I saw a thread about what we accept we cannot wear, so I thought a thread about what looks great on us would be nice as well!

I have lusted after some rockstuds for a while - had a big work related success recently so treated myself 😊

PastramiNoRye · 01/11/2020 22:15

I suit orange, mustard and khaki. Long sleeved belted midi dresses are my best look. I'm tall with a relatively small waist so the proportions work.

I also suit a woolly hat and I rock a strong-coloured (warm) lipstick.

The things I don't suit are plentiful...a mini skirt and vest top would make me cry!

Ohchristmastreeohchristmastree · 02/11/2020 06:51

Black and Navy. Dark colours.
Winged eyeliner.
Bodycon dresses (Summer).
Faux Fur coats.
Slim ankle jeans.
I’m a slim pear. Although lockdown/stress of this year may have made me a little less slim.

LunaTheCat · 02/11/2020 09:38

Short and size 12 to 14 ( recently more at the 14 end)
Big boobs

  • slash or boat neckline
-bright colours especially lipstick -bright colours -always a scarf
  • Birkenstock’s in summer, Allbirds sneakers in winter
  • being comfortable
  • natural fibres
-always being a “bit imperfect”
  • red velvet 1950’s coat from a charity shop which I have had 20 years and always makes me feel amazing.
  • dresses are better than separates when you are short
  • Garcia jeans.
peaceanddove · 02/11/2020 15:20

I'm 5ft 6, size 12 and just turned 50. I still have great legs and a trim arse so I always look good in jeans and mini skirts. I also have surprisingly thick, long eyelashes and am occasionally asked if I'm wearing faux lashes! So, I always layer on the Bad Gal Bang mascara and use eyelash curlers.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 02/11/2020 16:52

Clingy jersey long-sleeved tops.
Deep cold colours - black, navy, forest green, brown. Pale/pastel colours look awful!
Midi skirts.
Ankle-length rolled trousers to show off my tiny ankles (my only tiny bit!)
Red lipstick and big hair.

Separatedandabitsad · 02/11/2020 18:01

We all have fabulous bits! I love hearing people be positive about how the look. Sure we’re a bunch of babes! GrinGrin

It really is about maximising the good. I spent years obsessing over what I couldn’t wear & feeling crap about my ‘bad’ bits. Now I try to focus on what looks good on me. I’m broke these days so no new clothes but in mid 2021 I’m hoping to get some new bits to maximise my own bits!

@Monkeytapper

I find jumpsuits on me are flattering, I’m 5ft 7 and size 10/12.
I look like a teletubby in jumpsuits :)
MindBodyChocolate · 02/11/2020 18:09

A black cashmere rollneck jumper with good eye make up. I'm convinced I could pass as Parisian :)

Separatedandabitsad · 02/11/2020 18:14

Teletubbies are cute!

@MindBodyChocolate

You’ve inspired me to wear eye makeup again!

Honestly never looked at myself in clothes and think I look nice. How sad! 😂
I think my make up always looks nice though. I'm quite good at make up so can give myself a point for that.

Goodlockdownhair · 02/11/2020 18:31

Belted dresses
Hats
Fake fur

I rarely wear any of them Grin

Separatedandabitsad · 02/11/2020 21:01

@EatTheHamTina

I’m sure many others have thought you looked nice many times.

I am also 5ft7 and a size 18 I look best in plain dark clothes and try to stick with that though I love colour. Weirdly, given my size, I look alright in the off duty ballerina look, pleated skirt or yoga pants and layered jersey. I love a cashmere cardi. But currently rarely out of my velour joggers. My hair has changed from chestnut brown to an ashy silver and I know this has changed the colours I suit, but don’t really know what works best now, but maybe moving away from navy and black to earthy colours.I look awful in frills, big prints And high necks.

Thank you. I hope so. Grin

grassisjeweled · 03/11/2020 01:03

Any pair of pants tucked in knee high boots makes me look taller and thinner

Shirts tucked into pants - why haven't I learnt earlier that this makes me look so much thinner?

Jewel colours

Pencil skirts with a tight scoop neck top tucked in

At least elbow length sleeves

Fitted skirts

grassisjeweled · 03/11/2020 01:05

Shirts look great on me too. I have to get them sewn up between the middle few buttons though, to avoid flashing my bra - but as seen as this only costs me about £3 it's totally worth it!

PriceEmUp · 03/11/2020 01:09

Red. I suit red.

I still can’t dress myself though. I have absolutely no idea how to dress for my shape, no idea what my actual size is and no idea what looks nice on me. I’ve tried all sorts and all disasters.
I genuinely despise being me sometimes. I just never look ‘out together’ because I have the body of a 42 year old that takes her children to school in her pyjamas with a fag hanging out her gob.

I’m 24 Grin

Separatedandabitsad · 03/11/2020 01:15

Grin Just keep rockin’ that red!!

@Zenithbear

5ft 5 8/10 slim with ample boobs and long legs Skinny jeans Leather leggings Fitted mini skirts Shorts Fitted tops Plain no patterns Greys, blues, pinks, purples, green in muted tones. Metallics. Anything with a (subtle) rock chick vibe.
Sorry, but 5'5" "with long legs" made me laugh! 🤭😂
PolkadotGiraffe · 03/11/2020 01:26

For me definitely jewel colours. High waists for trousers and I like mid length skirts, fitted tops. Throw kimono kind of jackets over jeans or harem pants and tops if slouching around or going to a pub or restaurant. Smarter jackets for work. Although a shirt and high waisted trousers is a good look smart or casual. Depends on my mood! If it's summer or I'm going out for a proper occasion I love to wear dresses, just feels much more relaxed and less effort. I'm 5'11" and 60kg if that helps.

Diadora30 · 03/11/2020 11:59

High/ roll neck tops. I have a very defined jawline and these tops emphasise it.

caperplips · 03/11/2020 13:29

I'm 5ft 9" size 12 and I have 34" legs. I suit slightly boyish 1930's style - wide legged wool trousers, fitted small jackets / blazers (I have a range of the jersey ones from Whistles and love them), brogues or flat chelsea boots
I like nice blouses, in good fabrics, silk etc and often with a floppy bow on the neck

I tend towards being apple shaped so really have to watch myself weight wise. I gained a lot over the past year or so but have lost 12lbs in the past 6 weeks and will continue for another while.

I don't suit lipstick (thin lips :-( )

XingMing · 03/11/2020 17:09

I feel great in jeans, sweaters and trainers... which is good as that, with workout gear, is most of what I wear. I'm 64, 8-10 bottom, 12-14 top and 5'5" with decent legs and arms. But I am persnickety to obsessed about the individual items. I look good in cool dark colours and saturated corals and reds... no pastels, ever.

And I have a good face for hats.
