AARRGHH! Discontinued favourites 😡

I’m SO annoyed! Just went to the Lish website to reorder my Queen Bee hair stuff and found it’s gone. Replaced by a cream which just won’t be right for me - it’s the addition of beeswax that stops my hair from fluffing up and releasing all moisture.

So I have two questions. What favourites of yours have been discontinued and what did you replace it with? And can you recommend anything to replace Queen Bee? 😭 I guess technically that’s three questions but still....

I am also annoyed that I bought a lipstick from Mac (it was a limited edition to be fair) which was discontinued with no equivalent replacement. It was perfect.

Also Neutrogena Visibly Refined Mousturiser spf15. Had retinol and aha's in it I think. Skin was perfect with that.

Mine is really prosaic, but Blistex in the metal tube - kept my lips soft and not cracked all through the coldest winters. I can't find anything quite as good.

Try O'Keefes lip balm. I've never found one that works as well as that. It heals overnight and is a lovely texture. Around 3 quid in Sainsburys!

The other product I couldn't believe was discontinued was Nice n Easy non permanent hair dye. Really cheap, effective and long lasting. I allergic to dye and this was the only product I could use aside from henna. I emailed them as I was so cross and they said it was a popular product but discontinued as a "marketing decision" . So very many people have allergies to dye that it seemed bloody stupid to me. I've never found anything else.

Body shop did a fab dry oil spray in a glass Bottle. I bought 4 from the discontinued bucket for £1 each in 2000 and they smelt sooo lovely. I’d love to know what the smell was.

I miss Eau de Gucci too. Recently has a sample of Gucci Bloom Profumo do Fiori and it’s pretty close. Not an exact match but close enough to bring back happy olfactory memories.

Wow this has been a trip down memory lane - Secret deodorant - it was so American.
I also loved Brighten Up Tighten Up eye cream - anyone know of an equivalent?
I may be the only one not to love Envy - I always found it too harshly acidic - I wore it in my 20s for one summer.
I really miss Tiffany perfume from the 90s - I had it in an eau fraiche cooling spray and it was glorious. When they released it last year, I got all excited but nothing like the original Tiffany.
I mourn 2 Clinique lipsticks - Baby Kiss which was my perfect MLBB and Ruby Glass - the perfect high sheen soft warm red. I wore it on my wedding day- it was just the best lipstick ever to light up my face but not be in your face iyswim.

Prescriptive Super Flight cream - omg, that cream was the most incredible immediate fine line eraser ever! 😞
Still concealer in a stick - I used to have horrendous acne and this covered like nothing else - at one point I had 22 of them stockpiled when I knew Stila was being discontinued

Clinique had a goregous shimmer brick years and there's never been anything like it since.

Oh god, the Clinique shimmer brick. - was it in the shape of a flower? I had one - think it was called Almond Blossom - and it was gorgeous. Kind of a hybrid blush/bronzer/highlighter.

@AmethystMoonShine Superdrug online has it and I bought one in store recently. Stella Peony was brought out again recently in a coral bottle but discontinued again I think. Palmers shimmer body lotion for me.

Agree with Gucci Envy. Have NO IDEA why they discontinued it because there was such a backlash. Bobbi Brown BB Cream Spf35. This was wonderful stuff. Quick and easy to use. And whatever you put on top, it stayed there all day. Miss Dior (the original - Houndstooth design bottle) in Eau de Parfum. Wonderful stuff.

A few others... I might come back.

You can still get Miss Dior (not the beribboned imposters) It's been reformulated to keep in with regulations but is still unmistakably wonderful. You need "Miss Dior originals" and when the Dior consultant gets out 20 beribboned floozies to try and hoodwink you you need to stand your ground. At an airport the Dior assistant didn't even know it existed, but it does.

You can still get Flex in places like Savers and Home Bargains.
I bought Prada Infusions d'Iris EdT for DD last Christmas, so it was still available then. It might have been discontinued since.

Benefit are the absolute worst at discontinuing their best products! I loved Oh La Lift and it's gone .. only thing which made me look semi normal again during long work days .. can't find anything as good

@JMAngel1 you can get Stila on Beauty Bay. No concealer stick but they have one in a tube with a doe foot applicator called Pixel Perfect.

They still make Blistex in the metal tube. I buy it all the time from waitrose. I bought a tube last month. Has it been discontinued recently? SAY IT ISN’T SO?!

Going further back, yes I loved Flex and Vidal Sassoon products in the brown bottles that smelled of almonds. My hair has never been as fantastic as it was when I used them - sigh!

They sell Stila in most poundshops and on most of the online beauty and makeup sites. I subscribe to Look Fantastic beauty box and am always getting Stila products.

The Vidal Sassoon was my first grown up shampoo. My Mum used to treat me at Christmas (think would have been late 70s) and would also buy me Mary Quant makeup.

I love the original Tom Ford Gucci Eau De Parfum in the massively heavy glass bottle. It is gorgeous but obviously long discontinued. You can get a bottle at inflated prices in the ‘net but I’ve no idea how genuine they are or how well kept they’ve been. I have a very precious bottle that only gets brought out for special occasions or when I need a real pick me up. It smells like nothing else.

Anyone in the beauty trade on here ?
If so do you know why popular products are discontinued and why popular products have their formulations changed ?

I presume best sellers aren't dumped - that would be commercial suicide.
But why reformulations ?

If it ain't broke why fix it ?
