Hello!
Due to a change of wedding plans I’m looking for a fabulous dress to get married in, hopefully on the beach, in December, in Scotland - just the two of us. I’m having another more weddingy dress made which will be used for a big party next year - an Angelina Colarusso design. I don’t want to spend a huge amount as the other dress is expensive - maybe up to £5-600. I love the idea of a colour - green/blue and something that will waft gracefully in the force 10 hurricane we’ll most likely have on the day Grin. I’m 5’9” and size 14/16. Short waisted so prefer no waistbands. You lot were so helpful in persuading me to go with the “main” dress and I’m hoping the fab S&B bunch will come up trumps with a stunning, wafty number!

@Packlunchhell I’m not in Scotland, bridal shops near me are just completely OTT

😂😂 I am getting on

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 06/10/2020 20:08

I don't go to a muff shop Shock my muff is artisan! Grin

I did just google wedding muff (with one eye closed just in case) and they do have them on Etsy.

Genuinely without labouring the point though, a seamstress would be able to run you up a cloak and matching muff in ten minutes.

And now I can't stop saying muff. Muff! MUFF!!!!

Squiz81 · 06/10/2020 20:55

Maragaret Thatcher went for a blue dress with matching muff for her wedding day! (This May not endear you to muffs)

Is that someone actually fondling Maggie’s muff? 😱

I can’t have a muff as I need to get the ring on my finger before he changes his mind and if my hand is stuck in my muff it would be awkward

@Lonny MUFF! 😬 I have a cloak on the way from somewhere. It’s the blue one earlier in the thread that people made me get. I’ve got to get something stunning to go with it - not just socks. If I wear ivory will I look like nursey?

Ooh exciting, I didn't realise you'd taken the plunge!

Blue and ivory can be very beautiful, it all depends on the shades. That sort of almost champagney colour with a softer dark blue would be lovely. But very white ivory with royal blue might be a bit too harsh/contrasty.

You won't look like nursey though, we'll all stand firm against a wimple Wink

WouldBeGood · 07/10/2020 07:49

I like your no muff reasoning 😂

What about a soft gold colour with the blue?

Candleabra · 07/10/2020 08:04

Loving this thread. My favourite is the Catherine Deane grey/green dress. Would be gorgeous with your cloak. Your wedding sounds wonderful.

LadyEloise · 07/10/2020 10:09

Has anyone bought from jjshouse ?
Their dresses look lovely.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 07/10/2020 11:12

This champagne colour would go lovely with your blue cape

Ooh, @CoffeeBeansGalore that’s gorgeous!

Phwooooar · 07/10/2020 11:37

@CoffeeBeans lovely dress but it’s too similar to the one I’m having made for my cancelled wedding - you can see the pic upthread.

waftage ! Job beautifully done - stop looking you have found your dress ( signed - Random Person From The Internet Grin ) Possibly a cashmere ballerina type cardinal to go over it for warmth on the beach ? )

Seriously, I think it is stunning & just the ticket for the beach Flowers

Phwooooar · 07/10/2020 11:51

OMG just found these too - not good for sheep poo and sand but amazing wedding boots (even if my style is quite conservative!) and made to measure|!

Another blue dress fan here

Phwooooar · 07/10/2020 11:54

@Basilisk yes it’s fab - even for an older person like me with boobage - BUT it’s not on Etsy - was a random find on Pinterest and I’d have to find someone to make it

OP posts:
Candleabra · 07/10/2020 12:14

Yes I like the latest blue dress too.

BasiliskStare · 07/10/2020 12:17

There are apparently clever people who can do a sort of reverse find by putting a photograph up and searching the internet. Or could you find a blue slip dress and then all you need do is find someone to recreate the chiffony bits for over the top. I cannot believe there is not an answer to getting you that dress. It is perfect IMHO ( I realise you have some minor input into this whole thing yourself )
