If someone else has already started one of these please direct me over. I’m not qualified to be the OP of these wonderful threads... but I typed the below and I will be heard Grin Wink

Neither the dress nor the tiara are my personal favourites.

But bloody hell it’s got class.

Granny’s dress and tiara turn it from ‘shameful secret wedding because daddy can’t be seen in public anymore’ to ‘intimate family occasion fully supported and loved by Grandmother, The Queen’. I think it’s a huge showing of support from the Queen to her granddaughter and that’s lovely.

I think the Leti comparison isn’t really fair- Kate is operating in a different culture and it’s invariably colder on her engagements!

itswinetime · 24/07/2020 13:00

I didn't means Kate has to dress like Leti, just that there are other royals out there that have the same considerations as Kate but don't wear the same dress in a variety of patterns.

Serenster · 24/07/2020 13:15

I don't expect her to be fashion forward but a blouse and long skirt, blouse and linen trousers even just not a shirt dress, there are loads of totally safe, appropriate outfit options out there that isn't a shirt dress

Back before lockdown she was actually dressing with much more variety - we saw jazzy blouses, wide-legged ankle length trousers (in green and then olive, even!), a pink trouser suit etc. But since most of her events since have been at home at Anmer, over Zoom and the like, she's either reverted to items already in her wardrobe, or just bought new versions of them. So yes, she's obviously back in her comfort zone - but aren't we all? Maybe once she has more external engagements she'll start planning a wider variety of outfits again.

itswinetime · 24/07/2020 13:41

Yeah like I said we definitely all get stuck in ruts/comfort zones and maybe it's like you say just part of lockdown and dresses in the wrong place ordering what she knows works online ect but I feel like it was the same last summer a variety of printed shirt dresses. Winter I agree things were getting better then boom the shirt dresses are back hopefully it's like you say just a practical part of coming out of lockdown and post the summer break she will come back with some fresh outfits.

Spudlet · 24/07/2020 13:42

I quite like that, it’s a bit less fussy than some of her recent dresses have been.

paradyning · 24/07/2020 14:25

Some random Austrio-Hungarian princess getting wed.
Lovely Carolina Herrara dress but she does look like she needs a wee.

I reckon Kate had that dress in the bag for Wimbledon.

MotherofPearl · 24/07/2020 14:40

Oh now I've seen the length of Kate's dress I've changed my mind. I really like it - fresh and summery.

SenecaFallsRedux · 24/07/2020 14:59

I really dislike that shirt dress. A personal prejudice, I admit, but I think it's even dowdier than some of her Little House on the Prairie numbers.

AdaColeman · 24/07/2020 16:26

@paradyning. That wedding photographer should be shot! As for the circus rodeo rider look worn by (presumably) the mother of the bride, well, I can't see that catching on!

fallfallfall · 24/07/2020 16:43

That belt!! Looks like my dh’s tape measure (blown up of course) and horrible horrible photograph the presumed MOB and the camera angle makes her stand out in all the wrong ways. Poor bride not the center of attention here.

AppleKatie · 24/07/2020 18:00

Dreadful picture and I’m afraid I don’t like the wedding dress either. It looks very casual and out of place.

paradyning · 24/07/2020 18:09

That's the civil
Ceremony dress I imagine they'll be something grander for another ceremony if they have one.

Chewbecca · 24/07/2020 20:25

I love the shoes on the woman on the right with the yellow belt.

thisenglishlife · 24/07/2020 20:48

Kate's shirt dress was by Suzannah and cost £995.

A classic 1950's inspired shirt dress cut from a lightweight, Italian organic cotton printed with an all over design of small tonal blue graphic polka dots.

The bodice is semi fitted, with a classic shirt collar and elbow length, cuffed sleeves.

The skirt features subtle box pleats which gives the dress plenty of volume and movement at the hem.

The dress is fully lined in cotton and features invisible side seam pockets and a coordinating tie belt.

Spudlet · 24/07/2020 21:27

£995?! It’s not that nice! Shock

Eaumyword · 24/07/2020 21:54

I love that shirt dress, but can't believe it's £995! I buy almost identical ones from Boden and they are £80, £65 with the usual discount they offer!

AngelaScandal · 24/07/2020 22:28

Random A-H princess mom. Looking like a cowgirl.

WTAF.

thisenglishlife · 24/07/2020 23:45

Lol Bosco

@Spudlet and @Eaumyword it's by a British designer, made in the UK, a natural fabric and part of the proceeds go to charity... Although I did think it would be a high street piece before it was identified.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 25/07/2020 14:57

Eleonore Von Habsburg's great grandfather was the last Emperor of Austria-Hungary (Emperor Karl)

I like her dress but Bea's is far nicer & grander (more Royal)
Bea & Edo's wedding photos make me think of Victoria & Albert who had an extremely happy marriage though I hope Edo lives to a ripe old age unlike Albert.

Loving the new photo's of George. I can see the William, David & Bertie resemblances but I see more of Kate & the Middleton's in George now.

AngelaScandal · 25/07/2020 22:41

I’m not a fan of the Carolina Herrera there either.
I’m sure she is losing sleep

paradyning · 25/07/2020 23:04

Prince Joachim is in hospital apparently.
Hope he's ok. Recent pics of him and SWFM

Gosh, how frightening for the family.

AppleKatie · 26/07/2020 20:45

That is very scary news hopefully he’ll make a quick/full recovery.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 26/07/2020 23:17

Yes hopefully he'll be fine
