I don't like my lip fillers, my top lip turns up! :(

I had my lips enhanced and when the practitioner asked what I'd like, I said I wanted them notably bigger.

I was happy with the volume but not the technique. They looked nice from the front but stupid from the side.

In order to give the illusion of fuller lips they positioned one of the injections so that it turned my top lip upwards! Sad

Please tell me my side profile will return to normal? It has been about 4.5 months since having the procedure and although the volume of my lips is reducing, the top lip still turns upwards.

When I have them dissolved they will only dissolve the injectable filler won't they? i mean.

Excuse my typos.

Your opening sentence @lhmua12

Jesus Christ. Genuinely some of the worst lips I’ve seen.

Bit much really.

Lipdissapointment · 22/09/2020 16:11

It stung a little but I expected comments like that as I know they look bad.

I'm pleasantly surprised by the kindness I've received on the post thank you ladies.

I will give an update if and when I hear from the clinic again, wish me luck.

Fair enough, I’m sorry if I offended the Op. I should explain my positioning better. I have lip fillers myself so I am not against getting anything done.

I have also been involved with medical negligence claims against dermal filler practitioners as part of my job. Here is a clear case of bad work, I have explained why above. I just found it odd that posters are suggesting that OP is unreasonable to be unhappy with the results as the practitioner gave her exactly what she asked for - as if all filler apparently looks like this. It’s a perpetuation of a negative stereotype. It comes across as sneery, as if she got her just desserts for getting filler in first place? Whereas in my view, OP’s concerns are absolutely valid - filler is not supposed to look like this and the practitioner should be offering a remedy.

She has a valid complaint. The practitioner should have fixed this by now - having poorly administered filler can wreak havoc on your self esteem. Fight this OP - you are protected under the consumer rights act, let alone with a med negligence claim.

Not how lip fillers should actually look if done by an expert who values a natural aesthetic. Not sure where you are but check out Dr Harris on insta. He’s in North London I think but does loads of remedial work on duck lips. You are right to not want them to look like that. I’d suggest getting sorted by a remedial expert NOT the clinic that thinks that’s ok. Good luck Smile

If you are too embarrassed to do drop offs and pick ups at your son's nursery, could you do that in a mask? It wouldn't be that out of the ordinary!

It's a real shame if you're not getting out and about because of this. That in itself will start making you feel down.
Hopefully you'll look back on this and laugh. They will go down in time even if not chemically dissolved. Flowers

Lipdissapointment · 22/09/2020 16:35

I've just had a look at Dr Harris' page and website. His work is brilliant but I just don't have that kind of money at the minute.

I could scrape together £100 if I tightened my belt in every other area (that's what my previous clinic charges for dissolving) but much more than that I can't afford.

It's interesting that you think I could have a claim mua, that makes me feel vindicated in a way because I've been blaming myself for wanting big lips in the first place.

I wouldn't want to do anything like take them to court, I just want them to be sorted out.

I have a strong feeling it's not going to be an easy one though, I'll be very surprised if they don't charge me to dissolve them.

OP, wear a mask to pick your son up if you want. Its a great time for it really!

I think what they should of explained to you is that nice big lips cant happen instantly, the best results will come from topping up an extra 5ml every few months when they can study your face at each fill to keep you as natural looking as possible.

I know you made a mistake asking for noticable, but he made a mistake because he should of explained properly just what notable looks like going from A to Z in 1 go.

Stop being so hard on yourself. You have what looks like lovely hair, skin, figure & dress sense, people wont stone you for your lips if you do the school run!

Get them dissolved its probably much more common than you think. Even at my original consultation for mine she told me come back any time if i was not happy or wanted it dissolved, then my second and then when i actually had it done. I was super nervous of it going wrong. Although she never mentioned a price for it (i should check that for the future!)

Lipdissapointment · 22/09/2020 16:39

I could actually wear a mask to collect my son yes, that's a good idea.

I've been using a clear visor when shopping as I really don't like the masks but I could tolerate one for a few minutes twice a week definitely :)

@Lipdissapointment you DO have a valid claim. Perhaps ring a solicitor for a free consultation and see what they advise. The only reason why a solicitor wouldn’t take your case is that their fees might take up a significant % of your award, but they can still give you advice on how to handle this independently.

Totickleamockingbird · 22/09/2020 16:55

Don’t be so hard on yourself. Get them dissolved though. You had great lips before (I love the colour of your lipstick!). Hope it goes well and you get the result you want.

Lipdissapointment · 22/09/2020 17:00

I've just had a call offering me an interview for a job I applied for, a lovely surprise as I wasn't expected to hear back but now I'm faced with having to go to it with botched lips.

It doesn't make a good impression does it. Do you ladies think looking like this will put me at a disadvantage? There are other candidates.

great link, thanks!

Buggedandconfused · 22/09/2020 17:23

I probably wouldn’t go for the interview until they are dissolved OP. Can you say you are self isolating for 2 weeks?

Danni91 · 22/09/2020 17:24

Op - go to your interview. Yikes dont let it ruin your life

SayWhatTheWhatNow · 22/09/2020 17:27

1.5ml all at once? No injector should agree to that on someone they have never seen before?

SayWhatTheWhatNow · 22/09/2020 17:30

And they definitely should not have been injecting in June! Hairdressers and beauticians were not allowed to open until July and even then not treat the face region!

Yummyplainscones · 22/09/2020 17:34

You made a mistake when you were at a low ebb OP don’t be so hard on yourself. But equally the clinic didn’t fully explain that you might end up with the duck effect on the side profile.
I hope the dissolving works and they soon go back to normal. I agree they should not charge you for this.
You look beautiful in your before picture and you will look like that again.

blisstwins · 22/09/2020 17:43

Omg, Poor OP, everyone is piling up on you. It’s as if no one ever had a haircut or color they did not like. Your lips will return to normal and no one is going to stare at you from the side. Don’t go back there, but laugh. This is not the end of the world and someday you will laugh.

Choosingmyring · 22/09/2020 17:44

People constantly saying all fillers look ridiculous and noticeable. That’s only the bad ones!

I don’t have them btw but surely unless you want a certain look the whole point should be that they look natural and like they could be your own lips? Some people do have naturally very full lips.

Lipdissapointment · 22/09/2020 17:53

My partner has very full lips and he looks wonderful, as do alot of other people I've seen with bigger lips (both natural or enhanced) it's just mine I think are terrible.

I'm sure some will think I've got what I deserve for messing about with my face and that's ok, I know it's not something everybody approves of.

It's actually not uncommon for people to be able to get 1.5 or 2ml injected in one sitting. I've spent a bit of time looking around so I had something to compare my own lips to and can see alot of clinics do offer 1.5+

With regards to them reopening in June, they put out a post in late May saying they had been given the go ahead to open so I assumed that was the case.

I will go to my interview. They don't look as extreme from the front if not up close like in the photo. I'm not going to be in a customer facing role anyway so hopefully they're not too put off. I'm thinking a nude coloured lipstick will make them a bit less 'in your face'

Still waiting to hear back from the clinic Hmm

Exactly she should go. Don’t miss the opportunity.
SayWhatTheWhatNow · 22/09/2020 19:08

I've worked with many injectors over the years and not one would inject more than a ml in one treatment.
I'm not blaming you at all, you haven't been treated correctly at all. I hope you can get them sorted. I can recommend someone if you are near North East.

EarthSight · 22/09/2020 19:21

Most lip fillers look like that when you start adding too much in. It's just a consequence of stuffing things there that shouldn't be.

Also, maybe people have different lips and some might not be able to handle a higher quantity of filler without instantly turning up like that.

Don't be embarrassed. Just say you've changed your mind.
