Thank you @neveradullmoment99! Just unloading my car after our last-gasp holiday (DD2 starts school on Tuesday 🥳). So glad to have this wonderful thread to check in with my fellow Toasties.

I know there is a lot of love for Margaret Howell on these threads, so, in the interest of being wonderfully magnanimous 😀, I thought we’d drop into the outlet store in York on our way home from Northumberland (there is a brilliant canopied play area for children so DD2 needs little persuasion to go and there is a discount Paperchase store so DD1 is equally as happy). There are some incredible discounts ie dresses reduced from £695 to £125 and shirts that were originally circa £350 down to Toast sale prices.

I've been lurking on the threads but never posted yet. This year I've bought a few lovely Toast items - my most recent purchase being the graphic yoke wool jumper in oat/charcoal which is absolutely beautiful. I've barely taken it off since it arrived.
I've also bought the broken stripe raglan sweater and the anokhi cotton print dress in pomegranate which is definitely one of my favourite purchases of the year.
I also got the cotton long sleeve sweater in bone.
All of my purchases have been wonderful - I managed to get the blue stripey linen jumper in the JL sale which has also become a wardrobe staple.
I follow this thread as I love to see what everyone has bought. I basically covet an entire wardrobe of Toast but sadly my budget won't allow.

Now that I’m properly awake talk to us about the Margaret Howell outlet @Moominmammaatsea. I’ve been known to do a city break to go to a shop 🙄. Is it outside the town and accessible by public transport? I could plan for some unknown date in the future. Getting increasingly anxious London at Christmas is not going to happen due to circumstances at the moment as looking that some things we had planned may be cancelled / be a non starter. Maybe I could go to York in the Spring..... Did you go to Toast in Edinburgh?

Anyway was saying that I am really annoyed that my sand cotton linen Alix trousers have had a seam go on first wearing.. just not great quality in the stitching.. but as I bought them in the JL sale, I will just have to mend then if I want to keep them, as I am very unlikely to get another pair.. .
Also that I am trying to not have fomo as things have gone oos, like Ella's lovely jumper ( Hi Ellapaella, good to see you here!!).. but I did order the darker Gabi cords on back order ..

I shall also be in York next week will look at Toast shop ( I have never actually visited one) . Margaret Howell is also new to me. ( Could be dangerous.. ) but I will only be able to visit places in walking distance

@Countmeout, the Designer Outlet is on the outskirts of the city, but it is only a few miles (three?) from the centre, and there are regular direct buses which run between the rail station and the shopping centre.

York is a wonderful city break destination and now is a particularly good time to go as there aren’t the usual hordes of overseas visitors. We managed to find extremely reasonably priced accommodation accordingly.

The Margaret Howell shop stocks the previous year’s in-season stock so they’re just finishing their spring-summer sale, but it will typically have been in the mainstream shops the year before. This matters not a joy to me (or anyone who appreciates Toast I imagine) as Margaret Howell, in my opinion, is just about the slowest fashion there is!

The shop stocks womenswear and menswear in Margaret Howell and MHL ranges, plus accessories (belts, purses, jewellery), footwear (brogues, boots and trainers from her collaboration with the Japanese label Mizuni) and homeware ie her special edition Anglepoise lamps, woven in Wales blankets and cushions and linen aprons etc.

To give you an idea of prices, I eyed up a beautiful twill grandad-collar shirt in a fine stripe; the original RRP was £335 and the outlet sale price was £135. Linen t-shirts (much weightier than the Toast versions) we’re reduced from £95 to £35.

I'm eagerly waiting for it to be cold enough to wear my marigold jumper. I'm already getting a fair bit of wear out of the linen/cotton mix ones, but the marigold one is just too toasty warm.

Morning all! York is a great mini break destination, I have been a few times with the DC's in tow, maybe I need a mini break by myself so I can spend time in the shops I'd like to! (That'll be Toast, and now Margaret Howell)
Although I'm a lover of hot weather, I am quite pleased it's cooling off so I can now wear some of my Toast bargains. I am also challenging myself to not wait and keep things for "best" buy rather just wear them now!!

Margaret Howell shop sounds great Moominmama. Unfortunately Its probably unlikely that ill get there, as we will be in our campervan. ..
Btw re FOMO .. Toast now have the lovely oatmeal graphic yoke sweater on back order..

Anyone else hate the auto-correct function on their phones? I know the difference between ‘joy’ and ‘jot’ and I’m sufficiently well taught in grammar and punctuation to not mistake ‘were’ for ‘we’re’!

Moominmama .. yes! But worse is the my too fast typing on small keyboard, and posting without reading back properly problem...I often look like I really can't spell or have any notion of grammar at all!

I missed out on a MH artist's 'Tate' smock on eBay last night and was gutted. Put in a price I was willing to go up to and slept as it finished quite late. Got up today to find it had sold for £1 more than I had bid. That'll teach me !

Ah, but the winner might actually have had a much higher top bid, but you if were the next highest bidder, it would only have bid £1 more than you. Take comfort. :)

@Countmeout, you’re welcome and I forgot to say that there is also a two-storey Toast shop in the Shambles area of York (I’ve never managed to get upstairs as I have to shop ninja-style when the four-year-old is in tow, which, sadly, is all the time as it’s illegal - but very tempting - to leave her at home!)

Seriously, you would have a brilliant weekend as it’s such a beautiful, but pleasingly compact, city that is rich in culture and history. Besides, there are Fat Rascals galore at Betty’s!

@mizu, I’m slightly ashamed to say I have not one but two of those smocks. I bought the first at Tate Britain after seeing the Barbara Hepworth exhibition a few years ago (she is a heroine of mine and most definitely on my dream dinner party guest list). It is one of the comfiest and most perfect things I own and so when I spotted them at the Margaret Howell outlet shop, I bought a second that is still BNWT waiting for the first to give up the ghost. I think that was the moment I realised I had turned into my mother, buying the same thing twice because you’re scared that they will be discontinued.

Bought the alpaca lace stitch jumper, absolutely love it, and the velvet/linen quilt. Wondering about the truffle cashmere jumpers further into the winter.

@Laska2Meryls, there is parking a-plenty at the Designer Outlet and your camper van would not be out of place!

@Ellapaella, welcome, you could totally be my Toast twin as if I had to choose three items from the new season collection, I would opt for your two jumpers and dress.

I also have the linen slub jumper in Bone (an absolute godsend on our Great British beach holiday last week) and the navy linen swingy jumper (ditto). In fact, there was a day I wore both jumpers together to avoid going blue with cold as my two daughters were in the sea till 7pm without wetsuits. 😱

I dithered over the oatmeal lace jumper , but so , so expensive.. but actually the oatmeal graphic one is definitely more 'me'.

Moomin I'm sure it wont be a problem parking the van ..but I am now officially broke !! I also ordered two more Francis tees as well as that jumper(the chalk white and the moss).. So have to stop until sale time .. Will have to live vicariously through you all...
