I don't like my lip fillers, my top lip turns up! :(

I had my lips enhanced and when the practitioner asked what I'd like, I said I wanted them notably bigger.

I was happy with the volume but not the technique. They looked nice from the front but stupid from the side.

In order to give the illusion of fuller lips they positioned one of the injections so that it turned my top lip upwards! Sad

Please tell me my side profile will return to normal? It has been about 4.5 months since having the procedure and although the volume of my lips is reducing, the top lip still turns upwards.

Also, have you thought about the longterm effects of your lips being constantly stretched in that way? It probably isn't very good for your collagen!

dollypartonscoat · 22/09/2020 19:23

Wear a mask to collect your son if you want to

The clinic should not have been doing lip fillers on that date!

Lipdissapointment · 22/09/2020 19:35

I'm not in the north east unfortunately but thank you for the offer of recommendation.

I will be wearing a mask in future when I go to collect my son so that's that embarrassment sorted.

I hadn't thought of the long term effects no, I wasn't in a great place when I wanted fillers so didn't give it much consideration. Massive lesson learned and hopefully it's not beyond fixing.

The clinic didn't bother to contact me so I think that tells me everything I need to know doesn't it.

I've read that lip fillers dissolve overtime, usually around 6 months so you're heading towards that if you had them done in June? Have they reduced at all?

To speed up the process more, you can regularly massage the area and do mouth exercises. Filler dissolves quicker in areas that move a lot. I mean it won't be instant, but worth a try!

The actual process of dissolving filler chemically is fascinating to watch. I looked at a couple of clips on YouTube and the lips literally deflate before your eyes.

SmileyClare · 22/09/2020 20:37

Good luck with your interview. I'd suggest wearing no lipstick or just a matt neutral one. Maybe practice what you're going to say in the mirror, your lips are not grotesque or anything and you are attractive anyway. Aim to look neat and professional with quite a natural look, e.g. natural eyebrows, no fake tan etc.

If you avoid drawing attention to them you'll be fine. So avoid covering them when you speak or touching them.
Get out and about and you'll soon realise that the sky won't fall in just because your lips look a bit different. A lot of people won't even notice or care. Smile

blisstwins · 22/09/2020 20:38

Your lips will not be permanently affected. I am in the US and it is so common here. I had it done once, hated it, had it dissolved. A few years later I got a small amount and love it. It is a minor thing and the filler is not silicone. OP wear a mask, massage your lips (good advice), and this will pass. You are just very self conscious at the moment.

Redcups64 · 22/09/2020 20:41

For them to be notably fuller, that is what the side profile would look like, otherwise how would you get them fuller?

They do look silly, if you like that sort of thing then fine, but maybe you should try just having normally lips for a while. It’s always so so obvious if people have had work done...and not for good reasons really

SmileyClare · 22/09/2020 20:57

It might be best just to phone the clinic and make an appointment for your filler to be dissolved. You can discuss having it free of charge (because you were unhappy with lip turning up) when you get there can't you?

Worst case scenario, you have to pay. I think I would if it was affecting my confidence so much even though £100 is a lot to me. They may offer some sort of agreement where you pay in a few instalments?

I would try to contact them again, by phone this time. It is possible your area will tighten up covid restrictions or go into local lockdown meaning they may shut the clinic. Don't delay!

blisstwins · 22/09/2020 20:59

These are my lips a day or two after they are done, so some swelling from injection. If you know what you are looking for you can probably tell, but not really. I spent my life self conscious about my lips. It was not debilitating, but getting them done twice a year is self care in my opinion. It makes me happy and there is nothing wrong with that. Everyone has been so harsh to op. People wear makeup, color their grays, it is not a big deal.

I don't like my lip fillers, my top lip turns up! :(
SmileyClare · 22/09/2020 21:31

I agree people have been harsh. Particularly when you are too self conscious to face people at the moment. Your lips are not that bad, we're hardly talking bride of Widenstein. From a distance they wouldn't be that noticeable.
Be kind to yourself Op.

Lipdissapointment · 22/09/2020 22:27

I suspect but can't prove that the reason they're not getting back to me is that they've got wind of me talking negatively about them online.

This isn't the first time I've spoken about this on the online, but is my first thread about it here.

I've never named the company but somebody seemed to have an idea who I was referring to and may have relayed back to them.

I never said anything that wasn't true and you can all see the results for yourself in my pictures but I wouldn't be surprised if the lack of response is a silent 'fuck you' iykwim.

They’re probably seeking advice from their insurers or solicitors before getting back to you! Did you send them photos?

How did you pay? If by card, you can open a chargeback with your bank. If credit card, you may also be eligible for section 75 protection. Failing that, you still can take them to court. You’re not stuck, you do have options. Why don’t you call the citizen’s advice bureau in the morning to explore your options if they ignore you?

I think it’s highly likely you would get the £100 spent on dissolving the filler back, as it’s clear the filler has been placed poorly. Your filler isn’t necessarily in your lips even, it’s past the vermillion border. Certain side effects can be unavoidable with lip filler eg non visible lumps, whereas this just shouldn’t happen with proper technique

TerribleCustomerCervix · 22/09/2020 22:42

OP you’ve had some bloody harsh comments on here, and some pp should be taking a look at why they feel the need to kick someone when they’re down.

I don’t think they look that bad- there are some people who strive for that particular look so it’s not unusual to see.

Please don’t feel embarrassed- I’ve never had fillers or anything but I don’t see what’s happened with your lips as any different to getting a hair cut you aren’t fond of or getting a dodgy fake tan. These things happen!

Pinkfrangipani · 22/09/2020 22:50

Hi OP,
Sorry you have had to experience this.
Injecting more than 1ml in a sitting is not appropriate and should not be done.
The 'ledge' type look of your upper lip is sometimes seen weeks after the appointment where filler has been placed incorrectly and migrated.
Was your practitioner a medical professional or a beautician?
A medical professional will be registered with their professional body and therefore be accountable for their work.
If it is a beautician, the accountability is unfortunately not there.
@lhmua12 maybe more clued up on what outcomes you can expect depending on the type of practitioner used.

Lipdissapointment · 22/09/2020 22:59

Thank you ladies for the sound advice, I'm taking notes!

I will definitely contact CAB if I don't hear back from them within a day or two more.

My practitioner is a medical professional, astoundingly. Professional clinic. Qualifications. The lot.

lhmua12 · 22/09/2020 23:02

In that case, they are most likely seeking legal advice before responding to you. I reckon their advisers would tell them to dissolve it without charge as currently they’re on shaky ground as you have a valid complaint.

please keep us updated

Lipdissapointment · 22/09/2020 23:07

Thank you lhmua you've been very helpful, as have the rest of you here. I appreciate it.

I will definitely update.

MoltonSilver · 22/09/2020 23:07

You have absolutely nothing to feel embarrassed about. They provided a service, the same as any other service, and you are not happy with the results. There is nothing wrong with going back to them.

Pinkfrangipani · 22/09/2020 23:10

Absolutely they should dissolve without charge. They should not even need to be advised on this!
If they are not going to dissolve them for your benefit, you would think they would do so for the reputation of their clinic.

Pinkfrangipani · 22/09/2020 23:11

Good luck OP and yes do keep us posted.

MillieOhNair · 22/09/2020 23:30

Beauty salons didn’t open until 13 July. They were operating illegally.

Toontown · 22/09/2020 23:37

I used to work in a place doing fillers. Lots of people came back to have the work undone. Most people looked worse after than before sadly.

Heffalooomia · 22/09/2020 23:42

😲 Was that because the practitioners did poor quality work?
Prisonbreak · 22/09/2020 23:51

I think all fillers look like that. I would dissolve asap
