Beauty Advent Calendars 2020

After a weird year, who is thinking about treating themselves? Can’t believe how quickly this has come round!

Nothing is out yet but some places are keeping waiting lists for notifications e.g. Cult Beauty. The John Lewis sneak peak looks promising. And I believe Body Shop is out the end of this month.

Any you will be looking out for? I’m thinking of splurging on a decent one this year — I had serious envy over Cult Beauty last year. I’ve also become a huge SpaceNK fan this year so I’ll have my eye out to see what they’re producing.

My big surprise hit last year was Holland and Barrett — super cheap and some brilliant items. If it’s as good this year I might end up with that as a bonus.

I have already tried a lot of the things in Cult Beauty and Space NK so won't be getting them this year. That Huda Beauty palette has been doing the rounds this year, that's for sure. I love the look of F&M and Net a Porter. So much gorgeous skincare,p and I'm finding it hard to decide which one. Net a Porter has Barbara Sturm Hyaluronic Acid at £235 by itself - would love to try that.

I don't think it would have made a difference, tbh. I chose Monday and I'm still waiting on mine. I phoned H&B this morning and apparently it's with Hermes and they'll get back to me with an update...

I try not to stash. I made a point last year of using everything from the M&S calendar as soon as I could and it's mostly all gone, I just have lip gloss, and of course, about a million black eyeliners left!

Aaargh I’m in a dilemma over Space NK. Do I order it now and save £45 or wait in the hope that they do another GWP and have stock left?! Decisions, decisions!

Ah tricky regarding space nk. I think I might pre order now with the money off. I did like the GWP last year those crackers they did but I can't remember the products being super special. The calendar itself was much better so I'll stick with that with money off I think.

I'm in such a dilemma over Space NK or CB. CB calls out to me more but Space NK is cheaper now and still has some great products. I was going to ask for CB for my birthday. I always used to get Liberty until they got too repetitive. ( I fill my old Liberty ones with chocolates for my children's advent calendars)

I’m going to pre order as I have a list of bits I will need/quite like over the next few months so if the GWP comes up and is good I can have that too.

I’ve just ordered the White Company one. Pretty sure I’m going to get the Liberty one too. As others have said it’s been a difficult year and there’s unlikely to be the usual Christmas festivities in December, treating ourselves is perfectly acceptable.

I've done a thorough check on contents for both and am going SpaceNK. CB has three varieties of a product I don't use whereas there's nothing on the SpaceNK list I think an outright 'no' to, although a couple of slightly 'meh's. I do love the CB Christmas Day haul though; it felt really lovely last year to get a bunch of stuff.

I reckon the Space NK will sell out quickly this year due to the price reduction offer. Sometimes it has hung around for a few weeks and has coincided with the cracker GWP but I'd be surprised if it's still around next week. CB sold out in two hours last year but I would expect them to produce more this year.

I’m thoroughly fed up and feel no compunction at spending on a posh advent calendar. I have bought one item of clothing this year, and two eyeliner pencils for £2.49 each from Superdrug.

I’m looking at the Atelier Cologne and the Diptyque ones, for maximum obscene spend, as I do have quite a few previous calendar buys squirrelled away unopened from last year. Anyone had either of them in the past and have an opinion?

I have been looking at contents online by the way and found two This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Sprays! They are still out there.

I'm not thrilled with Atelier Cologne as a brand tbh. I find them similar to Jo Malone etc in that they're nice enough, some are lovely, but overall a bit Emperor's New Clothes for what they actually are. However, they do a very reasonable sample set- you get iirc 2ml phials of loads (if not all) of their perfumes so beautifully packaged that you could gift them. I think they're 30€ including delivery.

I also think fuck you to anyone telling me off for spending on a calendar. I have one pair of shoes (hate shoes, I just see them as something that stops my feet dropping off) and a battered 15 year old Fiat Panda. So if I want a posh cream I have a posh cream

Apart from Lush and Body Shop does anyone know off a bath and body only calendar? Now that Rituals and me have fallen out I want something for DD. She already has a beauty subscription box so I don't want skincare or makeup.

Done l'Occitane for a few years but as with many calendars the contents get a bit repetitive.

I was tempted last week but didn't succumb which I'm pleased about because I'm dithering over Space NK today.

Ooh I'd forgotten Bomb. I might keep reminding myself about the shoes and the Fiat Panda and have one of them too.

I was going to get a White Company candle, but I only know Winter. Do you prefer Fir Tree?

I just emailed H&B and they said my parcel is with Hermes to be delivered today! We will see as usually Hermes tell me I have a parcel arriving!

Right, I've ordered Arran. The discounts were a bit weird so if anyone is wanting one, here's what to do (no idea why!)
I put the calendar in my bag (£50) and added a hand cream (not the After the Rain or Apothecary one though, they aren't included), I added Grapefruit at £15.
I tried: NEWCUSTOMER20 and it said no. I tried SAVE10 (which had appeared in a pop up) and it said no. I guessed codes weren't working for ACs which often happens. I mooched around and added 2 small ten quid discovery sets for stocking fillers, thinking the 20% at least might take me £2 off those, and suddenly it took the 20% from the AC as well.
So, I've got a £50 AC, a full sized £15 hand cream and 2 X £10 discovery sets for £56.
And Quidco cashback possibly!
