Hi, new to this thread, hope it's ok to join?
I am a beauty hoarder. I have tons of stuff, make up, creams, hair products, perfume etc.

It is my new years resolution to get through it without purchasing new stuff (only when necessary, if I have a replica I'm going to use it).

I've not read the full thread yet but noticed a few asking where to donate stuff. Try the grace milane handbag charity. It was set up to give domestic violence victims a free bag, filled with beauty essentials and little extras, when they go into dv shelter. Check it out, it's a very good cause in Grace's memory.
Sorry if it's already been mentioned.

I found a woman’s shelter that is desperate for everything. Packing it all up now. They also want blankets and winter clothes - I have a plethora. I have explained that it might take a few days/weeks, but I am so much happier to donate to them than to hurl it into charity bins knowing it will probably be picked through by staff first.

justilou1 · 28/01/2021 02:45

Hi Anthilda, if I was in the UK, I would. We have something similar here, but they have just done a big charity drive before Christmas and will not be taking any more until March.

Anthilda · 28/01/2021 07:39

Thanks @Experiment627 Smile
@justilou1 The womens shelter is a good choice to donate to. Definitely better to donate rather than throw away.
I have just donated a bag full to my little niece who is starting to take an interest in make up.

I have some stuff here that I cant get rid of though. A few brushes that I've had since teens, although not used anymore. I also have some old lipglosses and my grandmas old eye shadow palettes.
I think my interest in all things beauty is down to her actually. She had some amazing stuff and also the jewellery and clothes she had were very stylish too. I would always look through her stuff when I visited as a child and she never told me to keep off anything. I would sit for ages looking through and trying on her jewellery.
So I will never get rid of her make up, it's a reminder of how glamorous she was.

@Anthilda such lovely memories of your Granny 💜💜💜 My Granny was not in to make-up God knows where my addiction comes from but I have her mother's Suffragette pin, from when she was released from Holloway Prison.

Clarins extra comfort cleansing water gone. I love the smell of this so peachy! And will probably repurchase but have a ton of micellar water to get through first.

justilou1 · 28/01/2021 08:13

Oooh@Experiment627 &@Anthilda both of your grannies sound awesome! I adored one of mine, who was raised in an oppressive cult. She was super intelligent and funny, and basically lived through the eyes of me and my two cousins. She had a horrid marriage and a worse childhood, but she was such a vital, young thinker. I think she would have been such an achiever if she had been born a generation later.... 😢 My other grandmother was a harridan. The less said, the better!

Experiment627 · 28/01/2021 09:13

Blimey @justilou1 your poor Granny! So glad that you knew her and she has been an inspiration for you.

She was awesome!!! I’m grateful she lived with me when we were growing up. Unfortunately Oy parents were horrid too. My husband and I were trying to find a way to make it possible for her to move in with us when we married, but unfortunately she became ill and died in hospital. (My parents were fleecing her for cash. Great family... 🤬)

Experiment627 · 28/01/2021 10:13

@justilou1 well I hope you take comfort from the fact you are nothing like them.

Also was not bragging about my great-grandmummy - just so proud of her!!!

And you know I only realised this morning that my logo colours are the suffragette colours!!! GrinGrinGrin

Impressed with all the clear outs and make up collections.

Few empties from me, mostly advent/gift boxes:
The only one of note is the l’occitane cream which is great and snells good.
The shower oil was so awful I didn’t finish it.

@costacoffeeplease what do you think of the damage remedy? I’ve been using for years, but thinking of changing.
@FanciedanewnameAnne try the l’occitane in the yellow tub (in my pic).
Hello @Anthilda that’s such a lovely memory.
Pleased you found somewhere to donate @justilou1 sorry your gran had such a tough time 😢 and that your parents aren’t the best.
Love you story about the suffragette pin @Experiment627

Costacoffeeplease · 28/01/2021 11:30

I liked the damage remedy but I don’t know if I’d repurchase tbh

Experiment627 · 28/01/2021 11:34

I have damage remedy - not at all sure what it does... happy to post to someone in need? @Pomegranatespompom

@Experiment627 - I’d bloody brag my pants off if my grandmother were like yours! I’d put her face on a t-shirt and wear it everywhere!!!

PusheenLove · 28/01/2021 12:30

Good. Good. Report back Brew

CherryMargo · 28/01/2021 17:31

@PusheenLove trying to find HGs was one of the main reasons why my beauty stash grew big so quickly. Unfortunately, hundreds of products and thousands of pounds later the search still continues 😣 Listed below are the only products I would repurchase (the list used to be a bit longer but several products have been discontinued):

• Hair conditioner – L'Oréal Prodigy Magnifying Satin Conditioner
• Hair mask – Oribe Moisture and Control Deep Treatment Masque
• Deodorant – Meow Meow Tweet Baking Soda Free Grapefruit Deodorant
• Foot cream – SVR XERIAL 50 Extreme Feet Cream
• Face wash – Medik8 Calmwise Soothing Cleanser
• Toners – Paula's Choice Resist Daily Pore-Refining Treatment 2% BHA (exfoliating); La Mer The Treatment Lotion (hydrating)
• Retinoids – Medik8 r-Retinoate Intense Youth Activating Cream (Day & Night); Medik8 r-Retinoate Eye Serum Youth Activating Cream (Day & Night)
• Face cream – Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream
• Eye drops – Ursapharm Hylo Comod
• Foundation – Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup
• Eye pencil – Yves Saint Laurent Dessin Du Regard Pencil and Blending Tip
• Nail treatment – GEHWOL Protective Nail and Skin Oil

PusheenLove · 28/01/2021 17:49

@CherryMargo wow. Thank you VERY much. Star

What are your hair and skin concerns that you target with those products?

How does Medik8 compare to A313?

CherryMargo · 28/01/2021 18:20

@PusheenLove I’m afraid, I’ve never tried A313 products before. I'll make a note! 😉

My hair is dehydrated, thinning and chemically treated. My curl type is 2A. The conditioner and mask help with the dehydration issue, so my waves are not frizzy or crunchy.

My skin type is combination. I have mild rosacea and enlarged pores, and sometimes suffer from hormonal acne. The exfoliating toner keeps the inflammation at bay without dehydrating my skin, and the hydrating toner miraculously erases my fine lines. The face wash combats my rosacea, and the peptide cream doesn’t break me out and has the best anti-ageing ingredients I’ve seen on the market so far.

If you reside in the UK, you may find the following information useful 😊

Thanks to a partnership between recycling innovators Terracycle and health care brands Buscopan and Dulcolax, ANY used medicine blister packets can now be recycled via special containers in selected pharmacies including some Superdrug stores. The participating stores can be found HERE.

Tetrapak have also partnered with Maybelline to install collection points for ANY brand of empty cosmetic packaging in some Boots, Tesco, Superdrug and Sainsbury's stores. The participating stores can be found HERE.
