So lovely to find this thread. I'm 5ft and size 12.

Can I ask a personal question to those who are size 6... How do you do it?? I find it challenging to maintain at trim figure at my height. To be a size 8 I need to maintain on around 1000cals.

Ignore my Q if it's inappropriate.

Hello! I'm 5'1" and in search for something like the Next joggers I've been living in for most of the last year - they're the sort which are elastic waist, relaxed around the thigh without being too baggy, tapering to the ankle which is not cuffed. Incredibly comfortable. I can't believe they aren't still doing them as a staple basic item... they don't have any joggers in 12S at the moment.

If anyone can think of a good alternative I'd be most grateful!Smile

Sooverthemill · 13/12/2020 19:35

@Fleabag84 I have never ever bought petite underwear. Never even considered it I'm afraid as bras and knickers for me are okay. Vests are often too long but I just put up with it! Feedback if you find any, would be interesting

Sooverthemill · 13/12/2020 19:40

@PusheenLove I used to be 6 bottom and 8 top but post menopause I'm an 8 bottom and 10 top. I don't eat huge amounts but I also don't do much ever other than yoga and running up and down stairs. I don't deliberately watch my weight unless stuff starts feeling tight

Sooverthemill · 13/12/2020 19:41

@TooMinty thanks they are very old Dune

Wackadoo · 15/12/2020 03:56

@ErrolTheDragon I know the joggers you're talking about and am wearing them right now! When I saw that black and navy had sold out, I went and bought them in every colour that was left, even if I didn't like the print.

PusheenLove · 15/12/2020 19:29

@Sooverthemill Roughly how many cals per day would you say you consume? I'm starting to think I am 'big boned'. I have a mesomorph body type.

dontcallmelen · 15/12/2020 20:01

Hello fell off the thread
@PusheenLove I’m 4ft 10” size 4/6 bottom 6/8 top half, I don’t count calories but also don’t have a big appetite, if I eat breakfast I don’t eat lunch also I don’t have a sweet tooth & dislike anything creamy/sauces I realise I sound like one of those “I’m teeny tiny & eat five calories a day brigade”but have always been like this like, I don’t formally exercise but walk a lot & seem to have a lot of nervous energy plus I have two dgd’s that keep me very active.
Must admit never worn petite underwear Yy feedback would be good.

dontcallmelen · 15/12/2020 20:03

@Appzy I have a pair of knee high slim leg boots from Jones the boot maker which fit me nicely, not sure if they still do them though as I bought mine a couple of years ago.

dontcallmelen · 15/12/2020 20:05
@Sooverthemill My Hush Agnes jeans arrived the other day, they are great thanks for the tip! Loose fit but not ridiculously baggy and length is fine (with them folded up and couple of times, but was expecting that). Go great with DMs 😊
Soover dd got some petite coated skinny’s in Topshop last week could also be worth a try.

dontcallmelen · 15/12/2020 20:10

Any luck with winter coats? I’m desperate for a really warm at least knee length, preferably water resistant or even better waterproof with a hood preferably without fur & not black does such a thing exist 🤔🤔

PusheenLove · 15/12/2020 20:12

@01dontcallmelen do you not crave rubbish like chocolate and pizza? Blush

dontcallmelen · 15/12/2020 20:17

Pusheen not often, must admit the weirdest thing since my hysterectomy nearly twenty years ago I stopped craving chocolate hasten to add wouldn’t recommend that as a dieting aid 😃I do love bread & cheese though I think if anything I crave salty stuff way more than anything sweet.

Sooverthemill · 16/12/2020 13:19

@PusheenLove I eat about 1200 a day probably on average ( I sometimes track calories using MyFitnessPal and did so recently as I lost a lot of weight when ill). I do not like chocolate! I prefer savoury to sweet things so samosas over chocolate every time. I did find my weight creeping up during lockdown but that wasn't because of any change in me but that was because DH was always home and we had proper dinners every day. If he's away at work I do t have a full meal every night but scrambled egg or something. I'm sure my weight fluctuates like most people but i don't worry about it unless I can't do up jeans!

@dontcallmelen thanks. But I have enough coated jeans! I only have one thing I have ever bought from top shop ( a pair of jeans via eBay). It's not a shop I ever think about . Haven't they gone bust though? Bet there's some bargains

PusheenLove · 16/12/2020 20:47

Darn my sweet tooth

Sooverthemill · 16/12/2020 20:57

@PusheenLove I'm lucky, I went off sweet things when pregnant the first time!

Sooverthemill · 04/01/2021 08:59

Anyone get any sale bargains?

purplegirl13 · 04/01/2021 14:55

I got these, will make a change from the next joggers I have been living in

NearWildHeaven · 05/01/2021 14:26

I am enjoying some of the "wardrobe review" threads and they're making me think about mine.

However, given how difficult it is to get things to fit I find that I keep things that are not brilliant because I'm not always sure I can fill the gap being petite.

Does anyone else do this too?

TooMinty · 05/01/2021 21:10

I got a nice green jumper from Arket and I'm waiting for a Superdry sweater dress to arrive 😊

VVKills27 · 05/01/2021 21:31

Hiya, I’m 5’2’’, size 10-12 (was 8-10 pre lockdown...) & want to be in the gang! My only tricks are buying 3/4 length jeans or jean culottes as they give just a very subtle cropped look on me. Nothing worse than overly long jeans concertinaing up your leg! I also live in midi dresses as they’re rarely midi on me, they’re full length. Places like H&M are fab for those style of dresses, often shirt dress style & suitable for all weather & occasions.

VVKills27 · 05/01/2021 21:32

I do appreciate I’m probably preaching to the converted but it took me 40 years of being short to figure this stuff out! ☺️

MargosKaftan · 05/01/2021 21:40

I've also found mid thigh / longer mini skirts for normal woman, sit just above my knee, and as I have nice knees, this is a very flattering length on me.

Ragtaggirl · 29/09/2021 20:35

Bump

Anybody found a nice winter parka?

ladywiththelibrary · 24/11/2022 04:43

@nickEcave Fellow shortie here. Have you tried doing a
half tuck? I hated tucking clothes especially after gaining weight around the mid section, I find the front tuck lengthens the leg without feeling like bundles of cotton smooshed in. :)
