Can I still wear bodycon? Brutally honest answers please.

Have attached photos. I am a slim (size 8) hourglass. However I am also 45 and have given birth to 3 children. My stomach has a slight curve even with control panels in my tights or underwear.

Can I still wear bodycon? On a good day I think I can. On a bad day I worry I'm kidding myself. My friends won't tell me the truth.

Thanks to this I’ve just ordered a blouse and jumper from Karen millen.

Because that’s just what I need in lock down,,,but they were in the sale and we won’t be locked down forever,,,will we,😂

Doodar · 09/11/2020 17:29

it looks great from the front, could you get some pants to lift your bum, would look better from the side.

IrishMumInLondon2020 · 09/11/2020 17:31

It’s not a flattering look on you.

HTH1 · 09/11/2020 17:33

You can pull it off, but I think there are dresses which would look much nicer.

Spiderbaby8 · 09/11/2020 17:38

Wear it if you feel comfortable. People bigger than size 8 wear bodycon all the time, there's nothing wrong with it.

ChippyPickledEggs · 09/11/2020 17:40

Not worried about me arse Doodar. As I said earlier in the thread it's my favourite bit. All my special friends have preferred to follow behind me Grin I'm not the most accomplished selfie taker so perhaps it's not the most flattering angle.

You have a beautiful figure - you could wear whatever you wanted.

But that dress? It somehow makes you look frumpy. I’m not sure how a very fitted dress could ever make a size 8 look frumpy, but that dress somehow manages it. Confused

There must be a million and one better alternatives out there!

You are front of house - you should, and very clearly could, look fabulous!

Bumble84 · 09/11/2020 17:43

Yes, definitely. You look great!

ChippyPickledEggs · 09/11/2020 17:44

Yes, it's important, Merchant. I do have to look decent for work. I've not yet worn that dress to work as I wasn't sure...

@Hayeahnobut

You have a lovely figure, but that dress does nothing for you.
Sorry but I also agree. You have a great figure but that dress makes your legs look short.
ChippyPickledEggs · 09/11/2020 17:48

Yes Roses I think it may be the camera angle as I actually have long legs in relation to my torso.

wallyb · 09/11/2020 17:48

You have an amazing figure but I agree it's oddly frumpy. Which is weird as it's tight & you have a good shape.

wallyb · 09/11/2020 17:49

Maybe it's the length of the dress or the camera angle.

VintageTeaRose · 09/11/2020 18:00

Personally I wouldn't. Not because you don't have the figure for it (you do), but because it's a universally unflattering look.

I also think that particular dress isn't the best version of bodycon, as the fabric looks so thin and stretchy.

Bluejewel · 09/11/2020 18:04

Meant in the kindest way OP - but you’re not sure about the dress for work - you’re instincts kicked in and you should trust it . You are lucky enough to have a good figure so your options are pretty limitless.

Bluntness100 · 09/11/2020 18:04

I think it’s the colour, the v neck and the buttons, I genuinely thought it was quite old as it just looks quite dated.

I genuinely think the green round neck one is much more stylish.

Sorry op, it’s not you I think it’s the dress folks are reacting to.

Mind you i can’t talk, I just ordered this for 17 quid for the summer, never usually wear orange or frills so not sure what came over me..

ChippyPickledEggs · 09/11/2020 18:05

Have to wear black for work, Bluntness - it's the only stipulation.

OP posts:
wallyb · 09/11/2020 18:10

I like the one @Bluntness100 linked. much sharper

Bluntness100 · 09/11/2020 18:13

They do it in black, not sure I’m talking you into it though,,😃

KatDubs261 · 09/11/2020 18:14

Of course, you look great.

JoeCalFuckingZaghe · 09/11/2020 18:16

Can you? Yes.
This outfit. No.
Those chunky thick boots do NOT go. You need to show leg with this dress, no or bare tights and heels.

MrsSpringfield · 09/11/2020 18:18

I came on here to say no, because most people look dreadful in bodycon past the age of ..say,25. But you look friggin FABULOUS. Wear what you want, make the most of your gorgeous slim figure. Mum tum is tiny.

SunbeamShadow · 09/11/2020 18:24

You have a fabulous figure OP, you can absolutely wear bodycon.

stackemhigh · 09/11/2020 18:26

Was about to say YABU, you clearly have an amazing figure, but then realized you posted in Style. You look great!

PearlclutchersInc · 09/11/2020 18:40

God yes lol Just wear decent foundation wear so you're sleek Grin
