Empty no. 59 🚮 Medik8 Pore Cleanse Gel Intense (150 ml; £14.87) which expired in November 2019 🤢

In my defence, I only used it on my makeup days (i.e. not very often), and I only needed a small droplet each time. It has a refreshing minty scent, and I’d recommend it for stubborn makeup removal, especially if you have large pores.

A total number of products left in the face cleanser category: 3 foil sachets, 1 deluxe sample and 3 full-size products.

Gigantic bottle of Bodyshop Olive body wash done and dusted. Lovely, refreshing scent, which is perfect for summer here, but SOOOOOO drying! I have had better luck with supermarket stuff. Such a pity! Still forcing myself to use the English Rose body lotion the kids bought me for my birthday. It’s glittery. Also not really a rose girl. Don’t think it does much, tbh. If I thought DDs would use it, I’d donate it to them, but they wouldn’t touch it.

Ponks · 29/11/2020 11:14

A couple of empties today:

Fresh black tea eye cream, I love this, thick and creamy and although it's not the holy grail firming cream I originally thought, it's still lovely especially when under eyes are a bit sensitive. I have a backup ready to go (bought with a voucher as it is ££).

Lancôme Genefique mini, I don't really "get" this, it's a hydrating serum but I'd rather use a vitamin c plus a moisturiser.

ememem84 · 29/11/2020 15:25

Afternoon.

No empties. But look. Tortoise at the zoo.

Probably about 70 years old. Great skin

LivingDeadGirlUK · 29/11/2020 16:39

I've used a peppermint foot treatment from superdrugs, the kind you put your feet in the little bags. Was really nice actually.

BookShark · 29/11/2020 16:47

Ponks, I quite liked the Genefique sample I had, but that's because it coincided with a time my skin looked really good over the summer. Only problem is that it may not have been the Genefique, and could have been one of the other products I was using - I'll never know!

My wall of text Black Friday report...

In April 2020 I decided to make all of my non-replacement S&B purchases only ONCE A YEAR (in the space of one month, to be precise) 🛍️ I chose November to be the month of my annual haul for its Singles' Day/Black Friday/Cyber Monday/Christmas sales. My yearly expenses data helped me set a savings goal – I was saving an equal amount each month from April to October to be financially prepared. Not to be tempted by discounts into buying more than what I can use up until my next S&B haul ‘anniversary’, I took my Project Pan data into consideration.

As a result, in November 2020 I purchased 15 full-size S&B and personal hygiene products, and received 2 full-size products and 5 foil sachets as GWP 🛒 I also bought 15 items for my tools and accessories stash, and received 4 items as GWP.

This was a huge improvement in comparison to previous years. Especially in comparison to Black Friday 2019 when I bought 36 full-size products, and received 13 full-size products, 36 deluxe samples and 14 foil sachets as GWP 😱 Hopefully, next year my product acquisition will remain just as moderate.

It is worth mentioning that, unlike in previous years, when many of the GWPs which I’d received, much to my regret, were from the categories where I already had products in excess (e.g. hair conditioner/oil, face primers, serums), this year’s GWPs are the products which I will be able to incorporate into my current routine and use up before 2022.

I also realised that whilst I was rather impatiently waiting for November to come, I was spending a huge amount of my free time browsing online beauty shops, looking for new S&B products to try, reading customer reviews, etc. I need to stop searching 24/7 for new shiny things to buy, and use my free time in a more productive way. So, in 2021 I will give myself only three weeks in October to do research, and to decide on what to add to my wish list for November 📝

How was your Black Friday experience this year?

QueenPaws · 29/11/2020 17:37

I was very restrained and purchased nothing except a candle which is for a secret Santa present
I did do the tarte custom kit but that was last month

Pomegranatespompom · 29/11/2020 19:44

I was reasonably restrained:
Rituals small set
Personal planner as linked on here 😳
Neom candle
Cardigan in uniglo.

BookShark · 29/11/2020 20:22

Nothing 😇. But I do have the Net A Porter advent calendar ready to go on Tuesday...

BookShark · 29/11/2020 20:23

Oh, I did get a 2021 planner, but that's stationery, not beauty, so completely acceptable. Apologies to Pomegranates for taking you down with me!

Pomegranatespompom · 30/11/2020 07:04

@BookShark I am so excited about the plannner 😳 thank you for linking.

ememem84 · 30/11/2020 21:31

Soap and glory hand food all gone. Full size.

Moved on to body shop Shea butter hand cream.

Pomegranatespompom · 01/12/2020 11:37

Few empties from me.
Foot scrub - not that effective.
Ren night balm - I grew to like this, very moisturising.
Dior eye cream sample from beauty box - very thick- didn’t like.

Pomegranatespompom · 01/12/2020 11:38

The Dermalogica 30ml pre cleanse lasted ages. I quite liked it but keen to try another brand to compare.

WellTidy · 01/12/2020 12:02

I was enormously restrained on Black Friday - just bought a Neom candle (and got 4 x 30ml hand creams free). Especially considering I haven't bought an advent calendar this year! I am thinking that I am due some sort of honour from the Queen.

Empty: Occitane cedar soap. Haven't had any empties beyond sheet masks for about a month. I am finding that 30ml estee lauder and elemis cleansers last forever!

I am seriously considering donating/chucking all of my body moisturisers, and I have many, mostly full size. I probably have enough for 4+ years, assuming I used them on my entire body every other day (which isn't going to happen). And then just having one luxury one - for me, either Rituals Sakura or Occitane almond milk veil - and making a proper effort to actually use it.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 01/12/2020 14:25

Mini 10ml Nuxe dry oil. It's ok but not buying a full size. I use bio oil daily for scars anyway.

Caggie09 · 01/12/2020 14:59

My BF purchases were:

Nuxe Body lotion
Weleda Arnica bath milk
Olaplex no 3
2 Laura Mercier body butters
KS goat milk cleanser
SpaceNK candle
Fresh Rose toner
A travel bag
A lash lift kit
and finally... a REN body scrubBlush

I had one slight incoinvence in my life, and thought sod it, i want treats🙈

Anyway empties:

Radox bath oil, prefer the rose one. Think its dis-con💔
Lacura toner and scrub, fine. Would possibly RP.
Body scrub was meh..
DE Balm, already have fullsize in stash!

Empty no. 60 🚮 Medik8 Lipid-Balance Cleansing Oil (1 ml; feelunique’s Pick & Mix).

Another something which irked me about feelunique. I ordered their Pick & Mix in the beginning of November. Instead of five samples they sent me four. No apology, no explanation. At least the oil sample was amongst them.

I wanted to try this oil before buying a full-size, and it ended up being just as good as I expected – cost-effective and efficient at removing makeup. Last Friday I ordered the full-size bottle at a 30% discount from the Medik8 website. As for feelunique, I doubt I’ll be buying from them in the future.

A total number of products left in the face makeup remover category: 1 deluxe sample and 2 full-size products.

@justilou1 we would NEVER boot you out!!!! Mecca sounds fab!

@Pomegranatespompom stationery is such an important thing!!!!

@QueenPaws I admire your strength!

@ememem84 did you ask the 🐢 what their skincare regime was?

@CherryMargo I am so impressed!!!! Just one question... is S&B skin and body?

@WellTidy you should defo write to The Queen and tell Her Majesty of your restraint - she generally replies.

I have two empties to report:

  • M&S rose anti-perspirant roll-on: this is one I generally have in rotation- by the end it is no longer so effective 😷
  • Revolution Beauty 2% hyaluronic acid: a bit thicker than The Ordinary one but not bad

I have gone down the rabbit hole of trying to get affiliate links for the product mentions in my You Tube videos... 🤯 this is time consuming and has greatly impacted my ability to shop!!!! Still have not placed a Yesstyle order!!! But I will as need to restock on some staples like lip balm and hand cream.

@Experiment627 - if you have a spare 6275396 hours, you can also check out the kitschy stationery gift ideas on YesStyle or kawaiipenshop.com/

BookShark · 02/12/2020 12:19

I don't know if this really counts as I only got them in my advent calendar yesterday and today, but I've finished a mini Oribe shampoo and conditioner. Nice enough, but no way I could justify them as a regular purchase - my hair is quite long, so I go through conditioner fairly quickly, and this one is £50 for 200ml according to Space NK. The conditioner was nice and shimmery though!
