AARRGHH! Discontinued favourites 😡

I’m SO annoyed! Just went to the Lish website to reorder my Queen Bee hair stuff and found it’s gone. Replaced by a cream which just won’t be right for me - it’s the addition of beeswax that stops my hair from fluffing up and releasing all moisture.

So I have two questions. What favourites of yours have been discontinued and what did you replace it with? And can you recommend anything to replace Queen Bee? 😭 I guess technically that’s three questions but still....

I am also annoyed that I bought a lipstick from Mac (it was a limited edition to be fair) which was discontinued with no equivalent replacement. It was perfect.

Karl Lagerfeld KL. I've never found any dupes mentioned anywhere either

Anchoredowninanchorage · 09/12/2020 23:00

Two perfumes - nu by ysl lovely musky amber in round silver bottle & Donna Karan black cashmere , both from late 90’s I think & worked so well with my skin, gutted that they were discontinued and sell occasionally on eBay for crazy money

SinisterBumFacedCat · 09/12/2020 23:02

Spectacular Nail Varnish - all the colours of the rainbow for 99p. I’ve yet to find a similar shade to their Brighton Rock that looked exactly like, well, Brighton Rock.

Next Just Pink Desire, it smelt exactly like the first bottle of perfume I was given for Xmas and would give me a Christmas morning buzz.

Borjouis make up -especially the blushers

Boots No 17, bright, sparkly and cheap as chips! Replaced by that God awful 50 shades of beige Sleek brand, boring as fuck. And they also stopped stocking Barry M in their smaller stores, Boots Make up has gone down hill recently. Don’t even talk to me about Superdrug rebranding as Savers and completely ditching make up- the BASTARDS!

Bourjois healthy mix foundation Sad

LaurieFairyCake · 09/12/2020 23:09

Bourjois health mix foundation is on Amazon for £7.99
Confused

LaurieFairyCake · 09/12/2020 23:11

And their blushers for £5.99 (including my favourite Rose de brun)

@PatsyStone39

Marc Jacobs face powder. I bloody loved it. And Benefit perfume Caramella, but i've recently found something incredible similar, so i've gotten over that. ha!
What is your benefit Carmella dupe @PatsyStone39 ? I loved that perfume, still have a tiny bit left in a bottle!

I also have some benefit 10 left Grin

Fluffyandsilly · 09/12/2020 23:13

I’m joining the previous posters who are mourning Benefit Lemonaid. It was such a great product and I can’t find anything else the same.
Also Bourjois poudre de riz and the rouge velvet lipsticks.
And Palmolive chocolate passion shower gel.

A few years ago on a similar thread I was bemoaning the fact I couldn’t buy Angel Innocent perfume as it was discontinued. And a lovely Mumsnetter kindly messaged me to tell me you could now buy it on the Thierry Mugler site.
So I’m now going to cross my fingers someone messages me something similar about Lemonaid!

Woohoowoowoo · 09/12/2020 23:14

I used to love Garnier stuff. They did a face cream that came in a green pot that was great. They also did a fab skin firming moisturiser. Both soaked in really quickly. Both no longer available.

I vaguely remember a time when Boots Curl Creme wasn't available and was rumoured to be discontinued. Thankfully its available still. I am haunted with memories of trying to find an alternative for the better part of 12 months and resorting to hair straighteners.

VikingsandDragons · 09/12/2020 23:16

Gucci Envy also.

For discontinued makeup try ebay, I've got a favorite that was officially discontinued years ago, but can still get it abroad so I buy it on there.

FinallyHere · 09/12/2020 23:17

AmazIng range of colours

https://www.cosmeticsalacarte.com

They can do bespoke foundation and even recreate a discontinued lipstick.

Habbyhadno · 09/12/2020 23:18

The old GAP fragrances in the steel bottles, grass, dream they were amazing.

TDMN · 09/12/2020 23:24

Boots 17 range - semi permanent liquid eyeliner.
Bombproof. Lasted Thursday - Monday on me multiple times at festivals. Sweat? No problem. Hayfevery watery eyes? Totally fine. Swimming pool? Still on, no stinging or movement.

They discontinued it about 12 months before 17 disappeared. I tried all the usual suggestions but none of them were watery-eye proof on windy days or with hayfever. Stila is decent for waterline but terrible for wings. Kat Bon D was worse than Stila.
There is a happy ending though. I had given up all hope until NYX came into my local Boots, and they do a semi permanent waterproof eyeliner and its actually bloody good!! Still only 90% as good as my beloved 17 though.

Anon22 · 09/12/2020 23:25

Lancôme Esprit de Soleil

Waterlemon · 09/12/2020 23:26

So many old (90s) perfumes I miss, Many already mentioned,

yet I have rarely worn perfume since my first pregnancy 15 years ago when I had horrendous Morning sickness.

My favourite though was by shiseido vocalise, in a circular bottle

@Namerchanger42

I'm still using my old pot of that damson blush! It's taken me years!

I loved a perfume made by lancome that they brought out as part of a heritage collection. I can't find it anywhere anymore but I love it! Sad

OohImBlindedByTheLights · 09/12/2020 23:33

Ghost perfume - serenity

Boots 17 range! Their mascaras were amazing! They kept the whole discontinue of the range very quiet!

Benefit b-spot perfume, the ballerina bath and shower wash and 10! Memories of working on the benefit counters as a 'benebabe' back in 2007!

CosyQueen · 09/12/2020 23:48

Bourjois health mix foundation serum, and concealer
Kate moss perfume (the original one) was amazing and reminds me of being a teenager!
17 mirror shine lipstick in belle - was my perfect my lips but better and with a nice subtle non-sticky shine!

LopsidedWombat · 09/12/2020 23:50

Phb Ethical Beauty face masks. I miss them on a weekly basis and it's well over a year now since I bought my last one! Can't understand why they stopped making them. One of the few products I've used where I can notice a significant difference in my skin immediately (smoother, softer, brighter and younger!) Xmas Sad

Namerchanger42 · 09/12/2020 23:56

Fluffyandsilly

Im joining the previous posters who are mourning Benefit Lemonaid. It was such a great product and I can’t find anything else the same.

I was hoping someone could suggest a dupe? I’ve looked for years and never found anything close ☹️☹️ Currently eeeking out my last bit left in the bottom of the pot which I bought 10 years ago (i think)

DiscontentedWoman · 10/12/2020 00:00

Armani Gio perfume (not the acqua version).
Aveda elixir leave-in hair conditioner.
Both sadly missed

PatsyStone39 · 10/12/2020 00:11

Denholm, it's this www.lookfantastic.com/sol-de-janeiro-cheirosa-62-eau-de-parfum-50ml/12545085.html

It's a bit pricey, so maybe try the body spray or shampoo first to gauge the smell. It's delicious!!

MsCrapola · 10/12/2020 00:18

The original urban decay naked palette!

SophieGiroux · 10/12/2020 00:19

Max factor Lashfinity - only mascara I've found that holds the curl in my lashes until I found Lancôme Hypnose Star - which has also now been discontinued! Angry

Secret deodorants (have to stock up when I go to USA)

Impulse Vanilla Kisses - briefly returned a couple of years ago so I bought loads but disappeared again

Corn Silk - I do still have an unopened one, undecided on whether to sell it on eBay as seems to be going for £50+!

SophieGiroux · 10/12/2020 00:24

Revlon Flex - smelled so good!
