I saw a thread about what we accept we cannot wear, so I thought a thread about what looks great on us would be nice as well!

Raspberry pink

Separatedandabitsad · 01/11/2020 11:45

I think red is my colour but I wear all colours because I love colour (even though some definitely suit me better than others). I’ve been playfully mocked for the bold colour of some of my clothes but I don’t care - a splash of colour cheers me up!

@Sandytoes86 why not? Is it so that you don't lure all the hot men away from me??

Rosere · 01/11/2020 12:52

@monkeytapper that jumpsuit is beautiful.

Thank you @Separatedandabitsad I love a positive thread.

I rock a short skater dress and boots, the colour red and bizarrely one pair of navy scrubs🤣 Scrubs are generally unflattering as well as mega comfortable but I have one pair that fits well and they transform me from a simple "I work here" to "I run here". They are a state of mind and I love them for that.

That made me laugh, as I remember once complimenting a surgeon I saw regularly in work gear on what she looked like that day, and she said she was wearing the only flattering scrubs she possessed.

PizzzaExpressWoking · 01/11/2020 13:01

Either white or black makes me look amazing. I have very dark red hair and dark eyes and very black thick eyebrows and eyelashes - white provides an interesting contrast to the darkness, while black is the only colour that makes my hair look really red, not just dark.

PizzzaExpressWoking · 01/11/2020 13:02

Unfortunately I don't like wearing white or black since I'm a huge fan of bright colours, which don't look as good on me.

I also once owned a pair of cheap supermarket yoga pants which made my bum look better than any item of clothing I've ever owned.

Welshponyslave · 01/11/2020 13:16

Midi tea dresses
Skinny coated jeans with biker boots

I love wearing both and have a wardrobe full of midi and midaxi dresses.

On the make up front it is dusky pink eye shadow and pillow talk lipstick and lip liner.

Oly4 · 01/11/2020 13:21

Curvy size 12 here
Knee length dresses with a fitted waist
High waist jeans
Thigh length sweaters

Rosere · 01/11/2020 13:22

Hahaha it is true. When you spend your work life in clothes that are often 3 sizes too big and the trousers stayup with a bit of rope and a prayer, a well fitted set works wonders🤣

Rosere · 01/11/2020 13:23

Oh and brown eyeliner, not black. Gives me a new face.

CMOTDibbler · 01/11/2020 13:34

Fitted dresses in jewel colours. Ankle grazer trousers with blazers (no fastening, slim lapels)
But randomly I have an unbranded maxi dress with a bateau neckline and shirred waist in cobalt that I get compliments from random strangers on when I wear it. I paid £2 for it on Ebay, but it looks amazing

OhRosalind · 01/11/2020 13:43

Blazers and shirts. I have square (bony not muscular) shoulders like a clothes hanger, so they look good on me.

Mini skirts and short dresses, but I am mostly crawling around after a toddler right now so can’t wear them much.

Hats! I love a beret, fedora etc.

AriesTheRam · 01/11/2020 13:44

Eye make up.
False tan.
Bright colours.
Bodycon dresses.

Ellewoods20 · 01/11/2020 13:45

Ankle boots with a small heel always make me feel so much more confident. No matter how bad I feel, a pair of heeled boots and a trench coat make me feel like I can do anything.

fatherfintanstack · 01/11/2020 14:04

simple, figure hugging dresses in decent quality Jersey, that fit my backside tightly and show enough skin at the neck. smokey eyeliner, deep colours and a bit of a rock vibe. I'm told I suit being slightly dishevelled rather than perfectly polished which is just as well really as I'm a bit of a natural scruff!

nc1962 · 01/11/2020 14:32

Black and very dark green
Leather jackets
Different textures of black
Long coats
Thick waist belts
Dark eye makeup and pale lipsticks

Skinny jeans
Big boots
Chunky silver jewellery
Fitted tops
Skater style skirts that skim knees
Round necklines
Strapless fitted maxi dresses

DarkMutterings · 01/11/2020 14:42

Apple size 10-12
Summer - bootleg jeans, espadrilles and a white linen shirt. Makes my legs look ridiculously long in a way skinnies never will

Winter by contrast, sized down boyfriend jeans, cosy jumper in grey or blue, biker boots

I've tried bootlegs in the winter and boyfriends in the summer but for some reason they never look as good

OneofPansPeople · 01/11/2020 14:45

Bias cut dresses.

Separatedandabitsad · 01/11/2020 14:54

Skinny jeans look terrible on me with shoes/runners/ankle boots but they look terrific with knee-high boots. I find it hard to find decent knee-High boots with a flattish heel though as Even I have disproportionately large calves - so the boots are usually loose on the ankle & tight on the calf, so they never fit just right. I’d pay big money for a good pair so if you’ve any recommendations I’d be delighted. Grin

@OhRosalind

Yes, I too have bony, angular shoulders and I find high-neck t-shirts, structured blouses and blazers look great.

You need Fairfax and Favor boots! Big money but they come in different calf sizes and are so beautiful. I have a 10% off discount code if you’d like it - feel free to PM (not sure if I’m allowed to post it here!)

Great thread! Really enjoyable to read everyone's posts. And god we need some cheering up at the moment.

Anything oversized looks great on me - mainly coats, knitwear, scarves. Its my favourite look. I'm short and slim (ish) but very pear shaped. Oversized clothes make my top half look elfin and hide my bottom half. Win win Grin

I also really suit slightly messy bleach blonde hair and grey eyeliner - sooo much more flattering on my bluey green eyes than black or brown.
