WideWebWitch · 01/10/2007 07:09

Hello! This is week FIVE of the EIGHTH WWW 10year younger boot camp of 2007

Anyone can join, we promise it works and you will feel and look better - and maybe younger - if you follow these rules.

This is about being healthy and feeling and looking better as a result. It's not a diet (although weight loss does seem to occur fairly frequently)

THE RULES ARE:

  • Sunscreen at all times, even thought it's Oct
  • No or little booze in the week. Wine at the weekend is allowed if you want it
  • Walking is important, a small amount every day if possible. 30 mins if you can. Many of us have an Omron pedometer
  • Lots of water, aim for 2 litres a day
  • Apply body cream as often as possible
  • Use hand cream/foot cream too, we recommend Flexitol, which is fantastic stuff
  • Go to bed early, by 10.30pm if pos
  • Eat healthily
  • Be happy

The idea is that at the end of six weeks we all feel happier, healthier and glow with the good food, sleep, exercise, water and lack of sun damage

Happy Monday everyone!

Congratulations duchess! I shall raise a glass on your behalf tonight!

unknownrebelbang · 05/10/2007 18:21

Congrats Duchess.

Sunscreen yy
No booze yy
30 mins ex bike rather than walking
Lots of water yy
handcream yy
bed early - definitely! if only to watch X Factor and Ugly Betty.
Eat healthily - yy, good day today, plenty of fruit, plus home-made pizza courtesy of DS1 - base from scratch and lots of tomato(and he cleaned up after him.)
Be happy - in context - tried a pair of jeans on that I bought a while ago that were a bit too tight and I can fasten the button! Ok, the zip was hard-going and still too tight to wear - but definitely an improvement.

bamamama · 05/10/2007 22:27

many many many congratulations Duchess I'm very and also a little at your news (minus the sickness of course).
WWW - how did the interviews go?
Will update properly later, have ds on lap and this took ages to type!

WideWebWitch · 06/10/2007 18:00

Oh massive congratulations Duchess, that's fab news!

I've been baaaad, not even particularly deliberately.

Had interviews in London yesterday and found it VERY hard to find time to eat properly, so breakfast was a sausage muffin at Burger King at Euston at 9.30am, I just didn't have time to eat before I left home and by then I was FAMISHED so I necked it in aobut 10 seconds, then on to a fourth interview in west London then another 1pm central London interview after which I had a smoked salmon sandwich from Pret. Then I came home, did a party food shop with ds and had chicken drumsticks, peas, green beans, potatoes in their skins and my own bodyweight in Chablis 1er cru, oops, with my sister and her fiance. She is pregnant so was smugly feeling fine this am while her man and I commmiserated on the state of our heads.

A stinking hangover was JUST the thing when 15 boys came for ds's party this afternoon, my goodness they were LOUD! But it all went very well and that's the main thing. Ex dh is now doing a v good job of entertaining both children while I'm here.

Have eaten toast galore, party food galore, but never mind.

I am so relieved to have the interviews over with, more or less. I have an 'informal chat' with someone internally next week but I don't have to do any prep for it so it's ok. And I don't partic want a job with them so there's no pressure at all. I think I've done about seven interviews in the last 10 working days so I really have had enough of them but hey, let's hope I get offered one of the ones I want. (I have an offer but trying to avoid taking it as it's too far away really). It's been knackering being 'on' and doing all the prep and all the travelling etc, I really was fit to drop last night.

Happy weekend everyone.

Thanks for your congratulations everyone. And thank you for not showering me in sparkly baby pixie glue or whatever the f. it's called, which happened on another thread (and which I will now be avoiding like the plague).

WWW you go girl on ALL those interviews! I really hope you get one of the ones you want. That much hard work probably worked off the sandwiches. God, I miss Pret. Rocket & Crayfish is my favourite sandwich of all time. And Chablis Prem Cru. Mmmmmmm.

I have been appalling at bootcamp. I spent all of yesterday either on MN or in bed feeling wretched. DH googled morning sickness and has bought me some Vit B6 so I'll see if it works. He also bought salted peanuts, oranges, ginger ale and Foxes Glacier Fruits. My hero!

TheDuchessOfCorpseBride · 07/10/2007 13:14

arfishy helloooo! That's a brilliant thing to do! The results are bound to be well worth the hard work. Best of luck with it!

I dare you to post your before and after photo's....

I never worked out how to do that babydust crap stuff anyway Duchess!!!

Too bad to post. Www, can't you get Simon Cowell or someone to shout at us?

bamamama · 08/10/2007 09:33

ice cream, toasted banana bread and butter. Cheescake and wine. Will try harder...

arfishy - am intruiged by bootcamp. We need before and after pics please!

Babydust? what is this? Babycenter???? ta hun!

rosmonster · 08/10/2007 12:44

Duchess - congratulations, that's fantastic. Must admit, never heard of babydust though it sounds awful!!

Arfishy - you have more courage than I do to do something like that, I think you're going to look fantastic by the end!

WWW - fingers crossed on all the interviews for you.

Tortoise - when I first signed up to bootcamp, dh did wonder if people would shout at me through the laptop if I was caught eating a biscuit or something

Am still valiantly bootcamping but it seems like one step forward and two steps back at the minute. I desperately want to lose weight, especially before xmas but can't seem to resist my sweet tooth!

Marina · 08/10/2007 12:48

I think we get arfishy to shout at us once she has been whittled down - maximum respect!
I can sprinkle duchess with some of my gritty Food Doctor budgie food if she's desperate
I am not doing so well at the mo and blaming it on ongoing operational difficulties in the Work Area but not a patch on www's situation so won't whinge (much]
I crocked my back doing the cha cha cha with dd at the weekend during Strictly Come Dancing (ds writhing at our feet doing something he referred to as Break Dancing did not help) so didn't even walk this morning
A happy and healthy week to all

WideWebWitch · 08/10/2007 16:29

Arfy, eww, eww and eww again, you deserve a crown - you are Queen of Bootcamp!

Away with you weirdies who fancy Simon Cowell, urgh!

Rubbish day. Interview was fine, have been invited for a second one, again so that's good but it involves quite a lot of work and giving a presentation so if I get offered something before it I may take that.

Bootcamp wise, terrible

sorry to hear about back and work Marina, hope both improve v soon

OP posts:
tortoiseSHELL · 08/10/2007 17:04

yes, hope your back is better soon marina, and www hope the interviews work out!

TheDuchessOfCorpseBride · 08/10/2007 19:21

Sorry you've hurt your back Marina but I would love to seen you & DD doing the cha-cha-cha amongst the sprawled limbs of your DS.

The boiled sweet/oranges/ginger ale & salted peanuts diet is doing a great job of keeping the morning sickness under control. I even did a stint at pre-school this morning. Or perhaps the Vit B6 supplement does work? [sceptical of pills emoticon]

I was able to eat a baked potato, cucumber & carrot batons and baked crabmeat with lots of ginger and spring onion for dinner.

Have lots of spots. And greasy hair. And I'm exhausted. Will take myself off to the bathroom for some serious work and then an early night.

unknownrebelbang · 08/10/2007 21:57

Blimey Arfishy, sounds like torture to the lazy rebel.

Sunscreen yy
No booze yy
30 mins ex bike rather than walking TWICE!!
Lots of water/weak tea yy
handcream yy
bed early - not too bad last night, until DH woke me when he came in from work, lol.
Eat healthily - hmm, fruit for breakfast, lunch out - lovely sliced meat with lovely crusty bread and teeny bit of butter, and a plate of home made chips tonight, plus some chocolate.
Be happy - yep, good parent/teacher consult about two younger lads (same class, different years, was expecting a bit of tension but it's not occurred thankfully.)

tortoiseSHELL · 08/10/2007 23:24

Oh dear, just had bottle of wine, chinese takeaway, shout at me now, am feeling really not very sober, and watching gorgeous Paul merton on our Dvd of HIGNFY - another very sexy man if yuo ask me! And not even the weekend...

unknownrebelbang · 08/10/2007 23:33

Forgot to mention the important fact (to me, lol) that I've lost 2 lb this week.

Yep, that's weight, not cash, lol.

arfishy · 09/10/2007 03:00

LOL at you lot fancying Simon Cowell. What on earth has happened to this thread?!

Thank you all for your extreme enthusiasm at me eating mung beans and getting up at 5am for weeks. I have noticed that nobody else has rushed to enroll in one

I thought I'd better catch up with what's been going on, so :

Congratulations Duchess!!!

Well done WWW at your job offers and for all your interviews. It is tough finding healthy food on the run isn't it?

Cerys - 13.1 miles I respect you. I had to run for 8 minutes on the treadmill yesterday and thought they were going to have to stretcher me off (if I hadn't faceplanted first of course).

Unknownrelbang - I love the sound of your DCs!! Fire Escape indeed

And hello again to TortoiseShell (you're my chicken friend aren't you?) & batters of denim jacket fame.

So my stats for yesterday.

Up at 5 to the fitness studio. Long, exhausting workout under the gimlet eye of personal trainer. Av heart rate 142.
30 minute walk
Sunscreen
Gallons of water
Food from my food plan. Think steamed chicken, wholemeal grains and steamed veg.
Bed at 10.
Loads of cream
V bored with new healthy life. Getting up at 5am for 3 days should have made me like Elle McPherson by now surely?
