Used a 111skin Rose Gold illuminating eye mask tonight. Very nice plumping / tightening effect on my under eye crevasses ( seriously, I seem to have aged ten years in the last couple of weeks and it's mainly the skin under my eyes that looks terrible).
It's a complete indulgence but I'm now interested to try other similar under-eye masks.

An empty Diptyque shower gel this morning. Really liked this, and a little goes a long way. Definite repurchase, and have also bought MIL one for Christmas!

@justilou1 I did not know this about Keratase and Loreal!!!

Suffering from a never-ending cold at the mo so feeling sorry for myself.

Two empties:

  • No7 softening foot scrub: I liked this. Now using up the hand one on my tootsies.
  • Percy & Reed wonder overnight recovery: only used in the day - not a fan of having gunk on my hair overnight. Really pissed off to see it contains cyclopentasiloxane which is a voltaile endocrine altering silicone I try to avoid... did not see any miracle results

Finished a No7 Hydraluminous under eye concealer. Love this, it's brilliant, a great consistency and goes well with the Hydraluminous foundation. Will repurchase when I've finished my other concealer.

ememem84 · 09/12/2020 21:23

Ooh I love a concealer recommendation. Will give that one a try once I’m done with my maybeline one. I think it’s maybeline.

justilou1 · 09/12/2020 22:53

Oh yes, all makeup/hair companies do this! Kerastase is owned by L’Oreal is divided into several categories; L’Oreal Luxe, which covers Lancôme, Yves Saint Laurent and Giorgio Armani. L’Oreal Consumer Products; L’Oreal Cosmetics, Garnier, Maybelline, NYX, Essie, Stylenanda 3CE, Dark & Loveley, Neely, Mg, La Provençale Bio...Their Active Cosmetics Department has these brands, Cerave, La Roche Posay, Decleor, Vichy, Skinceuticals. The L’Oreal Professionals Brands are their haircare, L’Oreal, Kerastase, Redken, Matrix and Pureology.

They own the world.

BookShark · 09/12/2020 23:21

What justilou1 said! I used to work for L'Oréal (admittedly 20 years ago) and it's amazing how much of the technology gets recycled through the different brands. In general, the more expensive brands are about the packaging, and getting the new developments first, but not exclusively so - sometimes the Garnier product is every bit as good as the Lancome one, just in a plastic tube rather than a glass pot. That said, while it's not always worth paying the extra for the shiny box, bear in mind you're also paying for the counter service/hair dresser advice (and they are genuinely trained by L'Oréal - they used to come round the office asking for willing volunteers for hair styling etc.)

I hadn't really twigged quite how long ago it was until I started writing that. Probably time to get rid of all the make-up with a "staff shop" sticker on it. May explain why I have such a large stash though - I was corrupted at a young age!

justilou1 · 09/12/2020 23:33

I think the haircare lines are slightly different though... I have been looking at the ingredients. I know that the actives are further up the list the more you spend. However, there is also definitely more fragrance (undoubtedly to mask the higher percentage of active ingredients, as they do pong a bit.) I think that it’s also the same with skincare, although it’s still a bit more regulated. The active ingredients are virtually the same ones and at the same percentages. (The LRP Vit C serum is crap, btw, always oxidized before you buy it and turns you into Donald Trump.) Their carrier ingredients are superior to their cheaper lines. It doesn’t necessary justify the price difference at all though. The cost difference is clearly comprised of packaging these days.

ememem84 · 10/12/2020 09:25

DOESNT L’Oréal also own body shop or am I making that up?

It’s the same as Unilever and p&g owning everything isn’t it? Hence why all the washing powders suddenly do the same things...

ememem84 · 10/12/2020 11:38

L’Oréal Le I’ve dream lengths sachet gone. Dm had a load of samples from magazines and helpfully gave them to
Me.

Experiment627 · 10/12/2020 12:00

Blimey!!! What a wealth of knowledge on this thread!!!

I think The Body Shop got sold again!

All this chat just makes me want to BUY BUY BUY!!!

justilou1 · 10/12/2020 14:06

@ememem84 - I just checked, and L’Oreal used to own Body Shop, but a lot of their customer base boycotted them when that purchase went through (because a lot of their brands sell in China, amd therefore test on animals, etc.) They sold on to Brazilian company Natura.

CherryMargo · 10/12/2020 18:27

Two makeup empties 🚮

Kat von D Ink Liner in Trooper (0.2 ml). Glossy finish. Felt tip. It used to come in 10 gorgeous shades but now (after the brand got a new owner) there’s only one colour (black).

Kat von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper (0.2 ml). Matt finish. Brush tip. It was and still is made in 2 shades (black and dark brown).

I got them as gifts during a Kat von D launch event in London back in... 2016 👀 Both are intensely pigmented, long-lasting, high-precision liners, and they won’t dry out for YEARS, as long you store them upside down. You can get a very fine line/wing with the Tattoo Liner, as its tip is more flexible/less rigid than the Ink Liner’s tip.

A total number of products left in the liquid eyeliner category: 2 deluxe samples and 2 full-size products.

Finally finished an Alpha H Liquid Gold. Really like this , although prefer the Rose version, but I use it less frequently now that I use retinol.
I remember being so impressed the first time I used it, could really see the difference the next day. I'm very interested in trying the new Alpha H Midnight Restore which has glycolic acid and a retinoid.

Caggie09 · 11/12/2020 13:32

Dr lipp nipple balm. Love this for my lips, would RP.

111 SKIN rose gold eye mask. Enjoyed them, love the sheet mask too.

Experiment627 · 11/12/2020 16:06

Wow @CherryMargo makeup empties!!! Look at you!!!

I have also used up a KVD liner!!! (Must be the season!) aptly named Koala. It was a lovely grey colour. (I’m blonde with very light grey eyes, so it works for me.) I loved it, but I wouldn’t repurchase from KVD again. (The vaccination thing, and then the rebrand is just really annoying.)

Ponks · 11/12/2020 16:49

A makeup empty is rare for me - for some reason I've bought a new cream eyeshadow and a new eyeshadow palette recently, when I think I have enough to last the next 20 years! I don't have many, and wear shadow every day, they just seem to last forever.

I've realised that I've been buying moisturiser as if there's a worldwide shortage on the horizon. Not helped by my Lumene advent calendar- three new moisturisers so far! I have to make a real effort not to try any more.

justilou1 · 12/12/2020 00:12

I wonder how many billions of years it would actually take to finish a blush? Why the heck are they so big? I’ve been using a sample-sized size Nars The Multiple in South Beach. I’ve had it for well over a year and use it nearly every day. It gives me that glowy, blushy, bronzy, highlighted look with just one product. It’s nearly finished now, and I think it’s done pretty well. (And it was a freebie!) The full-sized one is 22.7g and I think would last me at least 4.5 years. Given that you rub it on your cheeks, it’s bound to go manky before then, surely?

Experiment627 · 12/12/2020 05:50

@justilou1 in my case it would take a gazillion trillion years to finish a blush as I so rarely apply any!!!

Forgive me threaders for I have sinned 🙏🏼
I spent 80 quid last night in about 5 minutes on the Boots app... I have ordered so many The Inkey List products I should have bought shares! But TBH I have been fairly impressed with the ones I have tried so far and they are not way way way expensive. I also stocked up on lip balm - I do think that I have found two Holy Grail lip balms- Aquaphor and La Roche Posay... but you know me... that does not stop me wanting to find more!!!!
I did get some stuff for Kwicklet too... so not all bad!

If it makes you feel better, I bought 3x these, @Experiment627 . One for each DD and one pour moi.

*Also trying to stop myself from pulling the trigger on the Hourglass lipstick to replace the one I’ve lost.
