AARRGHH! Discontinued favourites 😡

I’m SO annoyed! Just went to the Lish website to reorder my Queen Bee hair stuff and found it’s gone. Replaced by a cream which just won’t be right for me - it’s the addition of beeswax that stops my hair from fluffing up and releasing all moisture.

So I have two questions. What favourites of yours have been discontinued and what did you replace it with? And can you recommend anything to replace Queen Bee? 😭 I guess technically that’s three questions but still....

I am also annoyed that I bought a lipstick from Mac (it was a limited edition to be fair) which was discontinued with no equivalent replacement. It was perfect.

I used to love The Body Shop Raspberry Ripple Bathing Bubbles and Cosmetics To Go Smaragadine bubble bath. I wish Lush would bring it back.

LongHotSummerJustPassedMeBy · 12/12/2020 09:48

I also loved the Vidal Sassoon shampoo and conditioner that smelled of almonds. They used to do it in little sachets which were a lovely treat at the time.

TheSilentStars · 12/12/2020 09:50

@Blondiney

That Vidal Sassoon shampoo and conditioner from the early 90s. Smelled of almonds. I think fondly of that stuff way too often.
It was way before the early 90s. My Mum bought it for me in about 1978-9. It was probably the first "salon" shampoo you could get in places like Boots. It was wonderful. The scent was amazing!
EleanorRigbyWasReal · 12/12/2020 09:57

@TheSilentStars I LOVED that Sassoon stuff.

In 1984, you could get a skin moisturiser with the fragrance too. I used to bulk buy it. It really was beautiful.

EleanorRigbyWasReal · 12/12/2020 09:59

And...

Bobbi Brown Telluride Bronzer. It was only available in the US but DH used to get it for me. Then, a few popped up on ebayUk which I bought but now, nothing. It was THE BEST for my cool toned colouring. All others make me orange.

harryandmarv · 12/12/2020 10:12

Boots Style Works Heat Protection Serum. It was the best.

Habbyhadno · 12/12/2020 10:23

I've remembered another one: MAC shadestick in Sharkskin, I went through loads of those in my late 20s

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 12/12/2020 10:31

Those missing the Vidal sassoon shampoo, Aveda cherry almond smells gorgeous. Really almondy.

Habbyhadno · 12/12/2020 10:40

Oh, and Lancôme Impactive moisturiser. It made my skin feel amazing.

MrsBobDylan · 12/12/2020 10:53
  1. Boots curl creme £5 for a large pink tub, everyone bloody loved it but Boots pulled it with no replacement.
  1. Byzance perfume by Rochas - they discontinued it in the 90s after I had been wearing it for years. However, I've just googled it and I think they have released it again!!!!
  1. Literally any foundation which is moisturising enough and comes in a plastic bottle. Clinique and Clarins have done this repeatedly to me and it's very upsetting Sad
Fifilafrog · 12/12/2020 10:54

@AriesTheRam

Gio by Giorgio Armani.Loved it so much if I smelt it now it would take me back to clubbing in my early 20s
Omg yes. I treated myself to an almost empty bottle on eBay. Not to use, just to sniff every now and then. People knew me by that perfume. I miss it so much!
MrsBobDylan · 12/12/2020 10:59

...just read reviews on the re-released one and it is a re-interpretation and not a popular one at that. Why, why, why do they do this?

LongHotSummerJustPassedMeBy · 12/12/2020 11:01

Thank you *icanboogieboogiewoogie’Smile

I would've been 5 then. Don't think I had a preference for Vidal Sassoon products at that age. I was in secondary school so possibly late 80s rather than early 90s.

It was fabulous though.

Tweetypietwo · 12/12/2020 13:32

Olay ribbons body wash! Haven't seen it in years. They did a bubble bath too but can't remember the name.

ChrissyPlummer · 12/12/2020 13:51

Bath & Body Works had a shop in the Trafford Centre when it first opened. They had a lovely scent called ‘Refreshing Garden Mint’. I was so excited when I went to the States...to find that scent is no longer available!

rookiemere · 12/12/2020 13:51

Thanks to this thread I'm now googling Dolce and Gabbana Sicily dupes without much success Confused

Redlocks28 · 12/12/2020 14:10

Not really style and beauty, but I really miss the original pink germolene ointment!

Oh, and Medised!

RightOnTheEdge · 12/12/2020 14:16

Avon did a Korean range and I loved the milk hand cream it smelt lovely.
They don't do them anymore. I haven't found an alternative yet.

MaeveTheRave1 · 12/12/2020 15:44

As mentioned by pps Armani White - haven't found anything like it since ☹

Darklane · 12/12/2020 15:49

Boots did a wonderful Mediterranean skin care range that disappeared without trace.

BusterGonad · 12/12/2020 16:12

I have 2 products I'd love to buy again, no1 Estee Lauder had a limited edition pot of flower petel blusher things, all different shades of pink and in the centre a gold highlighter. Circa 2000. No2 Benefit Flamingo Fancy which was a body bronzer cream with pink bronze and gold and shimmer. I loved it as it smelt great and washed off. So easy to use. Theres always a half used one on Ebay for £££ but who knows if it's rancid and refilled with something else. I think that was the early 2000s too.

BusterGonad · 12/12/2020 16:17

And others I've liked, Olay had a make up range for a while, they had the best tinted moisturiser, it was really glowy minus the glitter. About 1998 I think.

I used to use this stuff when I was a nurse. It was brilliant for hair that was shoved up under a nurses hat all day. I was a nurse in 1980.

Benefit jiffy tan! Was a great waterproof instant tan!
