WWW's six week 10yy boot camp, Oct 2007 already

WideWebWitch · 01/10/2007 07:09

Hello! This is week FIVE of the EIGHTH WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even thought it's Oct
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

Happy Monday everyone!

Duchess, hope you are Ok and fingers crossed for your scan. I am feeling OK today, thanks for asking. I am going to book myself in for a sports massage the day after the half marathon to sort out any knots and aches!

Batters, I had a birthday recently too - belated happy birthday.

Prufrock, hope you start to get something out of the therapy soon.

I am making a conscious effort to eat more healthily and have been cooking more from scratch. Lots of soups and stews etc. Where I fall down is with the snacking, mainly eating sweet stuff like kitkats, biscuits etc

tortoiseSHELL · 03/10/2007 14:46

Oo, Duchess - hope you have good news - how exciting!!! xxx

winnie · 03/10/2007 17:16

Tortoiseshell, nice to see you on this thread again. How is bootcamp going?

Cerys, I am a 'picker' and the only way I beat it is not to buy the things I can not resist A jar of sundried tomatoes or olives last no time at all in my house so I literally only buy them now if and when I need them. I will eat fruit when I feel like picking or a couple of oatcakes. Have you got weight to lose or are you simply trying to eat more healthily? A handful of nuts or some dried fruit may help.

Prufrock, good luck with the therapy.

unknownrebelbang, sounds like you are doing well. Don't be too hard on yourself about odd slip up. Put it behind you and move on

Duchess, good luck for friday.

Moonshine, well done.

Batters, well done on getting into the denim jacket. Thats fab. I had a pair of tartan trousers I bought in the mid 90's. I loved them but never wore them as they were slightly too tight at the time and then I just got too tight. After hoarding them for 10years 'for when I can get into them' I finally sent them to a charity shop last year. I could get into them now... and I know they'd have looked very dated but I ish I'd kept them to wear just once. well done you

Where is WWW?

I am struggling again. Each day is a new start at the moment with self. I have maintained all over the summer and am not gaining weight but I really need to start losing some again. Last night a dear friend turned up who I've not seen for ages and we shared a bottle of wine and ate crisps (haven't eaten crisps for ages) So had to start again today and all was going really well until I walked in the door at 3.15 hungry (missed lunch, just a yogurt for breakfast) and I ate a much bigger lunch than I would have at work. New day tomorrow ... again

winnie · 03/10/2007 17:18

I meant to write "I just got too fat" rather than tight... I couldn't get them up my legs at my heaviest

WideWebWitch · 03/10/2007 17:29

Hello, I'm here but it's ds's TENTH birthday today so I must go and talk to him, will come back and post later.

Had another 2.5 hour interview today, knackered but happy and only ONE working day this week left!

moonshine · 03/10/2007 18:09

Winnie - don't let a couple of 'bad' (hate using that word but my adled brain has seized up on my atm) sessions throw you off track and don't forget the 80/20 rule anyway - I'm afraid I have scant knowledge of your domestic situation but know that you have shifted shedloads of weight which you must be very proud/pleased about. you've done brilliantly for maintaining, which is definitely the hardest part of all this diet business.

Happy Birthday to WWW-junior. Are the teenage hormones beginning to show signs of surging yet?

I have lost the will to live today, thanks to WW3 having broken out between the dcs and dh not here to help soak it up. Consequently I have spent too much money today, eaten a huge muffin, crisps/and other crap and God-knows what is to come, and am about to pour my second glass of wine. Hey ho...

Happy birthday wwwJunior.

No booze yy
30 mins ex bike plus a small walk across town.
Lots of water yy

Eat healthily - reasonable day, with plenty of fruit.
Be happy - yay, no longer secretary to the PTFA, lol.

Marina · 04/10/2007 10:06

Oh, lots of birthdays - happy belated one Cerys and wwwJunior too - but dahling, you can't possibly be old enough to be the mother of a ten-year-old
Flitting through between coach parties of surly "do we have to do this mum" students on their Freshers' Week tours, to wish Duch good luck for Friday and say I'll be back bootcamping properly next week when things are a bit less frenzied
Deeply impressed with all the running and reducing going on here, not to mention rebel's adventurous boys

winnie · 04/10/2007 14:12

www, 10! Goodness, in my head he is about 6 or 7 Hope you all had fun. Well done another interview.

Moonshine & Batters. Fab advice. I will hold on to it.

Moonshine, hope you have a better day today.
Batters, I hope you have an equally good day today. Although I am at thoughts of a alcohol free weekend

Unknownrebelbang, consistency is the key. Well done you

Marina, you do sound stressed. Hope you get some space to relax at the weekend

Better day today. Onwards and upwards

winnie · 04/10/2007 14:13

I think that was a record on smileys. Lol

moonshine · 04/10/2007 18:07

Well at least it was excessive use of or , eh (although I personally welcome any opportunity to use )

Glad today is better Winnie - same for me. Helped that I wore a dress for the first time in years and felt quite 'elegant', or at least not like a quart in a pint pot (or is it the other way round, hmmmmm). And I am also ignoring the dcs.

Unknownrebelbang - you are cruising!

But felt slightly shaky of legs when I read the words 'alcohol-free weekend' - even though I know would be a good move for us too. Good luck Batters!

moonshine · 04/10/2007 18:08

Fingers crossed to both of you.

goodluck today with the scan duchess.

& www, good luck with the interviews.

My laptop at home has died so I won't be online over the weekend.

winnie · 05/10/2007 13:01

Meant to add before boss walked in and I pressed 'post message' 'have a good weekend everyone'.

Marina · 05/10/2007 13:06

Hope the weekend is OK winnie, and good luck to Bootcamp Royalty www and Duchess
Things are momentarily calm now but I had a horrible shock this am when a friend txted me with the best of intentions to say she was sorry to hear dd was "so ill". Given that I had last seen dd in rude health sticking a 3 for 2 sticker on dh's forehead Boots commercial-style at 7.30 this morning I had a bit of a panic. Call to school confirmed that dd was indeed present and as correct as she is ever likely to be [phew emoticon].
Lovely weather for gardening batters and even for ice-cream in England in October bamamama!
wishing everyone a pickled or abstinent happy weekend according to their heart's desire. As I have to work tomorrow I will freely admit that getting trollied and finally watching Borat on a Saturday night is looking quite appealing right now, and an important happyness indicator

tortoiseSHELL · 05/10/2007 13:11

Have been away from the thread for ages, but www, hope your interview goes well, Duchess - all my fingers are crossed for your scan, marina, hope everything settles down for you soon, (and that dd remains in good health ), winnie, hope you have a good weekend.

Not even going to go into what my week's been like bootcamp wise. Am holding out actually for the end of the 6 weeks....

TheDuchessOfCorpseBride · 05/10/2007 14:52

I am pregnant again! How fab is that! I feel bloody terrible though, sick ALL day and night, I go to bed ill and wake up at 3 or 4am still feeling sick. I've never had it this bad. And I'm unbelievably tired. Judging by the squash of my trousers yesterday, I think my waist has gone too.

I'll be the only bootcamper allowed to get bigger!! I shall stay on the thread because I still need to look after myself. Now the running has stopped I may power-walk when I feel up to it.

Lovely sunny day! I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.

Marina · 05/10/2007 15:09

Hurrah! You have Official Dispensation to Fill Out Nicely
My "pregnancy after a loss" is the aforementioned sticker wielder. Four now and never a dull moment from blue line thereafter
Wonderful news Duchess, have a joyful weekend!
(Now where is that www...?)

tortoiseSHELL · 05/10/2007 15:37

YAYYYY!!!!!! Congratulations Duchess!!! SO happy for you

winnie · 05/10/2007 15:40

Congratulations Duchess xxx
