How many coats do we think she has?

F'off Autocorrect. *love

MotherofPearl · 22/10/2020 23:19

I don't think we've seen Kate in a coatdress for a very long time, even before the pandemic? When last did she wear a coatdress? Just struck me.

SenecaFallsRedux · 22/10/2020 23:23

Great job with the list of coats. I love coats and have a lot for someone who lives in a warm climate. That long red coat of Kate's is growing on me, I have to say.

Eaumyword · 22/10/2020 23:26

Kate tends to wear a coat dress for Trooping of the Colour, which didn't happen this year. I generally love her in them, she looks very elegant.

Maireas · 23/10/2020 05:30

I love Autumn because I can start to wear my coats again. (Also kick through leaves).
The next event will probably be Remembrance Sunday, although modified for obvious reasons, the aim is for it to go ahead.

I wonder why she chose such a long coat? Was it because it was an entirely outdoor engagement perhaps and she wanted to look formal but stay warm?

It's not even really cold yet. Still only jacket weather where we are (SW).

Laiste · 23/10/2020 11:26

Yeah it's still not very cold here (midlands) but i'm thinking if i was going to do an outdoor engagement as a royal (being relaxed, smiley, smart) i'd not want to take the slightest risk of getting cold. Shivering, distracted or a bit keen to leave. Y'know?

I mean personally i've got a bit of a fat layer all over and i'm still a chilly arse! Grin She's got a very slight figure and i imagine she gets that 'pinched' look quite easily. My eldest DD (26) is very slim and she has this trouble.

The coat is growing on me. I think it's the shoes that are a bit off. The slippery look (as in slippers) and the sensible heel jars a bit with the warm flowing coat. Don't know what i'd say would be better? Some lovely high suede boots?

Eaumyword · 23/10/2020 13:15

I thought that too, Laiste! It's a beautiful colour on her and well tailored. I just thought the proportion would be better with boots.
I'm also Midlands, have a bit of a layer on me and yep, feel the cold! Grin

megletthesecond · 23/10/2020 13:23

Camilla looks amazing in that black outfit.

You're right, it wasn't cold then. It was 16°C and 95% humidity in London on that day.

Kate in some of her Emilia Wickstead pieces.

It is mind blowing the sheer amount of very very similar stuff she ‘has’ to have. Crazy world we live in.

EastonSarah · 23/10/2020 20:15

I'll have one in each colour!

I guess for some of the dresses, dress coats and similar items, (in one way) it kind of makes sense as it is cheaper to use one pattern and the measurements from a previous fitting and then change colour and perhaps a small detail.

MotherofPearl · 23/10/2020 20:17

Maybe she had bought the new long red coat and was so excited to wear it that even though the weather was mild that day she thought 'Sod it, I'm wearing my new coat.' Or maybe that's just me with new clothes!

Laiste · 23/10/2020 20:41

MotherofPearl I love that Grin

Or maybe she got up that day, in the middle of her period (one of those days when you hate everything about yourself)(or is that just me?) and just wanted to be all wrapped up and hidden?

These outings are all meticulously mapped out of course, but they still must have impulses and moods on the day. I wonder how many perfect royal outfits we've admired over the years here were actually thrown on at the end of one of those ''I Hate Everything I Own!!'' sessions? Grin

MotherofPearl · 23/10/2020 20:51

Yes Laiste I love the idea of a huge heap of discarded clothes choices on her bed when she leaves the palace - when I get ready to go out (when going out was still, you know, allowed Grin) I always end up hating all my clothes and leave my bed covered with all the rejected outfits.

AppleKatie · 23/10/2020 21:01

I suppose massive long cover all coat would work on those days the kids have sat too close to you at breakfast 😂

Apassingglance · 23/10/2020 21:09

Or are we all thinking that the coat might be covering up something else? Wink. Perhaps impolite of me to speculate though.

Radiatornoise · 23/10/2020 21:17

A bruised knee after kneeling on Lego?

Apassingglance · 23/10/2020 21:33

@Radiatornoise

A bruised knee after kneeling on Lego?
That's equally as likely I suppose. Smile
martysouth · 23/10/2020 22:59

apassinglance I wondered that too, especially as her body looked a different shape in the blue suit. For once not super slim

latedecember1963 · 24/10/2020 07:57

Thank you for the lovely collages, Easton.
I think Kate looks very elegant in the dresses with the pleated skirts.
I always end up looking frumpy if I try to wear pleats.

Laiste · 24/10/2020 08:04

I NEVER do this ... but i genuinely thought there was a little more bulk than usual under that coat when i looked for the pics.

Could be lockdown weight? LOL

If i had to put money down though, i'd put it down on no more kids. I think they're done at three. I don't think it's that.

Laiste · 24/10/2020 08:07

She's my favorite royal. We mull over her outfits but i'd love to be a tenth of how polished and poised she always looks.

Maireas · 24/10/2020 08:31

Those collages are great, EastonSarah, thank you. Kate obviously decides that a style and shape works, so she orders it in many colours! I think it helps a naturally shy person present herself with confidence.
