I don't like my lip fillers, my top lip turns up! :(

I had my lips enhanced and when the practitioner asked what I'd like, I said I wanted them notably bigger.

I was happy with the volume but not the technique. They looked nice from the front but stupid from the side.

In order to give the illusion of fuller lips they positioned one of the injections so that it turned my top lip upwards! Sad

Please tell me my side profile will return to normal? It has been about 4.5 months since having the procedure and although the volume of my lips is reducing, the top lip still turns upwards.

How many ml did you get OP?

RunningFromInsanity · 22/09/2020 13:34

Ah OP, we all make beauty mistakes!
Luckily yours isn’t permanent, and can be easily (if costly) to fix.

IHateCoronavirus · 22/09/2020 13:37

Your original lips were beautiful op.
You said you had some sort of a breakdown following the birth of DD. Did you receive any help/counselling for that?
When you envisaged having fuller lips, how did you imagine they would enhance your life?

Plussizejumpsuit · 22/09/2020 13:38

@DerbyshireGirly

Don't all lip fillers look like that? You see it everywhere at the moment.
No I really don't think they have to. I just think lots of people like that look! People on here act like fillers have to look awful. I worked with somone who had.0. 5ml in and she just had nice plum lips. Think it goes with the trend for visably fake lashes, nails, contouring bums and boobs.
Lipdissapointment · 22/09/2020 13:40

Thank you for the kind comments, I much prefer my lips how they were before too.

I'm a little taken aback and disheartened to read that for some people they never return to their pre-filled shape.

I'll definitely have to have them dissolved then it seems.

My partner thought I was bonkers to have wanted them in the first place. I've seen some women look beautiful with enhanced lips but that hasn't been the case for me.

We'll see what the clinic says. Hopefully they're nice about it. I'm the least confrontational person and really hate having to deal with things like this.

dollyknocker · 22/09/2020 13:42

Sadly this is what happens when people are allowed to inject after very little training. They really shouldn't ever look like that from the side. They've injected way too much filler in the wrong place.

Get it dissolved and get your natural lips back, sweetheart. Chalk it up to experience and move on. Xx

Lipdissapointment · 22/09/2020 13:44

I had 1.5ml (I know, I know) Sad

RE my postpartum breakdown, I have since had counselling yes. I'm doing much better now and as such wouldn't dream of making such drastic changes to my face/body but that has come too little too late.

I had a horrific birth and had to spend quite a while in hospital, once i had recovered physically I wanted to reinvent myself, that was a maladaptive coping mechanism.

peachgreen · 22/09/2020 13:46

Och OP I really feel for you. I chopped all my hair off - myself! - after my traumatic birth so I absolutely understand the impulse. I'm sure they'll go back to normal (and lovely!) once you have it dissolved.

Heffalooomia · 22/09/2020 13:53

Can you phone the clinic initially and have some things written down in terms of what you want to say to them?
Of course it feels tricky because it's your face, you already feel uncomfortable and and as if you can't really trust them 🤦🏼‍♀️

reservoircats · 22/09/2020 13:57

@Lipdissapointment everyone makes mistakes. If it makes you feel any better some of my filler migrated above my lip and I had to have it dissolved, now I only get 0.5ml a time.

Danni91 · 22/09/2020 14:02

I had my lips filled and not one person has noticed 😆 other than my partner and eldest because they saw me all swollen straight after. I massively noticed though! I afterall had been staring at my wonky thin top lip for all my life.

Which is exactly what i asked for & got.

A more even top lip, slightly bigger bottom lip and a more enhanced cupids bow to level out the wonkiness.

I am happy with them. I still feel sketchy about next time though, which will have to come eventually.

You should get them dissolved and then redone somewhere else, or don't - your lips look fine before!

Why didnt you like them beforehand?

Miseryisabutterfly · 22/09/2020 14:04

Oh gosh op, you poor thing. You looked lovely before, I’m sad for you that you felt you needed it done. Hopefully you can get them dissolved soon and feel happier.

chubbyhotchoc · 22/09/2020 14:08

All lip fillers do not look like that at all. I had mine done and whilst I've decided I won't have them done again they didn't look like that. Op don't stress. Just get them dissolved. Do you know the product that was used? You don't have to go to the same place if you've lost faith in them

12309845653ghydrvj · 22/09/2020 14:10

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the shape, I think you might have just gone bigger than your face can take? I have to say I’ve seen plenty of well-done lip fillers but never huge and well-done, I think it’s the same with boobs too—people going large when their body frame can’t take it.

You look gorgeous and glamorous!! You could get them done .5, or maybe get your eyelashes done if you want a treat? Always makes me feel very glam!

chubbyhotchoc · 22/09/2020 14:11

Also I had mine done last September and I think the last of it was gone by summer.

Lipdissapointment · 22/09/2020 14:12

The thing is I didn't even dislike my lips beforehand, it wasn't an insecurity I had about them being thin or anything like that.

The reason I had them done Is because I just thought fuller lips would compliment my face.

I have quite a distinct look about me having inherited my mother's prominent Italian nose and I thought fuller lips would balance everything out a bit.

The balancing my features was only ever a potential bonus, wanting fuller lips was the goal in itself.

They look bad op,sorry. The person who did them must not be very qualified.

Atalune · 22/09/2020 14:17

Have you ruled out an allergic reaction? Not to add to your troubles Flowers

Lipdissapointment · 22/09/2020 14:18

The practitioners are definitely qualified.

If you looked through their portfolio you'd never guess they had done mine. They specialise in subtle results.

I do think I have myself to blame for this because I was adamant I wanted significantly bigger lips, although if I had been shown a 'before and after' of this technique I would have said no.

When he mentioned the specifically placed injection to give the illusion of bigger lips I just had no idea that would mean my lips turn upwards like this.

OP posts:
CeibaTree · 22/09/2020 14:20

Aww OP, don't feel bad - you are getting it sorted now. Hopefully the clinic will get back to you soon with an appointment. Sorry to hear you had a horrific birth, I hope you are well on the way to recovery from that now.

Lipdissapointment · 22/09/2020 14:20

I'm %100 sure I haven't had an allergic reaction Smile

I healed as I was supposed to, no other unpleasant side effects. It's just the shape that they are.

I don't know how to tag but to the lady who had to have their filler dissolved due to migration, did your top lip return to normal completely?

Atalune · 22/09/2020 14:21

If you press the @Lipdissapointment @ button you should get a drop down for names.

Has this thread made you feel a bit better?

Londonborncatty · 22/09/2020 14:21

Get them dissolved and just put it behind you. They are not what you envisioned but we all make mistakes. You look to be a beautiful young women and it’s surprising that usually what we got naturally, suits us best.
No need to be embarrassed, you tried it, you didn’t like it. That’s all.

Lipdissapointment · 22/09/2020 14:23

Thank you (and too everybody else too)

I do feel a bit better for posting. I've been silently seething for a while and kicking myself. It's nice to be able to offload here and not be ripped to shreds.

I can imagine the response I would get from AIBU. I'm hoping this doesn't come up in trending.

OP, you are a lily and no guilding is necessary🌺
