AARRGHH! Discontinued favourites 😡

I’m SO annoyed! Just went to the Lish website to reorder my Queen Bee hair stuff and found it’s gone. Replaced by a cream which just won’t be right for me - it’s the addition of beeswax that stops my hair from fluffing up and releasing all moisture.

So I have two questions. What favourites of yours have been discontinued and what did you replace it with? And can you recommend anything to replace Queen Bee? 😭 I guess technically that’s three questions but still....

I am also annoyed that I bought a lipstick from Mac (it was a limited edition to be fair) which was discontinued with no equivalent replacement. It was perfect.

2 MAC lipsticks I've never been able to find a decent dupe of - honeyflower which has been discontinued and Toledo collection in shade oxblood which was limited edition and my son ruined it by drawing all over the walls with it when he was 2! I was gutted.

Ponks · 10/12/2020 21:57

The Vidal Sassoon shampoo and conditioner smelt amazing, I can't remember if they were any good but I loved the smell.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 10/12/2020 22:09

Mine is really prosaic, but Blistex in the metal tube - kept my lips soft and not cracked all through the coldest winters. I can't find anything quite as good.

beargryllshasabigrope · 10/12/2020 22:09

@AmethystMoonShine you can still get rose libertine, I bought a bottle the other week!

AriesTheRam · 10/12/2020 22:12

@ProfessorRedcliffeEmerson me too! I loved the metal tube one,bought it every year.I use burts bees one now

mintich · 10/12/2020 22:16

Benefit moon beam - I've never found a highlighter as good since.

L'oreal Glam Shine in Sand Crystal - loved that gloss but they dont do a similar colour anymore....and it used to smell amazing!

JaceLancs · 10/12/2020 22:20

Samy curling cream in the yellow bottle

Dinnertime22 · 10/12/2020 22:25

Bobbi Brown retouching wand. It was amazing.

sunnymondays · 10/12/2020 22:29

@PatsyStone39

Marc Jacobs face powder. I bloody loved it. And Benefit perfume Caramella, but i've recently found something incredible similar, so i've gotten over that. ha!
Oooh please share! I used to love benefit carmella. Ultimate fave perfume.
MoreKnackeredThanYou · 10/12/2020 22:41

I used to miss Benefit Georgia, the lovely peachy powder which smelled of peaches. Then they brought it back this year! It’s.....not the same. It’s darker and sparkly, and smells different.

AmethystMoonShine · 10/12/2020 22:44

@beargryllshasabigrope where???

KenDoddsDadsDog · 10/12/2020 22:56

Philosophy Greatest Love exfoliant. Nothing has ever come close.
Mac Creme Blush. I’ve bought every one that’s come up on eBay.
Prada Infusión D’Iris eau de toilette version. Has a slightly fresher smell to the perfume.

NowWhatUsernameShallIHave · 10/12/2020 23:04

Ghost luminous
Ghost serenity
17 eyeliner
Revlon skinlights original
Bronzer from Avon

LishaFlynn · 10/12/2020 23:14

RoC Chronoblock. Best SPF daily moisturiser ever. Loved it so much I bought 20 odd tubes when it was discontinued. Can't even buy it overseas now 😒

Namerchanger42 · 10/12/2020 23:19

@DecemberSun

I'm still mourning the long departed Rimmel Black Cherry lipstick.
@DecemberSun revlon do an almost identical one called black cherry too!
Carriemac · 10/12/2020 23:27

Diva perfume and body lotion. On my very last bottle

BathshebaWasOnTheRoof · 10/12/2020 23:34

Cornsilk loose face powder 😩

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/12/2020 23:40

M&S Formula scent ( it was a spray) frosted oval glass bottle .
Then they put it in a (smaller) frosted cylindrical bottle

Then stopped making it .

The turds Angry

ChaToilLeam · 10/12/2020 23:46

I loved Rimmel Black Cherry too. And YSL had a lipstick shade 78, which was a sheer deep purply red. It was the first posh lipstick I ever bought and smelt and looked wonderful.

frugalkitty · 10/12/2020 23:53

I agree with Revlon Flex, that stuff was amazing.
I stocked up on Bourjois blushers recently so hopefully have enough to see me through until I die for a while
Also stocked up on Boots 17 phwoar paint as nothing else works as well on me
I miss the Liz Earle lipsticks and nail varnish, but also their Spot On spot treatment and Hip and Thigh Gel
Very Valentino was a lovely perfume
And going back a while, Garnier used to do a face wash which was gentle and didn't leave my skin dry, smelt lovely and kept spots at bay and I've never found one as good

Iamthewombat · 11/12/2020 00:03

Was that the green Garnier face wash gel that came in a white and green tube? I mourn that.

Not as much as I mourn Nars Laguna liquid bronzer though. Tried to buy some earlier this year and found that it had been discontinued, WHY. Nothing comes close. Powder bronzers aren’t as good. Take note, Nars.

I get narked when perfumes are discontinued then brought back as something not as good. Eau de Givenchy was gorgeous, discontinued in the nineties then brought back as a ‘special’, but a pale shadow of its former self.

Although not as bad as Tweed. I had a nostalgic sniff of Tweed in an inexpensive chemist this year (older female relatives used to wear it in the seventies) and I swear it smelled like an ashtray!

RollneckJumper · 11/12/2020 00:13

@mintich

Benefit moon beam - I've never found a highlighter as good since.

Try "Feeling Younger" skin tint from Lush - makes a fantastic highlighter, very similar to Moon Beam.

RollneckJumper · 11/12/2020 00:17

The Body shop did a 'Spiced Apple' Christmas collection around 6/7 years ago. It smelt absolutely amazing!
I've looked out for it every Christmas since and it's never reappeared.

Versace 'Yellow Jeans' perfume.

SophieGiroux · 11/12/2020 00:24

@LadyOfTheCanyon

I miss the GAP perfume that came out with Dream and the other one. ( Grass?) It was called Om and I loved it. Is still on eBay for silly money and Perfume Parlour don't do a dupe. Angry

MAC Select Sheer pressed powder - that stuff was perfect.

Another Gucci Envy mourner here.

Finesse shampoo.

Back in the early 90s M&S did a range of body stuff in metal tins that was bergamot scented. They were amazing.

Talking of metal tins - the original Nicky Clarke hair range from the 90s. Smelt incredible.

Oh I loved the Nicky Clarke Hairomatherapy range! Then they changed it and put it in plastic bottles and the formulation wasn't the same. Sales went downhill so then discontinued. Don't know why they got rid of it. Essential oils were very big in the mid 90s as I recall.
TheFormidableMrsC · 11/12/2020 00:25

Rimmel lasting colour lipstick, no 54 and no 38. The two most perfect nude pinks. Warm and flattering. Why they stopped producing them I have no idea. I've been buying them on eBay when I can but now they are becoming ridiculously expensive so I need to find something else. Don't get me started on Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation that I am currently stockpiling. Grrr.
