AARRGHH! Discontinued favourites 😡

I’m SO annoyed! Just went to the Lish website to reorder my Queen Bee hair stuff and found it’s gone. Replaced by a cream which just won’t be right for me - it’s the addition of beeswax that stops my hair from fluffing up and releasing all moisture.

So I have two questions. What favourites of yours have been discontinued and what did you replace it with? And can you recommend anything to replace Queen Bee? 😭 I guess technically that’s three questions but still....

I am also annoyed that I bought a lipstick from Mac (it was a limited edition to be fair) which was discontinued with no equivalent replacement. It was perfect.

@ChrissyPlummer

Bath & Body Works had a shop in the Trafford Centre when it first opened. They had a lovely scent called ‘Refreshing Garden Mint’. I was so excited when I went to the States...to find that scent is no longer available!
I loved that scent! I bought the shower gel, body lotion and body mist while on holiday in Florida. Every time I used it, it reminded me of the holiday. I eked out the body mist for as long as I could, but eventually it was no more.

I check their website from time to time in case they bring the scent back, but no joy.

Timotei shampoo!

TheSilentStars · 12/12/2020 17:44

When I graduated in 1988 Shock my Mum bought me some Charles of the Ritz foundation and powder. I think it was called Revenescense. (Am going to Google in a minute) it was probably one of the first "light reflective" foundations and it was AMAZING. Lucidity by EL came after and then suddenly everything was light reflective, but that one was incredible.

I know this thread has focused largely on cosmetics and beauty products but may l deviate slightly.

Showing my age here, I know, but for that special night out, l miss Aristoc Harmony seamed stockings with the point heel. They were true rock and roll and helped turn a posh frock into the poshest frock.

Sadly, the sleaze brigade moved in to hijack wearers of real nylons!

SallyOMalley · 12/12/2020 17:50

Another one for Clinique Gentle Light - the foundation was fantastic.

And perfumes: my favourites always seem to get discontinued: I miss Very Valentino and Tendre Poison (the one in the green bottle). Nina Ricci premiere jour is another one: it seems to have been discontinued in UK shops, but it's still - currently - sold on line.

I'd forgotten about the Neutrogena shampoo - I loved that!

VicMackey · 12/12/2020 17:51

Clinique dewy smooth foundation and their long pretty lashes mascara was the best mascara I have ever used - really miss both of them

VicMackey · 12/12/2020 17:55

@Breastfeedingwoes

From my 90s teenage years things that got discontinued that I loved -rimmel clear complexion range the foundation was amazing and my skin cleared up then they stopped it all except the powder -Giorgio Beverly Hills ocean dream perfume -17 block mascara it was AMAZING

From recent times things I miss are
No7 tinted moisturiser- the one that they replaced it with is far inferior
No7 cream blush sticks

Was that ocean dream in a blue opaque glass bottle with a little sand dollar in a metal ring around the neck ? If it’s the one I think it was gorgeous

I am from the town where Aristoc, Pretty Polly etc all had factories so was a tights and stockings guru in my teens Grin everyone worked for one of them. I daren't tell my mum that I was wearing Dior 5 denier on a Saturday night when I'd a drawer full of Aristoc and PP nylons.

Clinique are dastardly for discontinuing good products, up-lighting highlighter is no longer available either and the replacements are never better. I use the CC cream but now they have discontinued the medium/dark shade, it’s annoying and they don’t read reviews from their customer base either
BangingOn · 12/12/2020 18:02

Another one I’ve just thought of- Benefit Glamazon. I’ve never found another liquid bronzer that works for me.

StarlightLady · 12/12/2020 18:04

@TheSilentStars - But the Harmony range with the point heel were a touch of class above them all. They came in a range of sizes, were as sheer as glass, fitted like a bespoke hand made glove and as soft as cotton wool.

OohImBlindedByTheLights · 12/12/2020 18:17

Benefit Mr frosty, miss popularity and the calefornia kissin lipgloss! Oh and their liquid foundation 'non-fiction'

OohImBlindedByTheLights · 12/12/2020 18:17

California kissin*

Anjelika · 12/12/2020 18:19

Just 2 perfumes for me 1) Gucci Eau de Parfum II and 2) M&S Bohemia. The second one turns up on eBay quite reasonably priced but I can't find a good dupe for the Gucci one at all 😢

isthismylifenow · 12/12/2020 18:26

@SophieGiroux

Revlon Flex - smelled so good!
Try the South African shop as it is still very much available here.
GGilbert · 12/12/2020 18:36

No 7 mascara in green tube
Clinique Superfit foundation
Almay foundation
Clinique superskinny eyeliner
Vidal Sassoon shampoo and conditioner -the stuff that smelled of marzipan.
Mudd mask -the original dead sea one.
Vo5 deep conditioner in a pinky pearlescent tub loved it in the 80s great conditioner.
Vo5 hot oils

GGilbert · 12/12/2020 18:43

Someone mentioned Miss Dior the original one -it is still available .
The 1950s version used to be in a houndstooth check box?
John Lewis sell it
Pricey but gorgeous.

TheYellowOne · 12/12/2020 18:44

Another one for Clinique Gentle Light products, they made my skin look amazing IRL and in photos.

Also Chanel Lotus Rouge nail varnish. I've found lots of very similar reds, but none quite as perfect as that.

Sexnotgender · 12/12/2020 18:45

@Itsokthanks

Clinique gentle light powder. I've never found a good replacement and still miss it.
I loved their gentle light foundation. I’ve spent a bloody fortune trying to find a replacement.
teawamutu · 12/12/2020 19:06

Prescriptives liquid eyeliner in Mulberry.

The best colour ever to make my eyes really pop, and went on like a dream. Never found anything else like it.

TheSilentStars · 12/12/2020 20:44

I wonder if there are enough Gentle Light lovers to bombard Clinique? Customer pressure made them bring back Almost Lipstick, even though they only brought back Black Honey.

They did bring it back for a short time, just to tease us then discontinued it again 😫
MangoBiscuit · 12/12/2020 20:51

The L'Oreal Elvive anti dandruff shampoo. It's been gone ages now, and I have found a head and shoulders one that works almost as well, but it's over twice the cost and only available online.

Tesco Barbara Daly make up, all in one pressed powder stuff. Gave me the best skin I've ever had

LilyLongJohn · 12/12/2020 21:00

Estée Lauder toner seems to have sold out everywhere, it's been like this for about a month now. I hope they haven't discontinued it

TheSilentStars · 12/12/2020 21:10

@Sexnotgender, what Black Honey? The Clinique website has it, or did in September when I bought one.
