That’s a good idea Teatime. I rubbed some into my neck but there was just so much product. I have two sheet masks left to use up so I my hands and arms will be getting treated!

Tidy thanks!!! I smear it all over the backs of y hands and arms...my hands are so soft! Like you I hate wasting serum.

Hi ladies! I somehow fell off the previous board and didn’t find you. Pity because I have just finished a cast of thousands. From memory, they included The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Body Yoghurt. Love the scent, but it’s only okay on the lizard legs. I found myself rushing to use it up. I have the Lemon one (a gift) which I don’t love as much, and I’m doing the same thing. It’s a bit bug spray, tbh. I have used up two bottles of the L’Oreal Magnesium Silver Shampoo. I will repurchase as it’s the only one I’ve found that’s effective and doesn’t irritate. I also love the Tony & Guy blue one, but not the smurf hands that follow. L’Oreal Smartbond treatment. (Their version of olaplex) I think it’s helping, although when Olaplex 0 comes to Aus, I’m jumping ship. I have finished the pot of Laneige sleeping mask in apple & lime. Love. It’s my second favourite after grapefruit. I have a berry one in my car, it’s a bit sweet and I don’t think the texture is the same either. I will always repurchase this. Always. Another tube of Tretinoin down. Again - always. Might request stronger next time. Numerous tubes of Andalou naturals BB & CC creams in 30+ as they’re idiotproof. Three sample-size Hourglass mascaras (the original one) that came free with things. They’re awesome! I have a couple more. I would consider purchasing, but I have a bajillion mascaras to go through. I have cleaned and kept the wands as they’re so very good.
I have been given a million more samples recently. Have come to the conclusion that sheet masks are the marks of satan. They are going to be kept for teacher Christmas presents.

BookSkark · 27/10/2020 22:48
**@WellTidy* /hugs 🤗 right now I’m trying to use up all of my face mask samples so that in 2021 I have only two full-size products to work through (on my ‘mask’ days I always use two masks: a clay one first and a hydrating/moisturising one afterwards). As for sheet masks, I use them only prior to big events where I might be photographed – they create an amazing face lifting effect but are very expensive (the brand is MAGICSTRIPES*). Since the events were put on hold, there's been no use for them 😞
Loving the idea of events where I might be photographed. My life is nowhere near glamorous enough for this - I use masks in the brief gaps between WebEx calls, and desperately hope nobody tries to video call me in-between!

Hello I’m joining you if that’s ok! I’m on the Beauty Advent Calendar thread and am a bit of an addict of them. I was hoarding my products, some for years, but a post on one of the beauty advent threads really resonated with me: it was someone saying she loved to use all her lovely products and would make a ritual of lighting candles etc. Ever since then I’ve been on a mission to do similar. Especially nice to do after being ill for a long time and letting myself go during lockdown.

I love the Trello board idea abs may follow suit.

As for face masks, I feel I’m the opposite here: I’ve basically just sort of discovered them and love them! It’s something to do, innit Wink

ememem84 · 28/10/2020 09:29

Must do more using up and self care. I used to love going to bed early face mask on candle lit etc and just being still. Maybe reading a book.
L’Oréal conditioner finished. Used the rest to shave my legs.

Bought some more mascara yesterday. Ysl navy blue. But only because I’d already bought two things and got a third one with some
Money off (in boots).

TeatimeAtCloppa · 28/10/2020 09:37

I hoard my products too but also use them - I just have so much. When I was young, I had no toiletries at all. No deodorant, moisturiser, soap....nothing. I used to absolutely stink which made school hard and destroyed my self esteem. My family had no money for anything but the barest essentials. Sometimes I wonder if that's why I feel this insane need to have a lot of products in my bedroom and bathroom. They make me feel happy and give me a real lift.

AsPerMyLastEmail · 28/10/2020 14:07

Having joined this last night, I have since spent a lot of money at Space NK and Cult Beauty and got both their GWPs. I do need the things I bought and they're not just for me but I've made a commitment to not buy any more beauty/skincare/nails/haircare products other than cleanser, deodorant, shampoo & conditioner until October 2021. I have enough cleanser to last me for many months.

Experiment627 · 28/10/2020 14:34

@LivingDeadGirlUK Fuji is still being produced by The Body Shop - more in haircare but there is still a shower gel. I adore it - it is a dupe for the Bulgari one.

Welcome @GregoryHouse !!!!

@CherryMargo I really admire how well you know yourself and how you have defined a path.

@AsPerMyLastEmail welcome to you too!!!

I used a Biore pore strip dupe today (not for the first time) -Anouk (purchased on Amazon and way cheaper). Got so much gunk out - it was SO satisfying! Even managed to get out a whitehead which has been so stubborn!!!

@TeatimeAtCloppa sorry to hear about how things used to be. Getting joy from your products is so important- this thread helps me with that!

I cannot wait until Saturday - I am starting my first of two advents!!!! But I have promised myself anything I do not like the look of is being regifted or going to a woman's shelter asap.

I had a major splurge with Superdrug at the weekend - but have sorted some Christmas stuff that way so all good.

Two empties:

 • Superdrug Vitamin E body butter: this is nice and I like the smell
 • Glamglow GravityMud 15g: not a fan... have absolutely no idea what this did

Thank you so much Experiment.Smile I saw an article on morning TV the other week about Hygiene Poverty and how it can lead to crippling lack of self esteem, difficulties in forming relationships, social isolation, constant feelings of shame and humiliation and damage to mental wellbeing. It resonates so much with me...I am in my forties now and those feelings of shame and feeling filthy and smelly and have never left me. It affected so much of my life. I didn't even have sanitary towels for much of the time when I was young. Mum and dad both worked but in very menial jobs and they had six children. They did their best with so little.

But that's why I think my beauty things mean so much to me. It is like, if I have them, then I am holding back those feelings and the circumstances that caused them and I will never experience that again. And as you said, it is so important to enjoy them too and I very much do. It is a wonderful feeling of luxury in an otherwise non-luxurious life.

Sorry for rambling....I was just pondering my own history when I heard of the campaign to end hygiene poverty.

WellTidy · 28/10/2020 18:18

I’m so sorry for your childhood circumstances Teatime. I can see how it would have had such a lasting effect. Much love to you.

The Hygiene Bank is an organisation that accepts things like deodorant, shampoo, soap etc to distribute to those who don’t have these things. I have a local drop off point at an independent coffee shop but my local Boots is also now a drop off point. It’s a good reminder to those of us who have a stash that we know we won’t use, to make use of.

I have an empty (quite a run of late!) - Elemis peptide 4 night facial. It is supposed to be an overnight mask, but I sleep on my front so an overnight mask would be a messy affair. I kept it on for 20 minutes before I’d had enough, so I may not be having the full effect. It was fine, not enormously impressed, so I wouldn’t purchase, but I was happy to use it up (originally part of a GWP or an advent calendar).

WellTidy · 28/10/2020 18:19

Experiment I too was unimpressed with the GlamGlow. I asked for it for my birthday and had really high hopes. It did nothing!

TeatimeAtCloppa · 28/10/2020 18:32

Thank you is much Tidy. And thank you for the information about the Hygiene Bank. I just checked the website and my two local drop offs are a boutique just up the road and a service station I go past all the time. So that is great! I am going to support this charity as best I can so that families out there, especially girls, don't have to suffer needlessly. Thank you so much again.

The only empty I have today is a bio cellulose eye mask by Starskin. I always find the little gel masks so fiddly and was so annoyed because I spilled out the serum from the sachet all over my clothes trying to get them out. So my hands didn't get a treat today!😂

justilou1 · 28/10/2020 21:18

@TeatimeAtCloppa - thank you so much for sharing your story. There was a girl displaying similar issues that my DD’s (who is a gentle soul) mentioned a few times from school. I quietly flagged her with the school counsellor as it is quite a wealthy area, and the equivalent off SS became involved with the family for a while. (We are in Aus, so things are done differently here. It was very discrete. I know about this only because her Mum told me over coffee when I got to know her later, and she told me about it all. I did not tell her that I was the one who informed the school counsellor though.) She seems happier and is doing well in school, etc. The hygiene issues appear to be gone too, which is great. I am studying nursing and have a legal duty of care to report kid and vulnerable people in specific situations and this change in hygiene is listed. It can signify that someone is being SA as well as neglected. Luckily in the case, there has been no signs of that!

ememem84 · 28/10/2020 22:14

A few ins hand cream from body shop (with using sanitizer all over the place I’m also finding I’m using more hand cream)

And dsis bought me a camomile face balm thing from body shop. Anyone else used it?

WellTidy · 28/10/2020 22:29

An empty - Crabtree and Evelyn pomegranate argon and grape seed 30ml hand cream. Loved this - really nourishing and not at all greasy. Would definitely buy again, and would buy the full size too. I have quite a few other full size hand creams to get through first.

Ponks · 28/10/2020 22:37

Another empty- I'm storming through at the moment - a mini Fresh Soy face wash. I've been using as a second cleanse but don't like the smell (cucumber?). Using only as it was a freebie somewhere. Got another one to get through as well.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 28/10/2020 23:31

Just finished a sachet of the Lancer caviar lime acid peel.
Got two applications out of it, and it does leave my skin feeling very smooth and lovely, but it’s 90 or so quid for a full size, and that’s just not going to happen.

The first time I used it, I did notice that my skin felt more oily the day after, so maybe it isn’t for me anyway.

Ememem84, if it’s the body shop camomile balm cleanser you got, then it is very good. Very similar to Clinique TTDO balm.

AsPerMyLastEmail · 28/10/2020 23:59

I’ve gotten through quite a few things in the past few days but can’t remember all the details. They are:

 • a small candle from last year’s Harrod’s calendar. It hardly smelt so was underwhelming.
 • a small tube of a vegan hair mask. Nice, but I wasn’t blown away.
 • The Oozoo Hydro Lift Face-in-Shot mask 27ml. This was great, really hydrating with a generous amount. I enjoyed the gimmick science of injecting the syringe into the mask.
 • Roques O’Neil Therapie Protect Bath & Body Oil 30ml. Nice. This was from a GWP or advent. It’s not something I’d buy again but I would be happy if I got it again in a beauty box.
 • Garnier eye gel mask. Meh.
 • Noble Isle fireside bath & shower gel. Small bottle - another box/advent offering. I used this for several baths and adored it. Really great scent. I didn’t know of the company but I’m going to be ordering from them in the future.
TeatimeAtCloppa · 29/10/2020 06:34

@justilou1 you will have helped that young lady so much! You did a really great thing there. Thank you for not looking the other way....it is still a difficult thing for me to accept, that people knew how my family struggled and no one did anything. Teachers treated me as if I was invisible, at best. One teacher was positively vile, screaming at me not to touch her if I so much as slightly rubbed against her while walking past. I had one friend through school who was also seen as a little different. Hygiene is SO important for self worth and acceptance. I don't think many people realise.

And for empties...just finished REN Clean Screen SPF 30. I have been using a separate sunscreen as part of my morning routine for a few years now...got this one in a beauty box. It was nice and did the job. Won't repurchase though as I have a couple of favourite sunscreens that I like to buy, such as Natura Bisse Diamond.

@AsPerMyLastEmail I have that little Noble Isle set..it is sitting looking very pretty in my bathroom. You have inspired me to use it instead of just looking at it.Grin

AsPerMyLastEmail · 29/10/2020 07:16

Teatime excellent Grin Let me know what you think! I haven’t used the body lotion yet so will join you in using that up shortly.

Costacoffeeplease · 29/10/2020 12:22

Another batch of empties, making way for the calendar goodies

I will AsPer. I can move onto it now that I have just finished my little bottle of Penhaligan's Halfeti Shower gel...got it last year in a calendar I think. It was GORGEOUS! I found the scent really intoxicating and luxurious.

DeciduousPerennial · 29/10/2020 20:50

Beauty Pie plantastic moisturising balm thing - the moisturiser from the plantastic range.

It’s been an absolute chore. Definitely not a repurchase - I ended up finishing it on the back of my neck/between my shoulders where I get sore, dry skin, and on my legs.

Now moving on to Lumene minis from a freebie tin I got when I bought a full size tinted serum last year.
