If someone else has already started one of these please direct me over. I’m not qualified to be the OP of these wonderful threads... but I typed the below and I will be heard Grin Wink

Neither the dress nor the tiara are my personal favourites.

But bloody hell it’s got class.

Granny’s dress and tiara turn it from ‘shameful secret wedding because daddy can’t be seen in public anymore’ to ‘intimate family occasion fully supported and loved by Grandmother, The Queen’. I think it’s a huge showing of support from the Queen to her granddaughter and that’s lovely.

She needed to pull that hat down more. It was too perched looking. Although she obviously too it off!

Sophie is an absolute treasure to the RF & I think they know it!

Think of the pearls that were clutched when the engagement was announced. She wasn't even an honourable, for heavens sake !

And the big sigh of relief when they realised Edward had picked a winner.
I think it was very wise of HMQ to give Edward & Sophie the chance of trying to do their own thing re: their work/jobs.
To let S&E have a go, make mistakes & allow them to realise & come to their own conclusions that it can be quite tricky to balance some professions (tv & pr) & yet still remain a full working member of the RF.

hopeishere · 28/08/2020 21:15

But I think the Queen also had to up the money she gave her kids to prevent them seeking external sources of money.

Rachellow · 29/08/2020 00:12

I'd agree with pp Sophie has been such an asset and apparently was a great mentor to Kate when she got engaged. I also admire how Louise and James have been able to be so shielded though I was surprised they didn't release her GCSEs. Although, I 'd agree I think some of Louise's outfits have been a little old for 16 in contrast to the Spanish and Dutch princesses. It is difficult to find clothes though that are formal but not too little girly or too mature.

hopeishere · 29/08/2020 10:13

Why should they release her GCSE results? How is that anyone's business??

Littlepurpleflower · 29/08/2020 10:46

A level results are published (usually so that we can see that they scraped into uni with less than required grades) but I don’t recall reading about GCSE results.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 29/08/2020 14:15

Imagines Sophie as the Head/Principal of Royal School & devising the curriculum.
Then once have you passed your Prince & Princess Diploma (which includes coursework & practical & written exams including a multi choice paper) will you graduate & gain your tiara (boys too)

Charlene in yellow leather! I actually really like this on her.

paradyning · 29/08/2020 21:19

Wtf has she done to her hair?

paradyning · 29/08/2020 21:20

Is it crimped?

frugalkitty · 29/08/2020 21:42

I think she's gone for a diy fringe trim Shock

paradyning · 29/08/2020 21:53

Doesn't look crimped there!! That would have been interesting.
The fringe however ...

MotherofPearl · 29/08/2020 23:58

Goodness me, yellow leather.

Somehow, against all odds, she carries it off. Totally agree about the fringe though.

mathanxiety · 30/08/2020 07:36

I love the yellow leather.

I have to say I like the short fringe too. Maybe she made the best of a bad situation involving some chewing gum, as I had to once with DD2..

Intriguing message on her mask -
Why so serious

??????
She never rarely smiles.

itswinetime · 30/08/2020 18:01

I like the yellow I'm not sure on the hair I think it could a wind weather giving her an unfortunate parting in the fringe.

Kate has released a new video as part of the hold still photo
competition.

Meghan and Harry have been out in LA looks like a lovely day with the kids but style wise I could be old fashioned here but I'm not sure I can forgive double denim!

Mary has been out today too in a very flattering nude dress o like the cut I'm not 100% on the colour though.

If I didn't know any better I'd swear Carole (Kate's Mum) had had a secret love-child as a teenager (Mary) Wink

frugalkitty · 01/09/2020 23:13

I'm not overly keen on the high, round neck of Mary's dress (surprise, surprise!) but other than that, I really like it, cut and colour.

itswinetime · 01/09/2020 23:37

I don't love high rounded necks personally but if your going to wear them as a royal because they are appropriate or whatever, then I'd rather just do that than have a high neck, long sleeves, a pattern and sometimes a collar!

Is it a keyhole neckline? I'm not sure but the break at the neckline and the pull in belt at the waist add something that for me is missing on the high neck dresses Kate wears. I think it's respectable and appropriate. However those subtle differences make it less matronly that the dress Kate wears that personally I don't like.

mathanxiety · 02/09/2020 04:22

It looks to me like a top and skirt?

I prefer KM's 70s style frocks, which have an undeniable look to them. I think Mary's looks a bit meh.

AdaColeman · 02/09/2020 08:05

I’ve just spotted that Angela Kelly’s book, The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe, is the Kindle Deal of the Day today. A snip at 99 pence instead of £20.
Said to be approved by Her Maj, it will be a jolly and pleasant read, with no murky secrets revealed!

I love Charlene’s yellow leather!
