My wall of text Black Friday report...
In April 2020 I decided to make all of my non-replacement S&B purchases only ONCE A YEAR (in the space of one month, to be precise) 🛍️ I chose November to be the month of my annual haul for its Singles' Day/Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Christmas sales. My yearly expenses data helped me set a savings goal – I was saving an equal amount each month from April to October to be financially prepared. Not to be tempted by discounts into buying more than what I can use up until my next S&B haul ‘anniversary’, I took my Project Pan data into consideration.
As a result, in November 2020 I purchased 15 full-size S&B and personal hygiene products, and received 2 full-size products and 5 foil sachets as GWP 🛒 I also bought 15 items for my tools and accessories stash, and received 4 items as GWP.
This was a huge improvement in comparison to previous years. Especially in comparison to Black Friday 2019 when I bought 36 full-size products, and received 13 full-size products, 36 deluxe samples and 14 foil sachets as GWP 😱 Hopefully, next year my product acquisition will remain just as moderate.
It is worth mentioning that, unlike in previous years, when many of the GWPs which I’d received, much to my regret, were from the categories where I already had products in excess (e.g. hair conditioner/oil, face primers, serums), this year’s GWPs are the products which I will be able to incorporate into my current routine and use up before 2022.
I also realised that whilst I was rather impatiently waiting for November to come, I was spending a huge amount of my free time browsing online beauty shops, looking for new S&B products to try, reading customer reviews, etc. I need to stop searching 24/7 for new shiny things to buy, and use my free time in a more productive way. So, in 2021 I will give myself only three weeks in October to do research, and to decide on what to add to my wish list for November 📝
How was your Black Friday experience this year?
