General Impressions of me (includes Photos)

I've always hated my body. I feel like a giant whale. Always have. I feel like I can't trust the views of friends and family to give me honest opinions because weight always seems so taboo to be honest about. I don't want false compliments but genuine honesty. Do I look seriously fat? What's your opinion of me in these images?

I ordered some new boots, as seen in the images in the comments. I always struggle to get boots from normal high street & supermarket places as I have huge calves. I finally found a standard pair that fit from the high street. I was thrilled that I could get them over my calves but I don't think they look right. I carry the majority of my weight on my thighs and calves. I hate my legs so much. I'm 5ft 4 too.

I am trying to lose weight but it's not exactly a fast process.

Thoughts?

Try an outfit with these proportions. You have a great figure but it’s all about dressing it properly to emphasise your best features.

You're not big at all! I can fully sympathise with the boots though! I'm a size 10-12 and rarely find boots that can go over my calves - they're just very shapely. I'm also an hourglass figure, so maybe this is a common issue with certain body shapes.

Sorry for the aside, but I love the blue/green wall on your house!

Onekidnoclue · 06/10/2020 17:47

You’ve got a great figure. Boobs, a pert bum and a small waist. Try to enjoy it. X

bpirockin · 06/10/2020 17:48

I see a curvy figure that many people would love. I can also see how at 5'4" you might see yourself differently. As for the boots, they are lovely but I think that what you're wearing makes the proportions wrong. I'd suggest a short/fitted jumper or shirt to even things out. Even a shirt tucked in and with a nice belt.

We are often our own toughest critics, and maybe it would help to look at these photos as if they were of a friend. I doubt and hope that you would not be so harsh.

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 06/10/2020 17:49

You look like a perfectly normal, healthy woman. Nothing to worry over.

EugenesAxe · 06/10/2020 17:53

Genuinely I think you’re being harsh on yourself. Although I can agree that losing a little weight wouldn’t hurt, your body looks pretty toned and nicely defined, especially your “problem” thighs. Your bum looks fine.

Lose weight for yourself but I don’t think you look awful and you should stop thinking yourself ‘a whale’.

EastonSarah · 06/10/2020 17:54

I think your legs look good in photos 2 and 3.

You need to accentuate your waist as others have said. A nice v dress or shirt dress would look great on you. Perhaps something like this:

Crimblecrumble1990 · 06/10/2020 17:55

You go in and out which is lovely. I'm an apple shape and would love to have a clear bust-waist-hips differentiation.

Agree with others that the boots are the wrong length and seem to cut you off right at your knees. Perhaps a little shorter or ankle boots would work better.

Whatthebloodyell · 06/10/2020 18:00

You have a fab figure. You are lucky to have boobs, a waist and a bum! I have none of those things. As a teen I was a skinny stick, and the envy of my friends. Now
I’m a fat rectangle! I’m actually happier being a little fat than overly skinny, but man I wish I had your waist! You look great in the first outfit, but the second top is not at all flattering for you. I think you’d look great in a dress, dresses are ‘in’ right now and different styles are everywhere. A wrap style would suit you.

Ironmanrocks · 06/10/2020 18:02

nice arse...

siddlydiddly · 06/10/2020 18:03

You are not fat, you have a lovely figure. I'm feeling quite envious of you at the moment, I would love your figure and well done for your weight loss, it's not easy!

user191264 · 06/10/2020 18:05

Personally I think the boots look awful... you however, look amazing!

Susannahmoody · 06/10/2020 18:15

You are wearing completely the wrong clothes for your body type.

As people say, you need to show off your waist. Those boots are not flattering, they're too narrow.

The t-shirts that you are wearing need to be a better colour and longer sleeves.

Even if you just tucked in that beige t-shirt with the leggings you'd look slimmer.

DaisyCrazyLazy · 06/10/2020 18:17

How tall are you and what do you weigh if you don't mind me asking? You look great. Good waist and good legs. Ditch those boots though as they make your legs look big at the top. Ankle boots with a low heel would be loads better.

JenniferSantoro · 06/10/2020 18:27

You look great. Looks like you wear clothes that are too big for you, which actually makes you look bigger than you actually are. You are not big at all. 💐

MountainPeakGeek · 06/10/2020 18:32

As a teen I was a skinny stick, and the envy of my friends. Now
I’m a fat rectangle!
- Yep, I can relate to that statement sooo much!

OP, you look fantastic and have a fabulous figure, but ditch those boots - they're not good. That's not because of your legs - they're just ugly boots!

Maddison12 · 06/10/2020 18:33

Not loving the boots, to be honest I've always thought knee boots suit taller people more, on the other hand I 100% agree with a pp who said:

Those boots would look better with another longer layer, eg, a longer cardigan to break up the space between the end of your t-shirt and the top of your boots.

No idea why you hate your body, you don't look overweight at all and you have a gorgeous figure (I'm an honest person, promiseSmile)

TheoneandObi · 06/10/2020 18:33

It's been said but I notice that you're quite hourglass. But you're hiding it. Classic mistake. You should show off that waist!

zoemum2006 · 06/10/2020 18:33

I am a 5ft 4 hour glass shape who carries the majority of her weight on her thighs.

I have a love/ hate relationship with my shape.

Everything I wear goes in at the waist (which is small like yours) otherwise I feel super frumpy.

I wouldn’t wear such a high neck collar (No no for bigger boobed women) and I wouldn’t wear leggings (tailored trousers would flatter better).

You’ve got a great figure - you just need to believe it!

MountainPeakGeek · 06/10/2020 18:34

Damn, my attempt at bolding Whatthebloodyell's quote didn't work.

TheoneandObi · 06/10/2020 18:34

Not a fan generally of high boots though. Unless perhaps worn with a floaty midi dress

ScribblingMilly · 06/10/2020 18:38

No, not fat. You look great, OP, except for those rotten boots. What about a biker boot-type style?

Nutellalovesme · 06/10/2020 18:39

I don't think you are anywhere near fat.
The first thing I noticed was your waist, you look like you have an hourglass figure.

Very envious Smile

Badger2033 · 06/10/2020 18:46

You’re not fat - I’d say average and you look great! Boots doing nothing for you though.

Wester · 06/10/2020 18:50

Definitely research dressing for your figure.

A wrap dress would be so much more flattering.

The long length boots also make you look ultra short.

Be happy with how you look (naked) jk IST get better at being dressed :)
