WideWebWitch · 01/10/2007 07:09

Hello! This is week FIVE of the EIGHTH WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even thought it's Oct
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

Happy Monday everyone!

Hey, no talk of sticking finger down throats on this thread www (even if we are talking Paul Merton and Simon Cowell)
Back is better thanks after a day of old routine of sitting on backside as much as possible - was wearing pedometer and if I don't do my walks in the morning and at lunchtime I cover less than half the distance! Ooerr.
We haven't seen Cerys since her half-marathon, hope she's OK.
PMSL at arfishy wanting to look like Elle McPherson after three days in the bootcamp slammer! Ahem, if I had to get up at five am to be bawled out by a control-freak loon I'd look like Albus Dumbledore...oh...wait a minute...dd does this to me every morning that explains a great deal. I think what you are doing is fab arfishy, well done you
Hope your head feels better soon torty and big sympathies on the morning sickness Duchess (nice to be able to post those sympathies IYSWIM)
It is tipping it down here so I trust you are not in the garden right now batters!
Keep us posted www - fingers crossed for you that Acton does not loom

winnie · 09/10/2007 09:34

Just popping in to say 'hello'. Am at work and very busy but will try to catch up as the day goes by and if not xh has fixed my laptop so I will be back online properly tonight... hurrah.

Arfy, good luck
Marina, hope your back is better soon.

Batters... 'NO' to Simon Cowell and Paul Merton but confession time I can weirdly understand the Boris thing . I have a history of fancying unsuitable tory men like Michael Portillo... WTF???!!!! And me a poor lefty single parent Mmmm probably disappear for another couple of days after that confession

Bootcamp is not going badly but it is not going well either. Need to be more focused.
How many weeks until Xmas?

winnie · 09/10/2007 09:37

lol at Marina and dd and looking like Dumbledore. Glad your back is getting better Marina.

WideWebWitch · 09/10/2007 09:45

lol at this thread, of COURSE it's a CLIQUE Sobernow, durr! But I was vair vair interested in your celery stories!

lol at Marina and dd style bootcamp, ha ha.
Well, Winnie, erm, yes, I get Boris too. And Blair. Omg, did I just admit that?

I have just read Red's anti ageing special with a fab article by the gorgeous Leah Hardy who had LOADS of treatments and surgery and looks great on it

Really want to lose some more weight before Christmas but realise I have to work harder at it really. Well, work at it full stop would be a start.

No booze last night though and a fantastic 9 hours sleep etcetera so I feel BRILLIANT today. Have just taken ds to dr for his headache (dr says not to worry) and he begged me to skiive at home with him for another hour, given that neither my work nor his school know what time the appt was. So here we are

Well I want your celery and miso tales Sobernow, you are a salutary reminder that delicious low fat meals exist, so get back here right away. Sorry to hear you have all been laid so low

TheDuchessOfCorpseBride · 09/10/2007 10:50

Hope the Sobernows recover asap. Family bugs are utter misery.

Too much has gone on for me to comment to everyone, so will just aim to sort of merge back in. Am going to try and be inspired by terrible thought of turning up in Sydney at Xmas looking large and pasty.....

arfishy · 09/10/2007 12:35

Well, I've wolfed down (ahem) some steamed chicken and veg (mange tout, baby sweetcorn, courgette, potato, carrot).

Now it's 9.15pm and I'm going to bed ahead of tomorrows 5am start. It's our trainer's last day before his 7 week holiday (new one lined up) and he's promised something 'special'

Yes batters I am indeed reporting live from my 8 week transformation program. Hence the 9pm bedtime. I was pondering today how long it's going to take me to snap and go on a white wine and schnitzel rampage.

Legal - you're back for Christmas? How exciting!

Hope the sobernow family gets better.

at Marina. Actually, DD also gets up very early, which means it's not such a shock. Well, to me anyway. DP has taken this whole having to get up at the crack of dawn with DD because I'm at bootcamp thing very badly. [chuckle]

legalalien · 09/10/2007 13:43

arfishy - indeed I am - and excited if somewhat apprehensive about the getting there and back again. There from 16 decemberish to 4 jan, so let me know if (i) you're around and (ii) there are any (small, light) items you desperately need from the UK. I am anticipating having plenty of space in bags on the way over,in order to make space for bulky, totally-inappropriate-to-carry-all-the-way-back-to-the-UK presents from doting grandparents.

TheDuchessOfCorpseBride · 09/10/2007 20:06

Boris? Urgh.

Apart from the above, I am feeling a bit better today. Have continued on ginger ale & orange diet but have run out of peanuts. Ocado coming at 9AM.

Ate a tiny amount of chicken wrapped in ham, potato dauphinoise, sweetcorn, peas, cauli & carrot for dinner. I have a happy dog tonight!

Applauds arfishys early night. And does the same.

unknownrebelbang · 09/10/2007 21:26

Sunscreen yy
No booze yy
45 mins ex bike rather than walking TWICE!!
Lots of water/weak tea yy
handcream yy
bed early - rebel rebelled, after being sensible over the weekend, was up far too late, and then DH woke me at 5 am when he came in, grr.
Eat healthily - hmm, ish.
Be happy - hmmm,I'm tired, and work's at the mo.

arfishy · 10/10/2007 00:46

Woke up at crack of dawn. Did fecking hard invigorating session with trainer.

Now am home with a case of suspected chickenpox (DD). Have eaten 3 weet-bix (tidgy things in comparison to weetabix) and a handful of raisins. It's 9am and my pedometer is saying 5183 steps [so it bloody should too. Checks self for macpherson-ness in mirror. Fails]

I will indeed be around then Legal. There are murmurings of a Sydney meet too, if not I'm sure we can coffee or take the DC to Darling Park/Flying Fox. I'm in the East. You are lovely for offering to bring something over. If you can jemmy an M&S into handluggage that will do . Tell me all about your flight worries, how old are the DCs and who are you flying with/which stopover & for how long?

WideWebWitch · 10/10/2007 07:42

tortoiseSHELL · 10/10/2007 08:11

Good luck www! Hope it goes really well. xxx

I had a stupidly late night last night, and also, having been really good bootcamp wise up till 6ish, failed miserably - had to get the kids home from gymnastics, but an accident meant the whole of Bristol was jammed up, so didn't get home till 6:30, then had to go straight out for rehearsal, was late, and en route just needed chocolate to get me through. Got home late, and then had pasta for tea. Today am shattered, but am determined to be better, am going to School Harvest Festival this morning (where ds1 tells me he MAY be in the class play...with lines....) and then organ recital at lunchtime, so wish me luck for that, I haven't done enough practice as ever.

arfishy, that sounds very dedicated!!!

Duchess - I found the best thing for hideous morning sickness was ice cold water.

Yesterday was ok but no exercise (5000 steps doesn't count) and no water I've had a headache for 3 days

Have realised that bread and wheat products have crept back into diet and that generally I am not being as focused as I was so must try harder.

Good luck www with interview.
TS good luck with recital.
Arfishy, hope dd is ok.
Duchess, glad the morning sickness is more under control.
unknownrebelbang, well done on the bike.

Must try harder, must try harder, must try harder...

TheDuchessOfCorpseBride · 10/10/2007 10:18

unknown - great pedalling
www - well done for getting through all those interviews. How soon will you know?
t/shell - good luck to you and your DS
winnie - sorry about your headache, it will get better if you drink water. Cutting out wheat is tricky, so don't be too hard on yourself.

arfishy's new regime is making me miss my running. My moron is clocking up less than 10,000 steps a day at the moment so I've stopped wearing it. [head in sand emoticon]

My ginger ale, peanuts & oranges have arrived courtesy of Ocado so I'm feeling better than I did 2 hours ago. They have also delivered lots of ready meals, mostly Thai & Chinese, so I don't have to cook in the evening. But my in-laws are coming this weekend, I'll have to fess up to being pregnant as they are huge admirers of my culinary skills and will wonder why the hell I'm not in the kitchen making stuff!!!

t/shell - Cold water not good atm, I can feel it in my stomach and it's horrible. So my beloved ginger ale is not allowed near the fridge!
