Princessing goals for 2021?

FuckOffDailyFailure · 27/12/2020 11:31

What is everyone working on for 2021? Obviously, events might not be happening, so I don't have anything to aim for.

However, I'm planning a self-care / hygge style makeover for myself.

I want to:

  • Eat healthily and maybe shed a few lbs!
  • Drink more water and less Wine
  • Tone up my arms, so I can wear tshirts and sleeveless dresses in the summer
  • clear out my wardrobe and pack things into storage. Things I am unlikely to need, like my work suit Xmas Sad and going out things
  • more reading / studying (I am a pt student) and less screen time! Need to go to all my online tutorials next term Xmas Blush. Keep forgetting as they always happen at kids' bedtime

I’ve got a lot of clothes that don’t quite fit me at the moment, my style has changed and pre-covid my work dress had got more casual... once I’ve shed some weight I can sort through it once and for all and find a newer style and a capsule wardrobe.

chipsandpeas · 27/12/2020 13:59

i want to lose 2 stone by june - doesnt sound too hard but im a fat lazy bitch who loves eating junk food and hates exercise - oh and i have a underactive thyroid that makes trying to lose weight more difficult but this works out at roughly 1lb per week which by cutting out some of the crap and also drink its doable

also want to sort my skin out a bit its not too bad but could be better need to moisturise more and use the skincare stuff i have more often

chipsandpeas · 27/12/2020 14:02

im going to start doing zumba at home again, downloaded a lot of classes from youtube but find i cba doing them but going to make a effort
need to use my IPL more often as well like everything else i start it then get distracted and forget for a few weeks

diet wise i was losing weight in the run up to xmas but doing my main meal at lunchtime then toast or eggs at night, so going to start that agin in Jan but in the next week im trying not to overeat and come NYE i will take a lot of the rubbish left over snacks down to my mums so i wont be tempted

Cookie79 · 27/12/2020 14:31

Long time princessing thread lurker here....

I need to lose 10lb and get down to 9 stone again - am short so extra pounds really do show. I want to improve my skin too as I’ve been seriously considering Botox/fillers - hoping a few months of care and lots of fruit, veg, water etc will make me look less tired. I have lots of things from the H&B beauty advent calendar to start me off.

I had such health and beauty plans for 2020 but then it all fell apart with Covid, lockdown, work (am LA staff so was redeployed to support Covid stuff, absorbing a disestablished role, as well as keeping actual job going), DD in and out of school, busy DH (railway so key worker too). I just ended up flaking on sofa with a glass of wine at night for most of 2020.

2021 - kicking off with dry January and dragging my carcass off the sofa for a lot more exercise. I have a cross trainer in one of the bedrooms - no excuses!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/12/2020 14:37

Excellent , I was hoping there would be a Princessing Thread Grin

My lists are :

Firstly - have a talk with myself and face the fact that the weight is not going to shift itself .
I am menopausal , I have a health condition and I had emergency surgery a year ago ..but I need to stop hanging my excuses on those pegs . Otherwise next year I'll be the same but older and eavier .

There's no point me thinking "Oh I'll wear make-up , I'll do my nails"
I don't wear it and my nails have to be shrt and naked for work.
But my skin is good (genetics not effort) . I don't smoke or drink and I use a very non complex skincare routine

My hair is growing the grey nicely , I bought myself some Aveda Blue Malva to brighten the silver .
I have realised I won't have long hair again because my scalp cannot take it . So shoulder length and try something more exciting than a ponytail.

I've stopped impulse buys . I never buy with the intention to send it all back. So if I buy something now it is here to stay (unless it doesn't fit )
Usually I see something and wait 24 hours .
(Unless it's HomeSense homeware - you don't wait 24 hours for that )

And in the words of my Gran ( dearly departed) don't wear anything that I would be ashamed if I ended up in A&E wearing !

CleanQueen123 · 27/12/2020 14:53

Yes please to joining in! I need some peer pressure to keep me on the straight and narrow Grin

I've lost a bit of weight this year through intermittent fasting and starting riding again.

So the plan for 2021 is:

Lose a bit more weight
Get fitter e.g get off my arse in the evenings and do some yoga and weights
Get my water intake back on track and ditch the tea and coffee
Go through my clothes and have another clear out. I need to finally accept that some things need to go

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/12/2020 15:02

@hangryeyes I did mine in July and I will honestly say it was life changing! I did from July 20th til dec 24th with not a single grain of sugar, no dairy, no grains/flour and I was feeling amazing until Covid got me in November. I've stuck with it since then but lost that amazing glowing feeling and so I'm going to go absolutely back to basics again. Over Christmas I've had a few chocs and a few pastry type things (sausage rolls) but no other non w30 stuff and yet today I feel crap and my skin looks horrific with spots brewing all over. I'd recommend it to anyone really who wants that 'overhaul' feeling without it being about calories/losing weight.

I went to tkmaxx with dd this morning and bought some collagen face serum and some posh shampoo and conditioner. I also bought some jeans but they don't fit so will have to take them back one day this week which is annoying.

ilikebooksandplants · 27/12/2020 16:22

I would like to join this too please! I just posted about small self care things as I feel in a big slump. I’m starting a new job in the first week of january so it feels like a nice time to set some goals and have a proper fresh start!

My goals:

Wear a small amount of nice make up every day because I just look so much fresher and nicer. I really enjoy make up so I should do a little bit each day.

Religious use of moisturiser. I feel like a dehydrated husk.

Again, upping the amount of water I drink - a hydration theme!

Exercise. Annoyingly I started spin classes which I really enjoyed in February then all the gyms shut. We are in tier four so my exercise for now will have to be outside, maybe couch to five k and then some strength stuff via zoom or YouTube.

Any other ideas? Just want to make myself feel happy and give myself a bit of TLC after a tough year.

Iris5543 · 27/12/2020 17:06

I need to go back to real clothes. I’ve been a slob for a year.
There’s no hope of achieving anything else, until I crack this.

2021optimist · 27/12/2020 18:57

Great thread!

I want to:
Lose the last 2 stone
Do my 10k steps a day
Get on the Peloton 5 times a week
Keep up my new skincare regime
Keep going with curly girl hair system (I'm wavy, not curly but love the reduced frizz and healthier hair that it gives).
Wear jewellery more (sentimental stuff).

naemates · 27/12/2020 22:21

I'm hoping I do better this year, I've honed my princessing list from years of failure Grin

Roughly into headings of exercise, food, health and beauty:

10K steps (helped with 5k walk in lunch hour)
Warm up/stretch first thing in morning

2l water a day
Meal plan/calorie count (number tbcBlush)
5 A Day (helped by having vegetarian lunch)
Do 16:8
Oily fish once a week

Take vitamins & Yakult daily
Floss everyday
Dry brush before shower
Set bedtime alarms and obey!

Exfoliate and moisture in shower
Wash face ASAP after work - cleanse, tone, moisturise
Epilate face weekly
Do nails and toenails weekly (Sally Hanson strengthener)

naemates · 27/12/2020 22:23

Oh I missed C25k! 3x a week - if I don't forget!

LaBellina · 27/12/2020 22:52

Capsule wardrobe so far:
Camel coat plus beautiful cashmere scarf
Elegant leather handbag in a beautiful red shade and a black cross body bag
Several black jeans
Dark blue and a black cardigan
Elegant black and white tweed jacket
Little black dress

I know I 'should' get a white blouse too but I don't like them and actually never wear them.

ReallySpicyCurry · 27/12/2020 22:55
  • Lose the last 10lbs to hit goal weight (lost 33lbs since summer)
  • Sort out my hair (how, I don't know)
  • Keep up running, vitamins.
  • Continue with the wardrobe and makeup overhaul - I've dressed like a skint student all my life up until recently, trying to look a little more put together, without being frumpy and overdone.
  • Get out of my overdraft (whilst overhauling wardrobe HA)
  • I turn 30 in 2021, I have a teenager and a toddler and am not planning on any more, all I have done since I was a teenager myself is run myself ragged trying to create a good life/security/hold things together. I have ticked off quite a few goals this last few years - bought a house, more job stability - and I'm absolutely determined that my 30s are going to be the best decade yet. Someone once told me years ago that a woman is only just hitting her prime in her 30s. I'm going to hit them with a bang and be exactly the sort of woman I want to be (though I'm not quite sure who she is yet, but she looks lovely and wears fabulous perfume)
CleanQueen123 · 28/12/2020 10:11

@ReallySpicyCurry I feel the same as you. I'm 30 next year. DD will be going to school in the September and I don't want to be the mum stood at the gates that always looks a mess, like I am at nursery right now.

I've been reflecting on my 20s and realised a lot of it has been horrendous for one reason or another. I feel like I'm only just finding "me" and my style.

My 30s are going to be mine!

JontyDoggle37 · 28/12/2020 10:17

I’m in.
I’ve lost 3/4 of a stone since 1 November, still have two more to go, also, I’m building a better habit on evening makeup removal, instead of just going to bed in it.
I’m also running 4 days a week and doing weights 2-3 days.
Nails will be ok once the beauticians opens again, as I get gel polish done every 3-4 weeks.

Carriemac · 28/12/2020 10:24

I’m in ! Arm toning, weight loss, skincare routine all badly needed .
Will start gently with water intake and upping steps then whole30 sounds like an excellent January kickstart

Cam2020 · 28/12/2020 10:31

I really need to look after my health and well being. I'm currently WFH full time, full time carer for my DP and have a toddler. Self care went out the window this year and it's made me stressed, tired and unhealthy. My plan is:

  • Eat healthily *more water, less ☕
  • Get walking and start doing yoga again at home *find time for some mindfulness again *get back to a proper skin care routine *smarten up my home wardrobe - my lovely work wardrobe isn't getting any wear.

My ultimate aim is to get to a size 6 (ha!) I'm a 12 atm so that's totally going to happen! Hmm

I'd like to continue in my efforts to conquer binge eating. I've dramatically reduced the regularity of binging during 2020 so hoping for more progress.

I've upped my makeup and skincare regime in 2020 so I'm going to continue with that and maybe add a few new products.

PusheenLove · 28/12/2020 10:50

@FuckOffDailyFailure and @Turquoisa80 Out of interest, what motivates you to do yoga?

FuckOffDailyFailure · 28/12/2020 10:51

And thanks @LaBellina for the capsule info! Is that all you have in your wardrobe? Do you keep other things somewhere else or do you sell everything on? Sorry for all the questions! I'm in awe of your minimalism.

Drogonssmile · 28/12/2020 11:07

I'd love to join in, I turn 40 in November and have decided I need to get my shit together by then. Need to lose 1.5-2 stone, start regularly exercising again and have a skincare routine that I stick to amongst other things.

FuckOffDailyFailure · 28/12/2020 11:36

@FuckOffDailyFailure

Googling whole30...
Oh lord, that's a bit strong isn't it? No wine, no sugar, no grains, no dairy, no pulses? It would probably do me good tbf.

Anyone interested in starting up yoga, if you google Adriene mishler she does a 30 days programme which is great for getting started. It's starting 2nd jan. There is something really amazing about daily (or at least regular) practice. For me, somewhere along the line it stops being about 'must do my yoga today chore' and suddenly it becomes like (and I know I sound cheesy AF, I do apologise) a surprise gift from a friend: you turn up on the mat, open the gift, and it turns out to be exactly what you didn't know you needed. I think for busy people mums who never give themselves time to just be, daily yoga is 30 minutes a day of pure calm, it's such a luxury. You don't have to be fit, or bendy, or flexible. You just have to allow yourself the time.
