Empty: 10ml of Barbara Sturm eye cream. I wasn't wowed. Won't be repurchasing.

louisethedisease · 30/10/2020 07:43

@ememem84 the camomile face cleansing balm is amazing, I tried it thanks to Caroline Hirons recommendation and I will definitely repurchase in the future.

BookSkark · 31/10/2020 13:28

A few empties from my side.
Clarins Multi-Active Day - I quite like this and have bought the full size before - not exciting to look at, but a nice texture.
ReVive facial wash - I think this came from the Harvey Nichols GWP as it's not a brand I recognise. Really liked it and would buy again if it weren't so expensive.
Patisserie de Bain body lotion - no idea where this came from, but it was awful. So runny that I accidentally tipped it all over the place the first time I used it. Glad to be rid of it.
Body Shop Vanilla EDT - I liked the scent, but it didn't seem to last. That said, it was years old, so that may be why. Wouldn't buy again, as there are nicer perfumes out there.

Finished a sample size Nuxe gel moisturiser, not keen as prefer a richer moisturiser despite having combination skin. Nice scent though.

TeatimeAtCloppa · 31/10/2020 19:31

@DeciduousPerennial

Beauty Pie plantastic moisturising balm thing - the moisturiser from the plantastic range.

It’s been an absolute chore. Definitely not a repurchase - I ended up finishing it on the back of my neck/between my shoulders where I get sore, dry skin, and on my legs.

Now moving on to Lumene minis from a freebie tin I got when I bought a full size tinted serum last year.

Ugh I know what you mean. I have the Plantastic Oil and I really don't enjoy using it. The bottle never seems to get any emptier either.😭 Next shower I have I am just going to use it as a body oil. I really didn't like Beauty Pie very much. There is simply no way the items cost as much as they said they did. I cancelled as soon as I was able.

DeciduousPerennial · 31/10/2020 21:32

@TeatimeAtCloppa I’m also working my way through (painfully slowly) the plantastic cleansing balm. So boring. Don’t get me wrong, it does the job as expected, but for the RRP I was expecting something special. Instead I’m not convinced it’s really even worth the members’ price, and there’s no enjoyment in using it because it’s so utterly serviceable and functional. I’ll finish it but it’s a chore.

DeciduousPerennial · 31/10/2020 21:33

Is there any joy in using it though? And I’m somewhat dubious about the synthetic wax. I just want a cleansing balm that doesn’t cost the earth but has a bit of enjoyment about it!

Babysharkdoodoodood · 01/11/2020 02:02

@DeciduousPerennial I got the M &S Pure Rose balm after Sali Hughes recommended it. It's so lovely. Smells wonderful and makes my skin (rose) petal soft.

TeatimeAtCloppa · 01/11/2020 08:00

Deciduous yes you're spot on. There is no joy in using it. Just slap it on and that's it. One thing I love about beauty products is the appeal to the senses...the luxurious smell, the feel on the skin, the beauty of the presentation. The Plantastic range, although perfectly adequate, just doesn't do anything emotionally. (That must sound so weird).

The cleansing balm I think I have most enjoyed using is the Elemis one. I just love how deep the scent of the essential oils is. I also quite liked Aurelia Miracle Cleanser.

That sounds gorgeous. I always find rose quite a strange one....in some products I dislike the smell but in others I find it really lovely. The Jo Loves White Rose and Lemon candle for example is my absolute favourite. Yet the Rose hand cream from Body Shop is horrible.

WellTidy · 01/11/2020 08:18

For anyone who likes rose (and I know I am enabling here!) the Fiona Cairns rose range in Waitrose is really lovely. I bought the rose bath foam, which is about a fiver for 500ml, and it is gorgeous.

Caggie09 · 01/11/2020 09:33

I dont need anymore cleansing balms, but might pick up the M&S Rose one, sounds divine!

I ended up buying the SpaceNK GWP, which knocked me £260. The gift was amazing though! Popped some of it in an advent, so ive got some excitement in December. They emailed to let me know im £300 away from being a Deluxe memberBlush Then i bought one of the kits Caroline Hirons does, i wasnt going to get it, but i thought sod it🙈 Even used the discount codes to buy from Deviant, a cleansing oil and balm. It's either going in my advent or away from Christmas so i have time to use more stuff up. A no buy is very much needed now!

Anyway, empties. (Sorry this is super long!)

Sachets are from an overnight stay, thought it was perfect timing to get rid of them, saves me taking full size products.

The Biossance cleansing oil was nice, but it stung my eyes! I think with a first cleanse i want something that smells nice, feels abit like a treat. This wasnt it.

Elemis toner lavender. Prefer it over the apricot one, ill RP if on offer when i run out of my others.

IGK charcoal dry shampoo. HG❤ Have rp they massive can.

Aveeno for babies was a freebie from a mag.

Marshmallow bath foam. For a quid, id buy it again. Ive bought expensive bubble bath's before, and i just dont think its worth it.

400ml Muji Cleansing Oil. A staple. Love. Non-irritating and effective. I use hardcore sunscreen every day. 2xSample tubes Sunsense tinted daily face sunscreen. Trump Orange. I made it work with bronzer, as my skin tone is naturally jaundiced, but avoid if pale or pink. Also quite greasy. Glossier Brow Flick. Didn’t change my life. Was okay... Lanolips in Perfect Nude. They don’t travel well in handbags in the Aussie heat. Pretty colour though. Curel Cleansing Balm. Love it. Leaves skin soft and beautifully clean, but you go through it far too quickly. Best for travel. (One day....) Have decided that panning the Nars Hot Nights Palette (pink/peach one on the right) is unrealistic. The colours are flat and muddy on my yellow skin. They look great on DD1 so she happily took custody today. The Summer Lights one is perfection though. Weirdly, she is much paler than me and the bronzer looks amazing on her. It’s not me at all. The highlight makes me look positively ill, too.

I actually have an empties photo for the first time! Used a few things up this week.
The lacura cream is a dupe of a Kiehls one that I was using as my last step at night over retinol or whatever. It was ok, sank in nicely and wasn't greasy but wasn't anything special of you know what I mean
I like the pixi glow, have a Lacura version to use up now
The coffee scrub was nice. Sample from a beauty box but probably would t but as it was mega expensive for a full size version and can't bring myself to pay that much for body scrub! Especially as I like the S&G one that I also have an empty of!
Also finished a conditioner, Maui silicone free one as I do curly girl. It was nice but again I love the cheap banana conditioner that £1 and also silicone free. I use a lot of conditioner as my hair is waist length so the cheaper the better!

Please can I join you? I’m making a concerted effort to get through some of my hoard before starting on this year’s advent calendars. I’ve been double cleansing, moisturising etc much more consistently over the last month, and it has definitely made a difference to my skin. Latest empties attached. The Femmue Vital C was fantastic. It had a very water like consistency which absorbed easily, and had a noticeable brightening effect on my skin. The Chantecaille cream was lovely - rose scented and light, but I think it’s too £££ to be worth buying full size. The QMS foam felt nice on, but it didn’t appear to do anything at all.

Gregory I really rate the soap and glory scrub too. It is my HG.

just Those palettes look so beautiful. I’m a sucker for a palette, but I don’t find many suit me. Your DD has done well!

My empty pales against all of yours - a nip and fab vitamin c sheet mask. Really like a sheet mask and this was as good as any other!

DeciduousPerennial · 01/11/2020 19:42

I love the soap and glory body butter.

Today I’ve finished a Beauty Pie conditioner: underwhelmed. But that might be because it was the wrong type for my hair and I’m used to a heavier conditioner. I will say that it detangles very well, and smells lovely. But I don’t think it’s worth £35 rrp so I don’t like spending my allowance on it. On the fence about repurchasing.

Also used up a Dove pomegranate shower gel. Lovely smell, but not strong enough to repurchase. Can now move on to one of the several that are sitting in the drawer.

ememem84 · 01/11/2020 21:12

Soap and glory sugar crush body butter advent calender sized used up. Moved on to the plum and cinnamon one now. Supér moisturising even if I don’t like the smell.

About halfway through the sanctuary hand cream I don’t like much too!!

I reckon I have one more use of my Clinique mascara (free sample size mini size) left.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 02/11/2020 11:43

Finished a Kerastase Aura Botanica essence d'eclat. It's a silicone-free moisturising oil-mist for dull, devitalized hair.

I wasn't sold on it to start with, but have enjoyed it quite a bit recently. I liked that it was a watery spray as it was easy to use, and the scent is quite nice. Not entirely sure I would repurchase.

I am quite excited about having finished this as I am generally useless at using up hair products.

BookSkark · 02/11/2020 16:45

Oh dear. My Space NK GWP arrived, along with the unnecessary purchases I made to get it. I can no longer fit all my stash into the box where I hide it from DH - and I've still got my advent calendar to come.

I'm going to have to do some major self-care - I'll get through moisturisers etc. eventually (but not for a while as I'm using the things I actually bought first, rather than small sizes), but it needs a concerted effort to start on the face masks and hair treatments!

And I am very definitely not buying any more of anything until I've run out - even if there seems to be an offer which is too good to resist! This may mean not buying anything for the best part of a year...

WellTidy · 02/11/2020 16:52

Book I was in a similar position this time last year. I have been incredibly focussed this year (in a way that is unprecedented Grin) and have bought maybe five things tops. The fact that I have got through maybe one hundred items shows how enormous my stash was. And I still have another hundred items to go, I’d imagine. I am just coming to an end on my Elemis advent calendar from last year.

Make up takes me an absolute age to get through. Ditto soaps and body creams. I can get through bath foam and shower gel no problem though.

CherryMargo · 02/11/2020 17:43

Empty no. 52 🚮 OSKIA Perfect Cleanser Nutri-active Cleansing & Nourishing Balm (35 ml; GWP) which expired in September 2020.

It contains an unspecified amount of dehydroacetic acid, which I am always wary of as it can be toxic in a concentration of higher than 0.6%, and sweet almond and shea nut oils which break me out. It is a thick balm with a natural rose geranium fragrance which turns into milky substance when combined with water. It is not strong enough to melt all makeup off, and it also leaves a glycerine film on the skin, so it is only good as a first cleanse.

I had to cut the tube to access at least 30% of the remaining product (it is THAT thick!) but the balm hasn’t cut it (pun intended). This brand is so hyped up though, so I will be curious to try other OSKIA products in the future.

A total number of products left in the face makeup remover category: 1 deluxe sample and 1 full-size product.

A warm welcome to everyone who’s joined us recently! 🤗

@Experiment627 thank you so much for your kind words! ❤️

@AsPerMyLastEmail good luck with a no-buy year! I’m resuming my replacement-only no-buy after Black Friday.

@TeatimeAtCloppa I am so sorry that you had to go through that 😥 Big-big hugs to you! ❤️

Costacoffeeplease · 02/11/2020 19:30

I have also reduced my stash by a massive amount this year. I’ve probably got the smallest amount of skincare I’ve had for years, although I still have enough eye shadow, foundation, lipstick and mascara for about 5 years.

I do have 5 calendars but they’re all more skincare than make up

ememem84 · 02/11/2020 21:42

Mascara has gone. Wahoooo.
