If someone else has already started one of these please direct me over. I’m not qualified to be the OP of these wonderful threads... but I typed the below and I will be heard Grin Wink

Neither the dress nor the tiara are my personal favourites.

But bloody hell it’s got class.

Granny’s dress and tiara turn it from ‘shameful secret wedding because daddy can’t be seen in public anymore’ to ‘intimate family occasion fully supported and loved by Grandmother, The Queen’. I think it’s a huge showing of support from the Queen to her granddaughter and that’s lovely.

I enjoyed that Royal holidays retrospective Tracy.

I see CPM has slightly changed her hair, or at least is styling it with more volume and curl. I think it really suits her.

Last one, I promise! Not even Max can carry this dress off I don't think. They're on holiday in the Greek Islands.

Omg MotherofPearl I was thinking why have you posted a photo of Kate instead of Mary?
Then I clicked on the photo & golly Mary looks like she is Kate or could be Kate's older sister. The facial expressions & arm/hand movement.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 24/08/2020 19:55

And Max & Wax they look like they could be a normal everyday couple. If I met them holiday I would just assume they were a nice ordinary Dutch or thinking of their accent perhaps US/Canadian couple having a lovely time.
And if you told me that they were really the King & Queen of the Netherlands I was having a drink with, I'd say don't be so silly they don't even look like them. I'd probably agree that their names are the same but that's all.
Famous people don't look like themselves in real life iykwim.

MotherofPearl · 24/08/2020 20:07

I totally agree about the Mary/Kate thing Tracy! I've noticed it before and have wondered who is copying whom! And yes, Max & Wax look bizarrely normal in that photo. Wax actually looking pretty dishevelled! Grin

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 24/08/2020 20:11

They look like they are having a fab time & maybe they are under the radar & just being treated as that nice Dutch couple Maxi & Will 😊

AppleKatie · 24/08/2020 20:21

That may not be Max’s best dress but she is still by far the star of that photo!

Lady Louise is very stylish there.

MotherofPearl · 26/08/2020 20:33

I'm with you on the camo print wine. I think she looks lovely on the cover but as usual I deplore high necks like that on her - she is too bosom-y for a high neck imo. But she's such an asset to the RF and seems to work hard in a low-key way, so I'm prepared to live with the high necks. Grin

Horsemad · 26/08/2020 22:02

Not keen on that camo print at all!

EmGee · 26/08/2020 22:13

Gosh Mary looks like Celine Dion in that photo upthread!!

mathanxiety · 27/08/2020 07:32

Ohh, what have they dressed Lady Louise in there Shock?

She is 16, not 46. Why, why, why...

MotherofPearl · 27/08/2020 08:32

I agree math. I know we've said it on here before but I really do think that Leti gets it right with the Spanish princesses - they are always beautifully dressed but look youthful and not stuffy at all.

mathanxiety · 27/08/2020 09:20

It's hard to believe Catherine-Amalia is the same age, and Leonor is only two years younger than Louise. They are heirs to their thrones, but their sisters also dress appropriately.

I think her parents are doing her a disservice. She stands out as inappropriately dressed. I agree, you can indeed dress your age and still look formal, MotherofPearl.

It is odd when her mother said they need to learn about technology social media, meaning they have not bothered with access till now. Their school must be very sheltered for all pupils.
AngelaScandal · 27/08/2020 18:07

@justasking111 funny I came on to say exactly the same thing. The Wessex children seem to live a particularly traditional, sheltered life. Not that it is necessarily a bad thing but you wonder how they would cope if exposed to more typical teenage influences.

Littlepurpleflower · 27/08/2020 19:25

I thought this was a new photo of the Duchess of Cambridge but I think it’s last years? Anyway, a nice bit of autumnal fashion for a cold day today. www.instagram.com/p/CEZU9KHiMHoLHFel-5HqEmkOSuQkg4eGNnDlEY0/?igshid=1djnwn605egnv

MotherofPearl · 27/08/2020 19:56

I can't open that @Littlepurpleflower link as I'm not on Instagram.

Did anyone see the DoS conversation with Gloria Steinem? Here's the NMR link:

I think she looks great, as she usually does with more casual looks.

MilleniumHallsWalledGarden · 27/08/2020 20:44

Yes, she especially wears trousers well.

Horsemad · 27/08/2020 20:49

They've got my chairs in the pic of Meghan. She really suits those wide legged trouser styles. I'm a similar shape - short waisted, rectangle (don't I sound attractive?! 🤣🤣) and I tried some wide legged trousers recently, and actually didn't look bad to my amazement!

paradyning · 27/08/2020 20:52

Ouch her bunion looks sore!
I really love her massive hat!

itswinetime · 27/08/2020 21:14

I'm another fan of the wide leg trousers on Meghan. I think Meghan really suits a simple look. For me things go wrong when she adds to many extras particularly belts. But classic simple lines work really well for her. As always while I couldn't wear them I love her shoes!

Horsemad · 27/08/2020 21:19

I agree @itswinetime. She's too small to carry off overly fussy details.
