I’m opening all three in December. They build the excitement for me. Opening anything in January just feels forlorn.

If anyone remembers that thing that LF sell that I was hanging on for discounts for (Rodial Bee Venom Cleansing Balm in fact), it finally got down in price by about 40% today through various offers. I almost went for it but double checked on Amazon and they have it at that price every day. Plus Amazon will take off the VAT for me (I don’t pay it) which LF refuses to do. So no LF for me.

I don't think so. There are a lot of complaints on twitter and they seem to be from multiple locations.

There are loads of complaints on Cosmetopia Digest YouTube re the smashed palette in the LF Beauty Chest. It seems like I wasn't the only one.

@Orcadianrythyms Perhaps we can compare mystery boxes when they arrive as we got different once and I'm curious as to what is in all of them. I wasn't entirely sure which one to choose but ended up getting the most expensive so I hope it's nice.

I read this question on my local parents Facebook page yesterday's Loads of people responded to say yes they were affected and now I'm wondering if LF are not lying and our beauty calendars are stuck somewhere in Dublin.

"Anyone else having delays with AnPost deliveries or other deliveries from Irish companies. I’m hearing the DMC (Direct Main sorting Centre) has thousands of parcels that haven’t been unloaded due to lack of space, delivery drivers turning around as there is no space to unload, parcels, and seems Amazon parcels are prioritised over an post and others due to some agreement. Just wondering if anyone else having difficulties. I understand with Covid, online shopping and Christmas all happening together has increased online, but I’ve bought Irish mainly from business all round Ireland and find my parcels are probably lost in the thousands of packages in a yard somewhere, sorry dor the long post,,, just that I had ‘Late late Toy Show’ pjs and treat box ordered for my friends little one abs it hasn’t arrived 😭"

I don't think they ever made it to Dublin. According to the exec I spoke to, they couldn't have as they would have had to get from Poland to UK to Dublin in less than 24 hours which is impossible with processing and transfers. She reckoned they either never made it out of the LF warehouse or the initial courier's warehouse. Would be a nice surprise though if they did turn up.

Happy to share what arrives in the CT Mystery Box @AliceinBunniland. I've liked a couple of things from the brand before but not a huge make up wearer and tend to stick to old favourites. Not many options for browsing but trying to get out of the rut

@Orcadianrythyms I had not tried any CT until this week but I like the items I ordered earlier in the week, especially the lipsticks. I tend to wear the same things too and I haven't been wearing as much make up during lockdown but I do wear some for Zoom meetings. I wasn't sure whether the boxes are make up only or skincare too.

The only thing I realised later is it says all items might not be boxed due to size restrictions (or something) and I had thought I might pass on any items I won't use as Christmas gifts but we'll see... My other CT package came in two days so maybe we'll find out soon!

CT is lovely, I had a beauty collection a year or so ago and still enjoying some of it, eyeshadow, masks and foundation good too but didn’t love the magic cream or mascara. Am opening H&B in December- shall we open a thread to discuss this? ASOS 12 day afterwards when a boost is needed...

I've been looking forward to opening the H&B one for ages but now pondering if to save until January. I've had jury service confirmed for January and dreading it, so thinking I might need something to cheer me up.

Looks like a lot of different calendars are being opened in December. Would anyone be interested in a general beauty advent calendar opening thread, where we can discuss whatever we have opened from any calendar that day? I think the only rule would be that you only reveal the content of any calendar on the relevant day and not before.

I know CT often gets a bit of a bad rep on Mumsnet but I really like all the make up bits I have had, never tried any of the skin care though.

I’ve only ever bought once CT Christmas eyeshadow palette, everytime I saw an ad I wanted it. I indulged and was so disappointed with the powder. The service I got on the CT counter in Selfridges wasn’t great either (very pushy just interested in sales) so really put me off buying anything else. (No issue in other counters that I regularly go)

But. But. One of the nicest parts is opening and commenting/comparing with others on MN and this year, it's great to have the company.

So, I'll be opening my Cult Beauty in December.

Me! I went with Net A Porter but I think I'm massively in the minority. But will interesting to hear what people are getting across different calendars - and potential swaps as well.

Good points @LizzieMacQueen. I'd have to avoid the calendar threads altogether if I saved it and I enjoy reading what others think.

Plus.... I then have a perfect reason for buying other treats to see me through January/jury service. Maybe some good deals will pop up in the sales for us both.

Excellent idea. I plan on making up my own calendar whenever the CEWUK beauty box turns up and adding some other bits to make up 24. I also have Lumene and must people who have that seem to have opened it or are keeping it until January.

I took my l'Occitane advent calendar out of the brown cardboard box it came packed in. It smells fab . I'll surprise DD with hers tomorrow night. She thinks she's getting her normal Dairy Milk advent calendar. Sorry for those who of you who were let down by the LF advent calendars. It's annoying that they kept stringing you along for the best part of a month. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the calendars are delayed in transit and you'll get a nice surprise in December or January.
