterday with healthy eating Blush starting again today! I managed a short walk round the block with my toddler this morning which is better than nothing I suppose! I also signed up to MUTU system to try to sort out my tummy muscles (separated during pregnancy), it’s only 12 minutes per day so I’m going to start that once the baby has finished feeding and settled for a nap (toddler was worn out after our walk and went straight to bed for a nap after lunch!). I’m also charging my kindle so I can start reading more rather than aimlessly scrolling through my phone!

FuckOffDailyFailure · 05/01/2021 13:09

God, YES, chocolate is disgusting these days! I bought two tubs of Rose's (thinking we were going to have guests over Christmas ha! ). We ended up just the four of us for christmas and ate one of the tubs ourselves. Grim. Disgusting. Never again. Sticking to naice chocolate from now on should probably steer clear altogether, but I'm so greedy.

Anyway, dry jan is going to plan, (I'm a poet...I know it, to quote Bob Dylan). But diet has not been good today Blush. I'm blaming lockdown news. I'm getting lots of sleep though and trying to walk a lot. Obviously no booze.

@Tehmina23, God I know someone who was working in a covid ward recently. Just for a few days to help out, as he is a doctor elsewhere, but they needed extra help. He said it was just so stressful. Flowers to you. Not that it means much, probably!

Feeling much better today thanks, I slept well last night for the first time in a week - I have about a week each month when I sleep dreadfully & it seems to have ended, thank goodness. Obviously hormonal, it only started a couple of years ago. Suspect I'm pre/perimenopausal. Joy... Hmm

Have managed to get out for a walk today (only to the supermarket, but it's something, over 3 miles round trip, & shopping to carry back up a hill). Not eaten yet but we're having roast chicken, wedges & salad. Smells lovely. Grin

@ReallySpicyCurry - do you blowdry /heat treat your hair, is it very long, or quite dry? Just wondering why the splits. I used to have extremely long hair (past my bum) but did regular moisturiser treatments & didn't get too many splits. I also didn't really use a dryer or heat on it very often. My DD also had very long hair until recently & it was also in great condition, virtually zero splits, I only ever blow dried it 2 or 3 times & she only had 2 trims before the age of 7.

@Tehmina23 - I quite often go up when DD goes to bed, get changed, wash my face, do any skincare bits that need to "sink in" or have time to settle, then come back down. I found if I don't, I often CBA to do it all, or wake up too much & am then wakeful in bed. I just do eye gel (I have dry eyes because my eyes don't close properly at night) & teeth just before bed. And I wear a silk eye mask most nights, to help my eyes stay closed. It helps, slightly. The temptation is strong to neglect a proper bedtime routine. Sleep is important. I'm sure there's a reason why so many people purposefully stay up when they're exhausted these days. Lack of quiet time or something. It's counterproductive though. I'm guilty of it too.

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 07/01/2021 21:00

Flowers to those that need them. How is it 7th already?!

FuckOffDailyFailure · 07/01/2021 21:34

Evening!

How is project princess going?

I have been on a veritable rampage against my wardrobe, getting rid of things* I don't wear at the moment. Finding gaps and trying to fill them with quality pieces in decent fabrics. Not mega bucks being spent here (I wish), but not tat either.

Dry January is going fine too, although I'm sure the novelty will wear off soon!

I did a virtual yoga class this morning, so am feeling quite virtuous really. The less said about diet the better....but it could be worse.

How is everyone else doing?

OP posts:
Carriemac · 08/01/2021 07:17

I've been doing some prepping for starting whole30 next week, and have purchased some new skincare.

FuckOffDailyFailure · 08/01/2021 11:15

Good luck with whole30 Carrie!

Need to do some weights today. Determined to have nice arms for summer! Don't care if they're muscular.

Dry January is going fine. Not sure I've noticed any major changes to how I look or feel, but maybe I'm less tired and have been eating a bit more healthily without really trying, so maybe.

Aveda Blue Malva conditioner treatment on my hair , wrapped in a turbie-rwist . Not going out today so I might waft about with this lovely head wear all day .

Need to wax my 'pits and epilate my legs .

I don't drink alcohol so every month is Dry Month for me Grin

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 09/01/2021 10:35

Mine:

  1. Up my exercise, I re joined my gym but that closed. So running, walking and basically getting heart rate up. I have weights at home too.
  2. The second lockdown ends I'm booking some cool sculpting to tone my shape and get rid of stubborn bits of fat.
3.Carry on with derma rolling my hair to make it thicker/longer/stronger 4.Use my lyma laser more for my face
  1. Positive self affirmations- the most important part! do this daily
Tehmina23 · 09/01/2021 11:35

I found yesterday difficult for my diet as work was awful very busy & short staffed.
So when I got home I had a binge unfortunately.
Back on to 1500 calories today.

LBB2020 · 09/01/2021 12:41

I’ve managed to get out for a decent walk the past 4 days and keep to eating reasonably healthy. Weighed myself yesterday and had lost a lb so pleased with that! I bought a box hair dye as my roots are terrible, planning to do that over the weekend (haven’t been to the hairdresser since before DC2 was born in September!). Will try to do a face mask and tackle my feet this evening too!

Minkyscamp · 09/01/2021 13:42

Mine:

Sort out a skincare routine that works and I can stick to

Drink less wine

Cull my wardrobe. I love the idea of a more capsule approach - but the reality is that I'm not sure it really works for me and the kind of clothes I like. I need to at least get rid of the stuff i don't wear though, so will start there

Eesha · 09/01/2021 23:32

I realised today I haven't looked in the mirror for a week! Cant sleep well, mainly due to current climate, my feet are all cracked and my roots are showing (hairdresser actually has covid)....plus McDonald's were doing free delivery so was an easy lunch for me and the kids! I've made such a mess and really need to get back to princessing.

MsMeNz · 10/01/2021 21:29

I'm v late to the party!
For me..

  1. continue loosing weight. I'm 84 kg and want to losse 10 more (lost 8 already) doing my fitness Pal tracking combined with intermittent fasting.
  2. I've got in habit of taking some bits daily now want to add fish oil to mix as I don't get enough good fats in my diet.
  3. from only walking to exercise I'm going to start adding in 10-15 min bursts on cross trainer and a few times a week do at home dumbbell workouts.
  4. when it's allowed again get my baby Botox redone. (Well full between brows for 11s and baby for forehead)
  5. get my eyebrows re touched up tattoo wise. (It's been a few years!)
  6. start using my Philips IPL thing again as hairs are sprouting back time lol
  7. make a little more effort in day on face even though I'm at home all day everyday. Even just mascara or a tad of bronzer on cheeks.
  8. have a couple of formal dress days a week where wear a dress again even though just at home.
hippospot · 11/01/2021 09:31

I'm reasonably active and eat quite well and don't have weight to lose but there is always room for improvement:

  • remember to eat mackerel or sardines twice a week
  • do more dumbbell workouts - I quite like Rebecca Louise 15 min ones but should probably increase weights slightly and do more often
  • get my heart rate up more often. I'm a big walker but cannot run and so with pools closed cycling is my only option really and it's been icy outside
  • I've ordered some new skincare to try

I started taking a hair/skin/nails supplement two months ago and I am sure my hair and nails are growing stronger and faster.

I've more or less given up alcohol because it just makes me sleep SO badly.

I'm sticking to one green tea and one coffee a day for the same reason.

I've ordered some plain tshirts online from Rapanui which I hope will be good quality and long enough. I needed to replace some very tired looking ones. I've also culled things I no longer wear.

Nice thread!

LemonSquirtInTheEyeOfLife · 16/01/2021 17:16

Have felt rather crap & extremely tired for several days, maybe a bug. Feel much much better today, done some exercise & have started lower carbing on set days each week. Not every day though - I think the idea is to reduce overall calories, reduce risk of bingeing or overeating due to slipping up etc. I'm going to have a "normal" day twice a week. And I'm not counting my carbs, but just sticking to generally lower carb foods on the low carb days, & small portions of healthy carbs & only planned treats on my "normal" days. If I plan for treats hopefully I won't crave crap. Thankfully I really like vegetables. I've got some electrolytes for the low carb days, from when I tried doing the full keto diet. I failed at proper low carbing due to migraines - they got much worse after several days - but maybe I can do this.

LBB2020 · 16/01/2021 18:06

Glad you’re feeling better @LemonSquirtInTheEyeOfLife. I managed to lose another lb this week so that’s 2lbs since the start of the month, happy with that!
I dyed my hair last weekend and dug out my electric foot file. I am going to try and do a face mask tonight and get an early night (DS2 decided he didn’t need to sleep until 1am last night Hmm). Hope everyone is doing ok x

LemonSquirtInTheEyeOfLife · 17/01/2021 12:26

Thanks @LBB2020... my thighs aren't happy this morning though! They're complaining after yesterday's surprise exercise. Grin I'm going out for a walk in a while so hopefully that will help.

Electric foot files scare me!

LBB2020 · 17/01/2021 12:35

We’ve just been out for an almost 2 hour walk, hope you enjoy your walk!
My foot file is years old and needs a new head but Boots seem to have disconnected it now (it was a Boots own brand one) so I can’t replace it which is annoying! I bought some flexitol foot balm then reading the box it says not to use if breastfeeding?!

Carriemac · 18/01/2021 10:45

I'm on day 5 of whole30 and it is killing me- I miss my breakfast porridge and my wine! The rules say no weigh in for 30 days which will be tricky .
Need to do an eyelash and brow tint - any tips?

PumpkinWitch · 18/01/2021 11:17

Can I join? I have been doing yoga with Adriene and I am trying to create a capsule wardrobe.

I want to sort out my hair as I am looking worse for wear after not being able to go to the hairdresser. I have quite thin hair that gets very messy and lots of split hairs. I want to do something to improve it. Does anyone have any suggestions.

I would like to lose a tiny bit of weight and want to eat a bit better.
