@BlueSussex the aveda was fine, it’s a leave in conditioner but quite a small sample size so I only got a couple of uses out of it

Ponks · 16/01/2021 11:14

A stack of empties from the last couple of weeks, it's taken ages to finish some of them as, like others, I like to chop and change products so I have lots on the go at once.

 • BOots No7 Protect and Perfect day cream. Love this moisturiser and have used it for a few years. Not too heavy but leaves skin feeling dewy and heAlthy. Get bored and try new ones but always comeback to this. Have 2 unopened in my stash (Boots do such great offers) but lots of other moisturisers waiting to be used.
 • Boots No7 Protect and Perfect all in one foundation. Not a fan. Heard others say it was a dupe for It Cosmetics CC cream but it isn't. Just doesn't sit as nicely on the skin as other No7 foundations I've tried, was harder to blend and showed off my pores. Still used the whole tube as I hate throwing things away. Prefer the Hydraluminous foundation by miles.
 • Fresh Brown Sugar shower gel. Lovely smell, got it as a treat for myself last year (and Fresh do great gifts with purchase) but it is £££ so will probably stick to cheaper shower gels in future.
 • Fresh lotus night cream (mini) - surprisingly nice , rich but not too heavy, a little fragrance but not overpowering.
 • Strivectin anti wrinkle eye cream (mini) - like this , it feels like it hydrates and tightens under the eyes and I have purchased the full size. Only issue is that sometimes it can irritate the skin (round my eyes can be sensitive now and then).

-Lumene Nordic hydra day fluid(mini from advent calendar). It's ok. Didn't blow me away.

 • Tesco conditioning hand and nail cream. Love this, light and sinks in quickly, used it for years. Would RP but haven't been in a Tesco for nearly a year as other supermarkets are nearer.

Phew that's a load of empties for me.

@BlueSussex I remember the Vidal Sassoon hair products, loved the smell. I tried the Aveda cherry range but it didn't bring back VS memories.

BlueSussex · 16/01/2021 12:51

Thanks @ponks that has saved me some £££££

Babysharkdoodoodood · 16/01/2021 15:45

Etat Pür salycylic gel. Great spot treatment. This ones nearly 7 years old! Given in and bought a new Murad one. The elemis was a sample and Skyn from a box.

Pomegranatespompom · 16/01/2021 20:37

@BookShark oh that’s irritating especially if not tied in with a GWP.
Oh I’d have inwardly seethed about the eyeshadows @justilou1

I’ve just used an aromatherapy associates oil from the Liberty AC - so disappointing, smells like pine disinfectant. Too many duffs in the AC, might resist this year (hmmmm!!)

ememem84 · 17/01/2021 07:27

Lavender bath bubbles (the dcs) done. Yippee.

Pomegranatespompom · 17/01/2021 08:43

I’ve just done an inventory- I’ve 60 full or good sized products. I’m not sure I can justify a GWP this year - 9 cleansers & 9 moisturisers ....

Ive few Susanne Kaufman products I just don’t rate and Liberty seemed obsessed with having them in AC or GWP.
What do you do with products you don’t like but aren’t good enough to gift ?

Costacoffeeplease · 17/01/2021 10:14

There are charities who send them to refuges?

Caggie09 · 17/01/2021 15:27

19 out, 7 in..

Juliette has a gun, lipstick fever. This was in a GWP. A very unique scent, but was a pleasure to wear. Its never something i would of tried myself, id like it in a full size, but not rushing out to purchase.

Superdrug Vitamin E Intensive body cream. This was one of them till side purchases! Grabbed it while in the queue, and dont regret it. Love the scent of this range, and loved the cream too. Sank in quickly, skin was nice and could throw clothes on top straight after! Will probably pick more up after im through my other body stuff!

BlueSussex · 17/01/2021 20:04

@Caggie09 that's what I am currently using. I don't get much of scent from it though which is the only thing I don't like about it.

It's a huge pot and as you say, sinks it so quickly but leaves me feeling moisturised all day.

I am really going to try to not buy any more beauty products/toiletries or even clothes and accessories this year unless I absolutely have to. I have so much it's embarrassing.Blush

QueenPawPaws · 17/01/2021 22:17

Another sea of empties from me

Beauty Hoarders anonymous - take pride in your stride!!!
ememem84 · 18/01/2021 10:47

body shop shea body butter finished. full size. wahooooo!

moving onto a winter jasmine mini one.

Experiment627 · 18/01/2021 11:09

@CherryMargo I tried the Lush popcorn lipbalm too and found it rank... however the Bubblegum one - well that is another story!!! You do have to use fairly fast once open (and also within date) - I use the rest up on my body - it is a fantastic scrub!!!!

So I have a pile of empties:

 • Chanel Healthy Glow Foundation - this was only a sample sachet but I really enjoyed using it AND it does not contain cyclopentasxiloxane!!! Wahoo!!!!
 • The Body Shop aloe anti-perspirant: I have this in my rotation
 • Hipp Kids clean & green bubbly bath: Kwicklet liked this... I was a bit meh as the water did not go very green
 • Colab dry shampoo original: this is not an empty but I am adding to pile of other failed dry shampoos that I shall give away
 • Pixi rose tonic: meh... really not sure what this added
-Cien Q10 anti-wrinkle day cream: yuk, yuk, yuk!!! I got this at Lidl. Tastes foul - and it is the type of cream that leaks into mouth, greasy and hard to apply. Also smells like Nivea suncream. EPIC FAIL!
 • Q&A liquorice lip oil: another EPIC FAIL - this actually dried my lips out!!!!
 • Gallinee face vinegar: hmmmm... not sure I like the smell of vinegar on my face!!!
-Drunk Elephant E_rase Milki Micellar Water: this was quite a thick micellar and I felt it had to be washed off after... nothing amazeballs... much prefer Bioderma

MackemLass79 · 19/01/2021 10:09

Finally finally finally!!!! I have finished my first full size 30ml I think bottle of perfume actually used it all up and not just binned it cos it's old (it was) it off colour or just because I never wore it i did just very infrequently and I have over 50 perfumes. Davidoff cool waters sea rose it's been a pleasure but goodbye. I was gifted this for christmas in about 1996 (I just, just!!!! 🤣🤣🤣😂😂). Oh well only 49+ left to get thru

MackemLass79 · 19/01/2021 10:13

I meant I jest, just!!!* stupid phone autocorrects just for the sake of it I think

Experiment627 · 19/01/2021 11:41

OMG @BlueSussex do you remember the Vidal Sassoon shampoo & conditioner that smelled of almond???? It was released in the eighties and is still a very fond memory for moi. As is the original Pantene...

@BookSkark your post about your DH made me LOL!!!! You MUST steal it from him!!!

@Costacoffeeplease there are women's refuges that accept beauty and skincare products - just check with your local ones (or I can give you the deets of one I know accepting) plus there are Hygiene Banks across the UK - unfortunately none near me

@Caggie09 I adore the scent of the Superdrug vitamin E range

I may have had to purchase from Space NK to avoid losing my rewards

Experiment627 · 19/01/2021 11:45

Ah! and I have some empties!!!

 • L'oreal Age Perfect cleansing milk: this is HG for me - cheap as chips and great basic cleanser
 • Me+ hyaluronic booster: this was just too gloopy... I have used better hyaluronic acid serums at a similar price point
 • Purity one-step facial cleanser: this was from the H&B avent - did not like smell, or taste (some inadvertently got in mouth every bloody use!!!) and also felt drying

BookShark · 19/01/2021 12:11

Apparently I'm not allowed to steal from DH as he's got really dry skin at the moment, so needs a good moisturiser. I'm trying not to laugh as there's no reason that he shouldn't use it, it's just very unlike him!

A couple of sample size empties from me.

 • Costa Brazil body cream - didn't like this, it felt quite sticky and took a while to absorb
 • Sunday Riley CEO Glow facial oil - I think it was Caggie who was saying upthread that she realised how much she needed an oil as part of her routine. I don't think I do - I found it very oily (yes, I know the clue's in the name, but still) and hard to put a moisturiser on top. I've got an Espa one to try and some point so will be interesting to see if that's the same.
Pomegranatespompom · 19/01/2021 15:02

@BookShark I think you put oil on last?

justilou1 · 19/01/2021 15:07

Today I bought a new chapstick to replace the one that melted in my car. I was given a giant show bag FULL of bloody KBeauty samples. Would have been rude, right? Looks like this year’s empties list is about to be written!

WithTheTide · 19/01/2021 15:19

Hello - just found the thread and would love to join in. I have finished Elemis Neroli Blossom bath and shower milk 300ml and same fragrance cleansing balm. Thank goodness it’s gone as the fragrance is overpowering and headache inducing. I still have a body cream and hand cream to get through. I decided to unsubscribed from Elemis promotional emails to wean myself off. The neroli was a poorly chosen free set - wish I’d chosen the Rose fragrance. I have just purchased a Margaret Dabbs foot file and foot hygiene cream - the file is excellent and the cream rich and nourishing. Thirty Elemis products to go and then it’s time for another brand. Am working my way, very happily, through Faith in Nature shampoo and conditioner.

BookShark · 19/01/2021 15:19
@BookShark I think you put oil on last?
Oh, really? There weren't any instructions as it was just a sample size, so I googled and it said to layer or blend with other products - which I effectively did as it didn't sink in, so got blended with my moisturiser. But maybe I owe it an apology if it was user error!

CherryMargo · 19/01/2021 16:24

@Experiment627 no wonder they discontinued the Popcorn scrub! Making a note of the Bubblegum scrub! 😉 Thank you!

Meanwhile, I’ve used up my HG deodorant – Meow Meow Tweet Baking Soda Free Rose Geranium Deodorant Stick (50 g; £4.99). I have three more in my stash, which should last me until my next annual haul – I only use a small amount each time, and the deodorising effect lasts the whole day without the need for re-application.

In other news:

Yesterday I was playing with my S&B inventory database to identify the most problematic categories in my stash. I’ve decided to consider a category problematic when it has more than three full-size products (except for sheet masks, nose strips and eyeshadow palettes). I seem to have 13 categories like that. My third goal for 2021 will be to reduce this number as much as I can.

Another change that I’ve made to my Excel spreadsheets is the addition of an extra column titled ‘Why did I get it?’ As I use my products up, I will be answering the following questions: Was I trying to get a free shipping? Was it gifted to me? Was I tempted by positive reviews or a discount? And so on. Hopefully, it will help me understand my buying behaviour better.

It’s not my page - I googled as was uncertain re order- I’ve started to follow and think my skin looks brighter.
