Beauty Advent Calendars 2020

After a weird year, who is thinking about treating themselves? Can’t believe how quickly this has come round!

Nothing is out yet but some places are keeping waiting lists for notifications e.g. Cult Beauty. The John Lewis sneak peak looks promising. And I believe Body Shop is out the end of this month.

Any you will be looking out for? I’m thinking of splurging on a decent one this year — I had serious envy over Cult Beauty last year. I’ve also become a huge SpaceNK fan this year so I’ll have my eye out to see what they’re producing.

My big surprise hit last year was Holland and Barrett — super cheap and some brilliant items. If it’s as good this year I might end up with that as a bonus.

@Kez0777 - I've looked and can't find an email so I've messaged Look fantastic to ask them to re send it

You'll have no choice but to buy it thenGrin

SymphonyofShadows · 06/09/2020 18:20

I usually get M&S and at least one other. It’s probably going to be Glossybox and Rituals for me this year.

£70 definitely seems more affordable Grin

Also gutted that there is no M&S calendar this year....really enjoyed it for month of December and has added to the Festive build up for the last few years . Looking for a sensibly priced alternative and have seen Debenhams mentioned few times here. I live in republic of Ireland and Debenhams has closed here, so that is not an option for me. 2020 is definitely still getting worse and worse 😔. Any other suggestions?

OchonAgusOchonO · 06/09/2020 19:24

debenhams.ie is still working so you can presumably order online. I bought it online last year. Delivery is free on orders over €30.

Hopefully it will be available there this year too as it was really good.

OchonAgusOchonO · 06/09/2020 19:28

@val4 - You can join me on the ROI swaps thread tooGrin

There's always a bloody black eyeliner in them that I will happily swap for an empty envelope.

val4 · 06/09/2020 20:13

Sounds good Ochon....😀.

I wish Lancôme or YSL or Dior or Annick Goutal or someone would do a perfume advent calendar. Even better if Liberty or H Nicks or other retailer would do one mixing up samples from high end companies. Would love that and what a great way to try things out.

Passmethechocolatecake · 06/09/2020 21:53

Am I the only person in the world who loves getting black eyeliner..? Bonus points if it’s eyeko! My holy grail is the black magic one! I haven’t left the house without cat eye flicks since I was 17 😂.

Mascara is another story. I can’t find a single one I like so I just buy sample sizes every time. There all more or less as shit as each other.

Oh goody. I've found someone to do a swap with.

I've probably tried nearing on 100 mascaras in my time, the best I've found is actually primark, the dupes. Leaping bunny approved too!

Have you seen The Perfume Society discovery boxes? They have some great niche scents in them.
MysweetAudrina · 07/09/2020 00:41

Another ROI person here who doesn't like makeup has developed a slight addiction to all things skin care. Decided to use on of my old calendars to make up a gift for sd27 this year as I have all the make up unopened from the last few years. Debenhams online definitely still going so hopefully will be able to order from there.

I'm the other way round. Black eyeliners are wasted on me but I can use pretty well any mascara.
anon444877 · 07/09/2020 09:44

Hourglass is hands down the best mascara I’ve ever tried - I got a small one in the space nk calendar a few years back.

I’m not keen on black eyeliner, it’s too harsh on me but I find it excellent for quick face paint for children for Halloween/Egyptian day/book day/whatever.

Pomegranatepompom · 07/09/2020 10:46

Just received my liberty GWP- really pleased with it (well apart from the black eyeliner !)
There are a lot of cleansers, but I’ll use them and nice to try different ones.
Not sure can justify advent calendar now...

OchonAgusOchonO · 07/09/2020 11:15

For those of us who hate black eyeliner, dd19 suggests using is as a lip liner. A very light hand and smudge slightly and then put on your lipstick. I haven't tried it but hers always looks great and you'd never guess that black was used.

beguilingeyes · 07/09/2020 11:33

IHeartSusanDey

Awww...Susan Dey was the reason I started watching LA Law...loved that.

When David Cassidy put out The Last Kiss I met him a few times and he was an absolute sweetheart. His end was so sad.

buckeejit · 07/09/2020 13:18

@Pomegranatepompom When did you order please? I'm worried I won't get the fab summer offer package. I have instructed dh that he is to wrap the things up & put it in last years liberty calendar as I can't find a single one that I really want this year. Did buy the Harper's beauty box & will keep an eye out in case the breast cancer box comes up again.

Will try the black eyeliner for lipliner - interesting, not sure it will work for me as I'm generally orangey reds rather than blue reds but worth a shot!

buckeejit · 07/09/2020 13:21

4160 Tuesdays usually do a advent calendar & their perfumes are fab!

I have an hourglass mascara, can also use any but often don't bother with mascara. Chantecaille is the best I've tried so far but will give the hourglass a turn soon!

Let me know how it goes so I can tell her I'm spreading her wisdom far and wide Grin.

Pomegranatepompom · 07/09/2020 13:25

@buckeejit on Tuesday. I didn’t get a email to say when it was being shipped.
I think the liberty calendar looks good this year as does the fortnum and mason.
I don’t really need either though.

covidmonkey · 07/09/2020 21:49

Is there any fragrance advent calendars? Preferably with different brands.
I just noticed that I have only samples left. I had Mugler one two years ago. I liked it but i would like to try new ones.

anon444877 · 08/09/2020 10:01

Jo loves and Jo Malone both have calendars but obviously that’s not a mix. Penhaligon did one last year I think.

Housewife2010 · 08/09/2020 12:09

I've just ordered the Glossybox Advent for the first time. It looks like a very good selection of products and the palette was the deciding point for me.
