Please help me find a Scotland elopement wedding dress....!

Hello!
Due to a change of wedding plans I’m looking for a fabulous dress to get married in, hopefully on the beach, in December, in Scotland - just the two of us. I’m having another more weddingy dress made which will be used for a big party next year - an Angelina Colarusso design. I don’t want to spend a huge amount as the other dress is expensive - maybe up to £5-600. I love the idea of a colour - green/blue and something that will waft gracefully in the force 10 hurricane we’ll most likely have on the day Grin. I’m 5’9” and size 14/16. Short waisted so prefer no waistbands. You lot were so helpful in persuading me to go with the “main” dress and I’m hoping the fab S&B bunch will come up trumps with a stunning, wafty number!

Re boob support - a halter neck bikini top with a tie back is a good option as you can pull the ties down lower at the back.

To keep warm, how about something like this? www.etsy.com/uk/listing/842454914/isle-of-skye-tartan-outlandish-shawl?gpla=1&gao=1&
@Princess - thank you! Just hope I get to wear it one day [and that I can still fit into it after lockdown snacking..]. The cloak isn’t going to arrive. I had to cancel it as it wasn’t going to arrive in time. So I haven’t got an outer layer Shock. My mum has offered my grandmother’s vintage mink cape and whilst I’m happy to wear vintage fur that belonged to my grandmother I’m not sure if I want to get eggs or worse thrown at me
Nobody will throw eggs at you, the likelihood of that happening to a wedding party in Scotland on a beach in December is vanishingly small. Anti fur campaigners don’t go around with pockets full of eggs on the off chance and most of the very activist ones are more likely to be doing that sort of thing at Paris Fashion week or whatever.
Wear the vintage mink and don’t give it another thought. People not up close will probably assume it’s fake.

Phwooooar · 10/11/2020 08:14

@Cheetas 🤣 that conjures up a hilarious image - pockets full of eggs! You're right - there's hardly going to be anyone around.

I had a backless dress (34E) and wore Brassy Bra they have a lot of good YouTube content to give you an idea how they'll hold different sizes.

Phwooooar · 10/11/2020 12:13

@floofy does this actually work? No wibbly wobbly bits going on? I’ve heard dire things about stick on bras

This will flap around all over the place.

Cape!!

PrincessForADay · 10/11/2020 21:11

Ultimo did very low backed lingerie years ago, may end worth trying that?

floofycroissant · 11/11/2020 18:32

@Phwooooar yes they're the only ones that worked for me, I wore them all day. You get a 3 pairs to play with. And they have tutorials on how to cut them to fit your desired shape/silhouette. I wore them for a solid 12-14 hours despite the maximum being advertised as 8h. Take a look at the applications videos here

floofycroissant · 11/11/2020 18:34

I mean, I wouldn't have gone for a jog in them Grin but I felt comfortable and confident enough to walk down the aisle in front of 60 people

Phwooooar · 12/11/2020 10:55

@waltzingparrot now that would be perfection 🤣
Surely can’t be real? How on earth did she iron that?

@floofy I’ve had a look at YouTube and OMG they’re sexy. You wouldn’t want anyone to catch a glimpse of you in those Grin

@ittooshallpass now that would have made a fab outfit but I already have the dress/es. Just looking for an outer covering. The boots I’m still dithering over just because I love them but they’re really not my style and am probably over thinking it. Besides I’ll have to wear wellies or something to walk down to the beach

I love this thread! I was married over at Loch Lomond at the start of February a few years ago. I originally had a long dress which I had altered into tea length, I have some beautiful pictures on the beaches and down by the water with the snowy hills behind me. It was utterly BALTIC but I loved it!

Phwooooar · 12/11/2020 13:12

@Crochet ooooh let’s see your dress pics. What did you wear to stop your nips dropping off with frostbite??

What could be a better introduction to married life for DH than helping you oil (yes they're removed with oil) and peel off your boob stickers on the first night? Grin

Phwooooar · 12/11/2020 18:48

@floofy oh you’re really selling them to me now. Any particular kind of oil? Olive? Coconut? Chilli? What did you use? Grin

To keep was thankfifi style with leather trousers underneath!

LadyEloise · 15/11/2020 15:17

@Phwooooar
I'm not sure whether you got the cape thing sorted but Lacorine do beautiful alpaca trimmed cashmere capes. There is one in white i think. It would be stunning and so warm. You could sell it then to the next mad bride getting married on a beach in winter in Scotland.
I'm sorry I can't do links. Perhaps a nice Mumsnetter will oblige.
When I win the lotto I'm buying one ( not white though ).

LadyEloise · 15/11/2020 15:21

It's called the Kusi cape in winter white.
The butter gold colour is the one I love.

BasiliskStare · 15/11/2020 17:03

@Phwooooar and @waltzingparrot - Oh the waft on that !

So glad you are getting there Phwooar - if we had all known you would just buy fifty billion dresses we could have relaxed slightly Wink - but so pleased you are going for the blue one

All very very best Flowers
