AARRGHH! Discontinued favourites 😡

I’m SO annoyed! Just went to the Lish website to reorder my Queen Bee hair stuff and found it’s gone. Replaced by a cream which just won’t be right for me - it’s the addition of beeswax that stops my hair from fluffing up and releasing all moisture.

So I have two questions. What favourites of yours have been discontinued and what did you replace it with? And can you recommend anything to replace Queen Bee? 😭 I guess technically that’s three questions but still....

I am also annoyed that I bought a lipstick from Mac (it was a limited edition to be fair) which was discontinued with no equivalent replacement. It was perfect.

@Appuskidu

Body shop did a fab dry oil spray in a glass Bottle. I bought 4 from the discontinued bucket for £1 each in 2000 and they smelt sooo lovely. I’d love to know what the smell was.

Eau de Gucci perfume

Coral Koi Mac lipstick

Colour me beautiful lipstick-in terracotta, it was the perfect colour

If you mean the original 1980s Eau du Gucci (rectangular blue tin, blue box) there are some on eBay. I added to my fragrance memory box from there. There are also loads of the same name but different perfume (glass bottle) Eau du Gucci. The one from iirc about 15 years ago.
GuyFawkesDay · 10/12/2020 06:42

Avene non foaming gel facewash. Was amazing. Can't find anything like it since it was discontinued.

Armani White perfume, in the tin.

Body shop passion fruit cleansing gel (see the theme?!!)

I miss Sephora in the UK.

ouchmyfeet · 10/12/2020 06:45

Charlotte Tilbury's beach stick in formentera, it was PERFECT and now discontinued.

One from my teenage years but I'm sure I'd still be buying passion fruit cleansing gel from the body shop if it was available.

Also miss lemon aid. If they ever discontinue Clinique's lash power mascara I'll be devastated.

Flex is available on Amazon but it's not the same. Also loved Charles Worthington shampoos and conditioner from boots. The ones in the bright coloured, funny shaped bottles. My hair has never been as shiny as it was with them

whatsoccuringnow · 10/12/2020 06:53

Kate Moss Perfumes (particularly Velvet Hour)
D&G Feminine perfume
Benefit bad gal eye pencil, the original really chunky one
Buff naked lipstick by loreal

@earsup

Aramis. New west for her...I got a new bottle on eBay a few years ago and paid £130 ..I have had a few sprays from it but could easily resell it for £200 now !!
I still miss New West - I have never found another perfume that I love as much
Ginfordinner · 10/12/2020 07:57

Like a couple of posters I am disappointed that the Boots no7 damson blusher has been discontinued. Their other blushers are too orangey for my skin. I still have some left, and am not using much right now as I am WFH.
However, I have just found this

ZoomFatigue · 10/12/2020 07:59

Does anyone think the Laura Mercier Tinted Illuminating Moisturiser is no longer the same? I use the Bare Radiance one.

Last year they were out of stock for ages, then it came out with new packaging and it just doesn't seem the same Sad.

PajamasnoDramas · 10/12/2020 08:05

Very Valentino by Valentino, went through so many bottles of that.

Prada Tendre - I have a full boxed bottle which am loathe to use up.

Ponds Cold cream, recently went back to this and halfway through the pot discovered that it’s no longer being stocked in UK. So hard to find a replacement as so many cleansers appear to be wash off these days.

Another discontinued thing I miss is the perfume oil bar at Body Shop. Didn’t buy a great deal but loved smelling them all.

MustardMitt · 10/12/2020 12:55

Kind of glad I don’t know what Gucci Envy smells like tbh!

LadyOfTheCanyon · 10/12/2020 14:15

Oh yes the Body shop oil bar! I used to love the woody sandalwood. Nothing since has come close

EleanorRigbyWasReal · 10/12/2020 15:32

Agree with Gucci Envy. Have NO IDEA why they discontinued it because there was such a backlash.
Bobbi Brown BB Cream Spf35. This was wonderful stuff. Quick and easy to use. And whatever you put on top, it stayed there all day.
Miss Dior (the original - Houndstooth design bottle) in Eau de Parfum. Wonderful stuff.

A few others... I might come back.

CherylStreep · 10/12/2020 17:10

Armani White for Her

LopsidedWombat · 10/12/2020 18:24

@QueenPaws thank you so much, I bought the last two! I had no idea phb were sold elsewhere, I probably could have stocked up on a cupboard full if I'd take some initiative! BlushGrin A lesson learned for the next time something I love is discontinued.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/12/2020 19:05

Benefit Lemonaid

www.beautyoutlets.co.uk/beauty/makeup/primers-fixers-and-sealers/w7-lemon-meringue-anti-redness-eye-primer/

This looks similar

ChrisPriss · 10/12/2020 19:12

Boots fragrance free face wash - cheap and effective - has been discontinued. I have cried for 6 weeks over this.

HerFlowersToLove · 10/12/2020 19:15

Vichy Creme Teinte Lumineuse in shade 0. It was the best tinted moisturiser ever and then they got rid of the fairest shade. Nothing has ever replaced it. I'd pay good money for a final tube of it.

DrMaryMalone · 10/12/2020 19:22

Couture! By Moschino was one of my absolute favourite perfumes so was gutted when it was discontinued. Tribu from United Colours of Benetton was another.

More recently E.L.F don't seem to be selling their illuminating powder palette anymore. Might have treated myself to an Illamasqua highlighter for Christmas as an alternative...

jjw93 · 10/12/2020 20:08

Timotei Golden Highlights Shampoo was the best shampoo ever. Haven't found anything better.

Also Boots ingredients coconut deep conditioner and leave in spray. Boots seem to discontinue their own products alot.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 10/12/2020 20:15

For fellow Gucci Envy mourners Jo Loves Flower Shop is a pretty good dupe - it definitely took me back 20 years when I first bought it.

Redtulip8 · 10/12/2020 20:16

Armani City Glam perfume in the pink bottle

WellTidy · 10/12/2020 20:20

Estée Lauder lipstick on shade Caffe Latte. A Mid 2000s staple for me and I would love to buy it again.

Also, Vidal Sassoon sold separated of their shampoo and conditioner in Tesco in the early 1990s for about £2.50-3.00 each. I know this as that was my hourly rate at the time, and I remember thinking that if worked for two hours to buy them! They were fantastic for my fine, flyaway hair. I think they had letters for the shampoo and numbers for the conditioner. So you would be a B2 or a C3 or whatever.

RosesAndHellebores · 10/12/2020 20:22

Boots 3 in 1 wipes in the green packets; replaced with skimpier ones in white packets.

Boots No 7 blusher - pinky damson in little powdery balls.

Geminesse make-up and skincare c1980s.

Camay Soap

DecemberSun · 10/12/2020 20:27

I'm still mourning the long departed Rimmel Black Cherry lipstick.

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 10/12/2020 20:31

I loved Stella McCartney peony.

There was a sea minerals herbal essences which was good for my greasy hair that a can't find any more. And in fact most shampoo for greasy/oily hair seems to have disappeared. Everything is moisturising now, which is really not what I'm looking for.

I'm scared they're going to discontinue Benefit Dallas. You can hardly get it in store any more.

PEKitInAJaneNormanBag · 10/12/2020 20:35

A Boots Botanics hair serum that made my hair so soft and manageable. Gap Dream perfume.

Goodbye sweet Prince(s)
